Ensnaring his Dark Moon-Chapter 155: I hate you
Esme didn’t understand why the King would send Aleister to a place filled with dangers.
Aleister, who was sleeping till this moment suddenly opened his eyes and looked straight at her, ’’Who are you?" he asked, his gaze sharp.
Esme was taken aback, ’’Me...?’’ she pointed a finger at herself. ’’Uh... How should I put it?’’ I’m your lover from the future who should be around 4 years old during this time? Cough... Lover in pretense?
’’Come out!" Aleister said.
And it was only then that Esme realized that he was not talking to her. Right, he was unable to see her till now. How would he see her suddenly?
But since the forest was empty and there was no one other than both of them, she assumed that he was talking to her.
Esme turned around when she heard some rustling sounds.
She could see a pair of eyes shining in the dark, behind the bushes. And as if on cue, she saw a pair of shining eyes.
Her blood went cold. Was it...?
Esme turned around to look at Aleister who was still sitting in his place. ’’Why are you still sitting here? Do you want to die? Run!" she shouted, exasperated by his calmness.
But he could not hear her. What a tragedy it was!
Aleister pushed himself to his feet and Esme was about to sigh in relief but her brows tugged together when she saw him pressing his hand on his knee as he stood up.
She lowered her head and under the pale glow of moonlight, she could see the blood-stained ground. Right, how could he have stayed unharmed after dealing with such a huge hawk without any powers in his body?
He was injured. Even if he tried to run, he won’t make it. 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎
Esme closed her eyes. What should I do?
I can’t change the past but I can’t keep looking at it like this, can I?
While Esme tried to come up with something, Aleister kept his gaze fixated on the bushes.
He couldn’t make it out of here even if he started running and all he could do was stand in his place, ’’Come out,’’ he spoke in a calmer tone.
Esme tilted her head when she heard the rustling of dried leaves. Soon, a wolf jumped out of the bushes, its eyes seemed to be like crystals as they shone in the dark.
It howled before pouncing at Aleister.
’’Ah...’’ Esme closed her eyes instinctively but she did not hear any voices around her, she opened her eyes after some time.
She was greeted by the sight of the wolf rolling on the ground with one of his paws settled on his eye. She could see fresh blood oozing out of the place.
Aleister stabbed the wolf’s eye.
Esme sighed in relief. She found a tree nearby and leaned back on it to provide some support to her weak legs.
Aleister tilted his head to glance at the wolf who was rolling on the ground. Even though he stabbed its eye but the wolf was not dead yet and it would certainly attack him again, given the chance.
Taking a deep breath, he pressed his palm on his knee to check his pain. He closed his eyes and turned around to walk away before the wolf could get back to its feet.
Aleister was limping and he had only walked a little distance when a wolf appeared in front of him.
He took a step back and turned around but another wolf appeared.
They continued appearing one by one and soon he found himself surrounded by a pack of wolves.
Esme who was still letting out relieved sighs felt like her breath was caught in her throat once again.
The howls of the wolves resounded in the heart of the Enchantment Forest and a little boy stood between the pack of wolves, looking into their eyes with an emotionless face.
One of the wolves approached Aleister and as he lifted the dagger in his hand, the wolf bit his wrist and the dagger landed on the ground with a ’thud’.
Tears sparkled in Esme’s eyes as she watched the gruesome scene. Blood dripped from Aleister’s wrist but the boy did not make a single sound.
He just closed his eyes, struggling to get his wrist out of the wolf’s grip but the more he struggled, the more he bled.
’’No!" Esme frowned.
The wolf whom Aleister stabbed earlier stood up from the ground and pounced on him and bit his shoulder, ripping off his flesh.
Tears rolled down her cheeks, turning into pearls as they fell on the grass, ’’No...’’ Esme pressed her palm on her mouth.
It took only a few minutes for Aleister to be completely wounded. His flesh was hanging loosely around certain parts of his body and there was fresh blood seeping out of the wounds but the wolves showed no signs of sympathy.
If anything, they seemed to be provoked by Aleister’s actions of injuring one of their kind.
Aleister dropped to his knees.
Esme’s feet moved on their own and she found herself walking closer to him while wiping her tears.
Her footsteps came to a halt when she saw Aleister moving slowly.
His body was stale and to the wolves, it must have looked like he was barely hanging by a breath after losing consciousness. But she could see his hand moving.
He grabbed the dagger from the ground and tilted his head to the side.
Esme followed his gaze and noticed the wolf he was looking at.
That wolf was different from the rest of the pack. He had silver fur on his forehead and it seemed like the rest of the wolves were servile towards him.
He... was the Alpha of this pack. And defeating him would save Aleister undoubtedly.
Was he intending to attack him?
But his movements were so slow and his hand was so sluggish.
Suddenly, the Alpha looked at her.
Esme frowned. Could he see her?
She suddenly thought of something and looked straight into his eyes. She felt her blood running cold as she tried to control the wolf’s mind.
’’What do you think you are doing?"
Esme froze. Her concentration broke when she felt an arm around her waist, ’’You... What are you doing here?" she glanced at Aleister.
’’Leave me. What about you? What were you trying to do? Have you lost your mind?!" There was an edge to his voice as his body towered over hers.
Esme frowned, ’’Why are you shouting at me?’’
’’What do you think?" His lips thinned.
Her eyes welled up with tears. She punched his chest and stepped on his foot before stepping back from him, ’’I couldn’t bear to see this so I was trying to save you. Why are you being angry?’’ she turned around and wiped the tears from the corner of her eyes.
Aleister walked towards the front to block her vision. He cupped her face, ’’Esme, this is the past. I’m merely showing it to you because you were curious about my childhood but I don’t allow you to interfere with the series of events,’’ his thumb stroked her cheek.
He knew that she was extraordinary but he never thought that she can use her powers even in his memories. Just what kind of person was she? He wondered. But then, whatever she was, she was his.
’’You might end up being trapped in this place if you try to change things or worse, you will disappear.’’
Esme was stunned. She lowered her head and punched his chest again, ’’Why do you even care?"
’’Hmm...’’ Aleister pulled her into his arms, ’’Because you are beautiful, the most beautiful woman in my world.’’
She blinked, ’’So what?" She narrowed her eyes at him.
’’As you know, I’m fond of everything beautiful. Imagine me waking up without your beautiful face next to me. How sad!"
The corner of her lips twitched, ’’You... I hate you,’’ her eyes teared up again.
’’Princess, stop crying. I am sorry,’’ Aleister panicked for a split second, ’’Why are you crying so much today?" He hugged her. It was an unusual sight.
’’I don’t know,’’ Esme did not protest as she let him hug her. She raised her hands and wrapped them around his waist after some thought.
’’How can you not know?’’
’’I told you I don’t know,’’ Why was his childhood so difficult? And what did he go through in all those years to become the person he is today? ’’So, why don’t you want me to disappear?’’
’’Of course, it’s because you are mine. I am so helpless without you. How can I let go of you?"
’’Who is yours?" Esme broke the hug and rolled her eyes at him.
At least, she was not crying anymore, ’’You, who else?"
She shook her head and pushed him to look at the little Aleister.
Her gaze landed on the boy who was lying on the ground.
The Alpha had one of his paws pressed on the boy’s back.
