Endless Evolution: Last Star-Chapter 1625: Plans
Adam took his time and didn't leave the Primal Lands until the next morning.
Keranda needed to return to the clan, after all, she was supposed to become the next leader, since everyone knew that Zargos would never agree to take on that role. For him, it was too much unnecessary work, though he had to admit that if he'd wanted to do it, he would have found plenty of supporters among the Flaming Eye Clan.
So, Merra and Zargos set off with Adam.
There were no surprises here, just like Ramilo, they headed to the Ice Path and summoned an earthworm.
Anyone could do this, not just members of the Old Light. The main thing was that a person had done it before and had experience with it.
Tremble. Tremble. Tremble.
A slight tremor rippled across the ground as the earthworm approached the Citadel. A few hours ago, they had left the Primal Lands and had already traversed most of the Dead Lands.
"Hey, Adam, what's with the long face?" Zargos grinned, leaning on his hand.
He was lying on the back of the giant worm as if on a beach.
"Shouldn't you be happy that you're finally going home?"
Adam scratched his cheek.
"Yeah, I guess you're right, just… I can't get the thoughts of the trials awaiting me out of my head. I came to the Primal Lands to fulfill one condition, but in the end, I got something completely different and two more energy types."
Merra turned to him.
"The final decision is yours, but if I were you, I wouldn't rush into anything. No one knows what obstacles lie ahead. I'm sure you've mastered all your abilities perfectly, but Ancient Energy and Dark Energy are a whole different matter. You need time to understand this power."
Zargos snapped his fingers.
"Yep, she's right. I don't know where you're headed next, but I'm sure it'll be a dangerous place—after all, that's the only way to get stronger. You need to prepare as well as you possibly can."
"Sure. I'll take your advice."
Then, Zargos looked around as he closed his eyes for a moment. His aura spread out, the faint field extending for tens of kilometers around him.
"We're getting close, Adam. We can drop you off near a White Threat Nest, or head straight to the Citadel," Zargos suggested.
Adam glanced over his shoulder. "Which option would you recommend?"
"The first one." Zargos yawned. "There won't be any problems with either option, but if we stop right under the Citadel, questions and scrutiny are inevitable. I mean, I'll probably act calmly at the Citadel. There are Phantoms here with terrifying power."
Merra nodded silently.
Many monsters and the Phantoms had good relations, or at least working ones. But that didn't mean they were best friends.
If a powerful monster approached the Citadel, an inspection was unavoidable.
Obviously, Zargos didn't need that headache.
"Got it. Then drop me off near some cave. Who knows, maybe someone will need my help."
"Hah! I knew you'd make the right decision!" Zargos exclaimed happily and patted the earthworm three times. "Did you hear him, buddy? We're changing course!"
Tremble.
The earthworm trembled and turned sharply into a small tunnel.
Just ten minutes later, the earthworm stopped in front of a crack. It was the entrance to a simple cave in the Monster Nest. Perhaps there were some Phantoms on a mission there right now, or they were planning to come here soon.
"Are we there?" Adam asked.
Zargos nodded with a warm smile.
"Yeah. I'd like you to stay with me a little longer, but I understand that you need to move on. We all have our own business to attend to. So, see you next time."
"Thanks. If I return from the Primal Lands, I definitely won't forget about your clan." He looked at Merra. "Thank you, too. If it weren't for you, those two Lords would've probably killed me."
She touched her chest.
"You protected me, too, when I needed it most. Take care of yourself."
Adam nodded and jumped down.
Soon, the earthworm trembled and headed back along the Ice Path. A few hours later, Zargos and Merra returned to the Primal Lands.
"Hah…" Adam chuckled, looking up. "So, while I was on missions near the Citadel, right under my feet, such powerful monsters were moving around on those huge beasts? Tsk, if someone had told me that, I wouldn't have believed it for a second."
The stronger Adam became, the better he understood just how vast this world was and how interconnected its various parts were.
"Well, maybe I should return to the Tarnished Lands on my next mission?" Adam muttered, scratching the back of his head. "The Primal Lands and especially the Dark Shore… that's not my level yet. What do you think about that?"
Silvana blinked.
'I think you should go home now, then we'll discuss everything. Unfortunately, neither of the two remaining conditions will be easy to fulfill.'
Adam shrugged.
"Yeah, that's true."
Step. Step. Step.
Adam walked through the crevice, climbing up the narrow cave. Eventually, when he reached the very top, he found himself facing a massive boulder blocking the passage ahead. 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚
It wasn't just a random rock, but rather a secret entrance.
"I see, so I'm not the first one to use this passage? Well, that's to be expected — I need to do everything right."
Crack.
Adam pushed against the boulder, moving it aside, walked through, and closed the passage behind him. This was the far end of the cave, hidden in darkness.
If a person didn't know what was behind that boulder, it would be impossible to realize there was a secret passage below.
"Hah, it would be awkward if someone saw what was hidden underground too soon."
Silvana smirked.
'Well, well, so now we're on the side that's hiding important information from others?'
He shrugged.
"What can I say? The more you know, the more trouble you have."
He looked around, seeing faint, amber lights in the distance.
"Anyway. Where the hell are we?"
