Endless World: The Rise of Leonard Lawson-Chapter 217: Pincer Attack
Ellie’s lightning-fast attack caught everyone by surprise except for Leonard.
He had perceived her movement, albeit barely.
As the punch was laid out, Redflow violently coughed up a mouthful of blood. The sound of his bones cracking resounded in the area.
’You’re telling me Ellie is just a little girl?’ Leonard twitched his mouth. He felt some goosebumps when he heard a loud cracking sound.
While Leonard was grateful that he didn’t treat Ellie harshly, Claudia was stupefied on the other hand.
"Am I already dead?" She was flabbergasted. A little girl was able to harm Redflow to such an extent, whereas she failed quite miserably.
How was that possible?
Sure, Redflow’s attention was focused on Curtis, but that still shouldn’t warrant such a scene.
Redflow’s perception of danger wasn’t some low ability.
"Nah, you’re not dead. Just incompetent." Leonard suddenly commented. "Both of you are assassins, but the disparity between the two of you is too high."
"You—" Claudia suppressed her anger. She hated his sarcastic remarks, but also couldn’t refute them whatsoever. From the beginning to the end, she was not Redflow’s opponent.
In fact, if it weren’t for Leonard’s timely arrival, then the bandage explosion from earlier would have taken her life.
"Thank you," she pursed her lips and gave her gratitude. There was no need for Leonard to intervene to save her life. Yet he still did it anyway.
Leonard ignored her thanks. His attention was solely focused on the person whom Claudia was fighting.
"You can confirm he’s Redflow?" He asked.
"Un, he’s definitely Redflow." Claudia nodded. "The movement and lethal attack are all consistent with an assassin’s trademark. Moreover, he bested me in every turn."
Even if it was discovered that the person wasn’t actually Redflow, the simple fact that they struck first and had such capability proved they were a dangerous foe.
"Make it swift, Curtis." Leonard calmly ordered. "Cassandra and I made a deal, so don’t embarrass me."
"Understood," Curtis responded and began advancing toward Redflow.
As the two started fighting, Claudia was left baffled.
’Cassandra? Isn’t that the Snake Faction Leader?’ She had done her investigation, so she quickly identified the person whom Leonard mentioned.
Naturally, there was more than one person with the name Cassandra. But only one candidate fit the category that could potentially make a deal with Leonard.
Whether it was his fake alias as a merchant or his real status as the Crown Prince.
While Claudia was alarmed by Leonard’s means to quickly establish some form of communication with the Snake Faction Leader, a sudden shriek of cries echoed.
PLOP!
Ted, who had been battling with Mirelle since the beginning, lay flat on the ground. His body was a bloody mess, his hair disheveled, and his eyes were hazy.
"I-Impossible..." Ted struggled to move his limbs. His face expressed deep horror as he glanced at Mirelle.
Mirelle descended from the air with grace. There was a look of contempt in her eyes.
"I don’t understand why you would target us. Have we even met before?" She asked coolly.
Ted wanted to reply, but ended up coughing another mouthful of blood.
"Stop coughing blood," Mirelle scoffed and gave a kick to his stomach.
Instantly, Ted’s pupils constricted from the impact. His body also slid across the field and coincidentally landed next to Leonard.
"Now who is this clown?" Leonard raised an eyebrow. "Another Redflow candidate?"
"Doubt it. His moves are amateurish and beyond laughable." Mirelle approached him and shook her head.
’Amateurish my ass...’ Claudia suppressed her emotion. She could tell Mirelle was boasting in hopes of gaining some affinity with Leonard.
If Ted were truly unskilled, then it wouldn’t have taken her so long to deal with him.
"Whatever, we’ll interrogate this person later on." Leonard lost interest in Ted and shifted his attention to Curtis’ fight.
"Go and assist him," he commanded.
"Yes," Mirelle nodded and vanished from the spot.
Time quickly went by, and the battle quickly turned into a fierce stalemate.
Despite Mirelle and Curtis teaming up, Redflow’s elusive and sly movement ensured he held his ground.
This situation caused Leonard to frown deeply. Even after Redflow had been punched ruthlessly by Ellie, the former was still a force to reckon with.
’A platinum rank assassin is already this difficult to deal with, then what about the higher ranking?’ A cold chill ran down Leonard’s spine.
He came to learn that even if one had a powerful magic circle, it didn’t mean they were omnipotent. Battle experience and keen perception were also major factors in a fight.
"Big brother, is that person your enemy?" Amidst Leonard’s fear, he suddenly felt a warm hand touching him.
"Mhmm, he’s an enemy." Leonard turned to Ellie and patted her head. "But fret not, he won’t be able to touch us."
Ellie received the message and narrowed her eyes. There was an air of coolness around her as she locked onto Redflow.
Redflow was currently in the defensive position, but it was evident that his condition remained well. After all, Curtis specialized in defense and not offense.
Just when the battle continued to be balanced, Ellie suddenly launched herself towards Redflow.
"Again??!" Alerted, Redflow reacted almost instantaneously. He had suffered from her hand before, so his instinct labeled her as a dangerous foe.
"A chance!" Mirelle controlled the surrounding mana and cast a triple-layered spell.
"Damn it," Redflow hissed coldly. He was now under a pincer attack.
One that was extremely difficult to decide.
A sixth-circle mage or a little girl with unknown power?
Either one was filled with risk!
’Right, these people all seemed submissive to that young man over there. As long as I capture him, my escape is guaranteed.’ Redflow’s eyes glinted in a cold light.
In the next instance, he controlled his bandages to attack Mirelle.
Mirelle sneered and was about to respond. She blasted through the bandages, only to discover it was a feint.
His true objective was actually Leonard. She wanted to stop his movement.
"Hmph, realized it too late." Redflow snorted as he had already closed the distance between him and Leonard.
