Ensnaring his Dark Moon-Chapter 156: Puppy, your father!
’’I tried to attack the Alpha so that the rest of the wolves can be subdued but he was strong and sharp compared to me in those days,’’ Aleister spoke up beside Esme, ’’And I didn’t have magical powers in my body. Uncle taught me how to handle a dagger, and he also taught me the basic rules of swordsmanship and archery. I was too weak compared to this pack of wolves.’’
’’How...’’ Esme turned to look at him, ’’...did you survive this night?"
Aleister pointed his chin towards the front.
Esme followed his gaze and she was stunned for a moment. There was a glow on Aleister’s back and all the wolves retreated warily.
The Alpha seemed to be hesitant at first but as the golden glow got brighter, he stepped back as well.
Aleister’s shirt was torn and Esme could see his torn flesh everywhere. It was painful to watch but there was something else that caught her attention.
It was the butterfly on his back.
The black markings finished the strokes of the butterfly and a few golden linings appeared inside them.
’’AHH!" Aleister who seemed to be unconscious moved and screamed in pain.
He never made any noise while being tortured by this pack of wolves but now he was screaming. His heart-wrenching screams seemed to be echoing in the heart of the Enchantment Forest.
His hand moved to his back and his fingers dug into the skin near the marking. But his skin was ripped by the wolf’s paw earlier and his fingers dug into his flesh.
Aleister placed a hand on Esme’s eyes and pulled her into his chest, ’’Don’t watch,’’ he whispered.
Esme kept quiet.
But Aleister could feel the warmth on his palm. He pressed a soft kiss on top of her hair, ’’Were you always such a crybaby?"
’’Was it painful?" Esme whispered.
’’A little.’’
’’Liar,’’ She pulled back from him and looked at him with reddened eyes.
’’Look at those red eyes. What are you, a rabbit?’’ Aleister pulled her back into his arms.
She pushed him and looked at him once again.
’’If you don’t stop crying then I am going to keep secrets from you in the future. I won’t tell you anything if there is a chance that it will upset you.’’
’’You dare?!" Esme glanced at him in disbelief.
’’Try me,’’ Aleister raised an eyebrow and glanced at the grass underneath his feet, ’’Look at all these pearls. My precious, stop crying already.’’
Her heart skipped a beat and Esme blushed. My precious... What was it, a new name he was giving her?
He smiled at the sight of her reddening face.
She averted her gaze, ’’Don’t you care at all? Doesn’t it hurts?’’
’’What?"
’’Looking at your past self in so much pain,’’ Her heart was aching so terribly then how was he standing there, looking at the scene like this boy was not him? Was he not affected at all?
’’The pain which frees you from your miseries and makes you stronger... how do you bring yourself to dislike it?"
Something stirred up inside her when she heard his words. He was right. Is it worth it to live without pain when you have constant fears in your heart? When you have to be afraid of everything and everyone. Then, why was she always trying to run away from her reality?
Esme glanced at the golden glow that seemed to burn brighter and brighter until it blinded her eyes. She covered her eyes with a hand and the light started subsiding, she lowered her hand and glanced at the little boy who was now standing on his feet. She could see his wounds and they were still as scary but his eyes were calm just like they were the whole time.
But his aura had changed. There was something dangerous about him, something so intimidating that all the wolves backed away. But the Alpha did not budge from his place. It was as if he was unwilling to accept defeat.
’’Even if it is painful and you feel yourself shattering little by little, you need to remember that once those broken pieces of you come together, you are going to be stronger than ever,’’ Aleister said, his vision still fixated on the scene in front of him.
She glanced at his side profile, her chest constricting at his words. What was this discomfort she felt?
Before Esme could contemplate her feelings, she heard a sound of a stab.
Her head whipped in the direction and she saw a dagger stabbed into the wolf’s neck.
She glanced at the little boy who raised his hand, a small golden glow appeared on his fingertips and blood trailed down from the corner of his lips.
’’That was the first time I used my powers. I acted on instinct,’’ Aleister said.
’’Was it painful?" She watched as the glow took the shape of a small needle.
’’Just a little,’’ he replied.
’’Liar,’’ Esme grumbled under her breath as she watch the boy’s pale face.
In the next moment, the needle pierced through the Alpha’s forehead.
’Thud’
He crashed to the ground with a loud sound. He was dead.
Esme blinked.
’’The Alpha’s weakest spot is his forehead, the spot where his white fur is dense.’’
(A/N: No facts here, alright? Don’t look at me like I’m an alien if you find a pig flying in a gown.)
Even though he did not have powers before but he studied well to make up for his weak body...which was not so weak anymore. Esme thought as she glanced at his younger self in awe.
Aleister frowned, ’’Why don’t you ever look at me like that?"
Esme was speechless for a moment before she burst out in laughter, ’’Are you jealous of yourself?"
"_" So what if I am?
The rest of the wolves who were still surrounding Aleister with hopes of their watching their Alpha win, stood rooted to their spot in shock and apprehension.
Neither did Aleister budge from his place. He was panting heavily and he was drenched in blood. But there was no vulnerability in the pair of ice-blue eyes which looked at the dead Alpha in disdain.
Was this the time when it started? The moment he started shedding off his emotions, towards his father and towards the world that let him down?
’ROAR’
An ear-splitting roar echoed in the forest.
’’There he comes,’’ Aleister chuckled.
Esme glanced at him curiously before looking around to find the source of the familiar voice.
The wolves started dispersing when they heard the roar. They were already intimidated by Aleister and now that they heard the sound, they assumed that there was a beast stronger than them in this place. And there was no way they would await their death.
’’Fools,’’ The young Aleister muttered his breath. He was weak and if they came at him together, he would not have known how to take them down so it was for the best that this happened.
He looked around trying to find the source of the voice but when he did not see anyone, he turned around to leave.
Just as he took a step, he felt a tug on his shoe.
Aleister lowered his head and glanced at a small white creature biting his shoe near his toes. It should be around the size of his head.
’ROAR’ Leo let out another roar.
Unlike his fragile and delicate-looking self, Leo’s roar was mighty.
The young Aleister looked at him emotionlessly, ’’Stay away,’’ he kicked Leo aside.
’’Ow-’’ Aleister winced dramatically when Esme pinched his wrist.
’’How could you do that?!" Esme glanced at the baby Leo with two hearts popping out of her eyes, ’’I want to pat him.’’
Aleister rolled his eyes and glanced as the small Leo clung to his younger self, ’’This is the reason why I called you Leo’s sister in the first instance. Both of you keep clinging to me,’’ he tilted his chin, his nose high up in clouds.
Esme ignored his daily narcissism dose as she focused on the interaction between the young Aleister and baby Leo.
’’Can you stop clinging?" He looked at the little thing disdainfully.
Leo roared again.
’’Why not?" Aleister let out an annoyed sigh but a moment later, he realized that he could understand what this small thing was saying.
Leo looked at him persistently with his eyes going all wide and round.
Aleister raised his leg to kick him again but he paused. Letting out another frustrated breath, he spoke up, ’’If I had a sister, I would have taken you for her but I am not interested in puppies.’’
’ROAR’
Puppy, your father! Look at me. I am a powerful beast.
’’You...’’ Aleister was speechless, ’’Alright, prove yourself useful.’’
Leo blinked.
’’Show me that you are useful and then I will keep you with me.’’
Leo lowered his head.
Aleister rolled his eyes and stepped past him, limping slowly as he tried to keep his eyes open. His body felt numb. The pain was so much that he could barely feel anything anymore.
