Endless Debt-Chapter 846: Prologue: Bloodstained Night 6
"Farewell, Your Majesty. I hope you can sleep more peacefully in the future, after all..."
The Second Seat didn’t finish his sentence and let out a chilling laugh.
He turned and rushed with Xilin towards the elevator shaft from which they came. At that very moment, the surrounding rocks collapsed, revealing the hidden flesh beneath them, which surged forward attempting to stop the Second Seat. But before they could get close, they were turned to ashes by the Fire Sword in the Second Seat’s hand.
The ash billowed upward, and without the aid of the elevator, the Second Seat, with Xilin, leaped and bounded within the shaft, quickly ascending.
The Second Seat felt his chest trembling. To him, what was terrifying wasn’t the parasite itself, but what lay behind it. He couldn’t believe he was so close to a Devil.
The Second Seat emerged from the elevator shaft with Xilin, not pausing for a moment as they descended from the Pillar of Royal Authority. Xilin thought he would fall to his death, but after the rush of wind, he and the Second Seat landed steadily on the ground. When he looked up, the crowd had surrounded them.
The Second Seat asked, "What’s the situation?"
"The First Seat is attacking fiercely," one of them replied, "We’ve been relying on the Void Realm of the Pillar of Royal Authority, but we can’t hold them for long."
"It’s alright, let them take their time. The initial design of this Void Realm was prepared for the Order Bureau’s siege of the Pillar of Royal Authority."
Even without looking, the Second Seat could feel the First Seat’s heart-stopping Ethereal Fluctuation from a distance, like mountains roaring and seas crashing.
"The mission has encountered some unexpected issues," the Second Seat glanced at Xilin, "But there’s no other choice; after all, it’s the King’s final command."
Another person remarked, "Others are worried about the First Seat’s counterattack... Our subsequent conflict might lead to the fracture of the King’s Secret Sword, and even civil war."
"Don’t worry, that parasite is just scared of dying, but not stupid. If we have a civil war, the Order Bureau won’t miss the opportunity, and the royal legitimacy is on our side," the Second Seat patted Xilin’s shoulder, then looked at the Pillar of Royal Authority, "Besides, he still needs Xilin; against the First Seat, we have plenty of leverage."
Xilin didn’t understand what the Second Seat was talking about, but he noticed that these people, like the Second Seat and his teacher, all wore the Secret Sword.
Recalling the man’s gaze before he died, the Second Seat murmured to Xilin, "You picked up a life... Your Majesty?"
Xilin didn’t understand the mockery in the Second Seat’s words.
The Second Seat continued to stare into Xilin’s eyes, sighing, "Quite similar indeed."
The Second Seat tugged at Xilin, indicating for him to follow, but Xilin stood rooted to the spot.
"What on earth happened?"
Facing Xilin’s confused and blank eyes, the Second Seat said, "You’ll know in time."
Xilin seemed to snap out of it for the first time, realizing the extent of the power the Second Seat wielded. As if seeing hope, he shouted at the Second Seat, "Kill him! Second Seat, I command you to kill him!"
The Second Seat shook his head, saying helplessly, "Sorry, I can’t kill that guy, and besides, it’s not my mission."
Xilin didn’t understand. Clearly, the Second Seat and the other King’s Secret Swords were here, so why didn’t they go and kill that creature?
He growled low like a young beast, hitting the Second Seat powerlessly, appearing foolish in the eyes of the people around them, as if he were a trapped beast.
As if using up all his strength, Xilin gradually calmed down, grasping the corner of the Second Seat’s clothes, his gaze fixated on the ground.
In an instant, Xilin seemed to mature many years, his eyes bearing a maturity and sorrow beyond his age. He summoned all his courage, stared directly at the towering column, then reached out and took the Secret Sword from the Second Seat.
The flames entwined on the Blade extinguished. In that moment, Xilin understood that it indeed wasn’t the Second Seat’s mission.
The man’s last words echoed around Xilin’s ears, like a curse etched into his heart. Meanwhile, faint shadows enveloped Xilin, slowly drifting around him.
"Liberate it all..."
This was his, Xilin Kagader’s, mission.
