Chapter 231: Departure

As Leonard boarded the ship, he couldn’t help but feel melancholy.

When he first arrived at Velastra on the ship, he was at a complete loss.

Now that he was leaving, there was a sense of accomplishment and loss.

"There won’t be any mishap on this journey, right?" Leonard turned to Mirelle and asked.

He had no intention of being ambushed at the Virellian Sea again.

One time was enough.

Any more and that would be ridiculous!

"We have sent ships in advance to prevent mishaps," Mirelle responded and showed him the ship’s journey.

"What about the crews?"

"All have been screened properly."

Having said that, Mirelle soon retrieved a magical particle from her pouch.

"These are invented by Caroline to detect if the person is using any mana or magic at the moment. If there is, the particle would turn from blue to red." She explained its properties.

"Hoh, so basically a detection item." Leonard rubbed his chin softly. "How many more particles do you have?"

"I have about this much."

A few seconds later, Leonard was amazed by the amount she got. He was about to extend his hand to grab some of them, but ultimately paused.

"What are the hidden strings?" He retracted his hand and asked suspiciously.

Mirelle was rendered speechless. His defensive mechanism was too damn strong.

’I was so close.’ She cried inwardly. This particular item was gifted to her by Caroline, who said it could be her opportunity to regain his favor and trust.

She was just at the final stretch to get Leonard to accept the item when he suddenly turned 180 degrees.

Still, she was unwilling to give up now. 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺

"I just want you to give me another chance." She fidgeted with her fingers and said.

Despite being older and having more experience than Leonard, she always felt a sense of inferiority.

It was as if the person she was dealing with wasn’t some 15-year-old teenager but a 25-30-year-old adult.

"Didn’t I say you’re on probation?" Leonard raised an eyebrow.

"Keep forcing the issue, and I’ll spank you." He warned.

’S-Spank me?’ Mirelle was startled. She didn’t expect the usually serious person to utter such words as a joke.

Little did Mirelle know that Leonard was finally returning to his carefree style.

His seriousness was only meant for Velastra because they didn’t know who he was. But within the capital, Elarion, everyone perceived him as the incompetent 5th prince prior to his investiture.

Since that was the case, he might as well continue that role in the capital.

Not to mention, he had those mastermind protectors hiding, so he might as well take this as a break.

"How’s your massage skill?" Leonard leaned back on his chair and asked.

"Massage skill?" Confused, Mirelle glanced at her hands. Memories of her massaging her mentor resurfaced.

"I have some experience in it."

"Then, what are you waiting for?"

Leonard tapped on his shoulder lightly, signaling where he wanted to be massaged.

When the nearby Crimson Guards saw this scene, they were astonished.

At the end of the day, Mirelle was still a Sixth-Circle Mage. That was something where you would be respected in the Mage Association.

To tell a person of such status to give you a massage... even if you’re the Crown Prince, wasn’t that a bit too much?

Moreover, they doubted even the Emperor of Aldros would be that unruly and request such a task.

They thought another fallout would occur. Yet to their bewilderment, Mirelle actually stepped behind Leonard and placed her hands on his shoulders.

Soon, she began massaging his shoulders.

"How’s this strength?" Mirelle asked.

"You call this ’some’ experience?" Leonard had a face of relaxation. "You clearly massaged a lot before."

"Well, my Mentor is always sore." She explained softly. "She would require me to massage her and help relax her muscles."

"Have you massaged anyone aside from your mentor then?"

"Do you think people would dare to make me give them a massage?"

"You have a point there."

Leonard agreed that he was probably the only bold one to dare to raise such a request. Nevertheless, this was actually a small probing test.

He wanted to see if she was really determined to regain his favor or held another motive.

And this small probe had verified that she was serious.

After all, she was not just a Sixth-Circle Mage. She was also a native of the Xundraeth Continent.

Everyone knew the relationship between the Valdoria Continent and the Xundraeth Continent was tremulous. It only remained peaceful because both rulers from the two continents didn’t wish to benefit the other.

Moreover, the conflict between the two continents was merely a philosophical difference. It wasn’t as severe as the Xundraeth frequent border skirmishes with Kharnavos.

As their conversation continued, the nearby guards also knew to distance themselves. Although they made sure they were still in the protection range, they didn’t dare to eavesdrop further.

Who knows if they might be silenced by Mirelle later on?

Even if they might not be killed, they could still possibly be sent to the border or some other terrible places to work.

"Anyway, you’re going to start working as a guest lecturer in the academy once we return, right?" Leonard asked. He hadn’t forgotten about her reason for coming to the Valdoria Continent.

"Yes, that’s part of the deal I’ve established with them." Mirelle nodded and explained. "I’ll be teaching them practical spells and how to manage their mana properly in battles."

"Manage the mana properly, eh?" Leonard’s expression turned complicated.

Despite Caroline’s effort in resolving his Inverted Mana Flow Disorder, the result wasn’t quite optimistic.

As if understanding his plight, Mirelle quickly chimed in. "I wouldn’t worry too much, Crown Prince. That attack you did on Redflow was unique and unprecedented."

She wasn’t lying or consoling him in this aspect. When she recalled his finger gesture, she nearly had a goosebump.

That kind of explosive and penetrative power was unheard of. Redflow’s multi-layer shields couldn’t even withstand the shot at all.
