Ensnaring his Dark Moon-Chapter 168: Fire
Adrian was determined to protect her but was he even aware of the fact that her world did not consist of humans anymore?
’’I am surprised that she did your bidding,’’ Cardan said as he strode towards her, ’’But now that they are gone, it’s time for us to leave too.’’
He reached his hand towards her.
Esme looked at him with narrowed eyes, the corners of her eyes were still red.
’’Touch my woman and I will destroy you.’’
Cardan paused when he felt the cold tip of the sword pressed against his neck, the blade pressed harder on the man’s neck and blood trailed down his chest but the man did not move. He stood rooted to his spot as he glanced at Aleister, who appeared out of nowhere, in shock and disbelief.
Esme glanced at Aleister who appeared in front of her. The pain she was suppressing till this moment swelled up in her heart and tears rolled down her eyes.
Aleister stiffened.
He dropped the sword in his hand and the sword disappeared as soon as it touched the ground.
Aleister turned around and pulled her into his arms and both of them disappeared from their spot.
Cardan snapped out of his daze as he looked at the place where they were standing.
’’How could it be possible...? Why?! He is just an illegitimate child then why?!" Why did Aleister have to have everything that he never had?
His footsteps staggered as he gritted his teeth. His fingers curled up in a fist, veins popping on his wrist.
Suddenly, something sparkled in his eyes. He looked in that direction.
Covered in the layer of glass lay a few pearls, there was a sheen covering them.
He took a step forward and squatted on the ground before he picked one pearl in his hand, bringing it closer to his eyes as he examined it.
A smile appeared on his face and a burst of maniacal laughter resounded in the gardens as he threw his head back. He crushed the pearl in his hand and it turned to dust, ’’She belongs to me.’’
...
’’Stop crying, will you?’’ Aleister stepped back from her as he held both her hands.
Esme opened her eyes and glanced at the surroundings. They were back inside his room. It was him and her. There was no other person around.
’’He... he hurt my brother,’’ Esme sobbed, ’’I am scared. What does he want from me?"
’’No matter what he wants, I won’t let him harm you. I promise,’’ he cupped her face and pressed his forehead against hers, his thumb gently wiping her tears.
But Esme could not stop crying, ’’I am scared,’’ she repeated as she held his palm and leaned closer to him.
Small tinkling sounds were produced as her tears landed on the floor, turning into beautiful pearls.
Aleister kissed her forehead, ’’How about now?’’ he asked, ’’Are you still scared?"
She glanced at him with teary eyes, ’’Yes, still scared...’’ Esme sniffed.
He kissed the tip of her nose, ’’Now?"
’’More scared,’’ Esme pouted.
He stroked her lips with his thumb, ’’My dear moon, you are just trying to take advantage of me, aren’t you?" he asked as he leaned closer to her and rubbed his lips against hers.
’’Maybe,’’ she whispered and stood on her tiptoes before capturing her lips.
He pulled back from her and Esme glanced at him.
’’Were you always this daring?"
She blinked, ’’I told you. You bring out the worst in me.’’
He leaned closer to her and gently pecked her lips, ’’I like all your worsts,’’ he said as he looked into her eyes.
Heat rose from her stomach to her chest and the anticipation in her heart grew as she watched him leaning closer to her. Her heart skipped a beat. He smelled hypnotic and she held her breath. He was so close.
’’Close your eyes, love,’’ he whispered and for once, she did as she was told.
She closed her eyes and that was it. She felt his lips brushing over hers like a wave of warmth, unfurling all emotions in her body.
Her toes curled up and her knees buckled as she leaned closer to him, gripping the material of his shirt.
His thumb moved to the hollow of her neck as he stroked her skin up and down, pulsating heat with every graze while his tongue thrust inside her mouth conquering its depth, his lips moved against hers hungrily, consuming her.
She surrendered to the fervent kiss that had her entire self wrapped around it. She wanted it. She wanted him.
Aleister looked at her from his half-closed eyes. He was addicted to looking at her, talking to her, and getting addicted to her touch, to her kiss, to this intimacy was so captivating, so dangerous but he did not mind it. He was in for every challenge that she threw at him.
His hand moved from her waist to her hand and he intertwined their fingers.
She gasped against his lips.
He pulled back from her, his brows tugged together. ’’What happened, love?" he asked when he saw the pained expression on her face. 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎
He slowly stepped back and raised her hand, his gaze shifting from her face to her wrist.
A long wound that ran from her palm down to her wrist came into his view and a flicker of rage flitted in his eyes.
’’Who?" he asked, his voice feral, ’’Who did this to you?"
Esme raised her hand and stroked his face, ’’You will age faster. Don’t be angry,’’ she stood on her tiptoes and ruffled his hair, ’’I am fine.’’
His expression softened and he grabbed her hand, ’’What am I going to do with you? Was it him or the Norwells?"
Esme did not ask him why he asked whether the Norwells harmed her, ’’It’s him. Your brother. Cardan,’’ she revealed what she discovered and watched as his expression shifted, ’’Ugh...’’ Esme pulled back from him and she hugged her body.
Aleister forgot about what she just told him as he held her carefully, ’’Esme, what’s wrong?"
’’It’s hot. I am feeling hot. Fire.’’
His brows tugged together, he hugged her tightly but before he could reassure her, there was a burst of flame in his room followed by another and soon the curtains caught fire.
His gaze darkened.
