Endless Debt-Chapter 829 - 272: Unstoppable (Part 3)
The Grievous Bite sliced open the skull of the Fear-Devouring Demon, then the neck, chest cavity, and lumbar vertebrae, until Bologue had almost completely driven the Grievous Bite into the demon’s body before he stopped. The blade struck horizontally, and a large portion of the body fell smoothly, as if a masterful surgeon had cut it, revealing the clear cross-section of the torso.
Bologue then cleaved down a Scythe, facing the multitude of demons. Bologue grasped the Giant Scythe single-handedly, swinging it with all his strength, rotating his body. The deadly edge cut down all demons that approached, bisecting them one by one. Then Bologue let go, and the Giant Scythe toppled a large group of demons, leaving behind a mess of bleeding dismembered limbs.
He was panting heavily, his body temperature alarmingly high, sweat mixed with blood evaporated, creating steaming hot vapor.
The Hunters leveled more than half of the battlefield; they had encountered far scarier situations than this. At the moment, it meant nothing. Everything was so orderly: slay the enemies, seize the ground, and await another round of bombardment. They attacked like soldiers, moving like an army.
Ewen continued his clumsy dance steps, but compared to his earlier vigor, his pace had undeniably slowed. Footprints filled with dust imprinted the workbench one by one, followed by dripping blood falling.
Asmodeus looked at Ewen’s blood-drained, pale face. He spun Asmodeus around, with every revolution seeing high walls collapse and spires fall. This seemed like a dance of apocalypse, with Daisy Castle almost entirely collapsed, heavy bricks burying all the invading demons. Perhaps when Ewen stops, everything would be over.
"You really are a selfish guy, huh?"
Asmodeus suddenly spoke, "You say you don’t care about anything, but all this is to satisfy yourself, your own sense of realized value, Muse’s eternity."
Ewen cracked an unpleasant smile; he didn’t reply, merely savoring the aftertaste of the revelry.
Bologue’s mad strikes gradually slowed down; from just now, Palmer and Aimou had also descended from the ruined colossal library, carving out a line at the front, blocking the demon’s assault firmly.
They just needed to hold off until the hunters pushed the battle line forward, but the demons didn’t intend to yield easily — Asmodeus didn’t want to yield.
The frenzied powers converged on the battlefield, darkness nearly taking physical form, brewing within the corpses piled into a mountain. The hunters cautiously halted their steps, while the demons wailed, fleeing to the sides. Yet before they could get far, a strong suction force captured them.
On the battlefield, it seemed a black hole appeared out of nowhere, emerging within the burning sea of flowers, pulling at everything around. The hideous and hideous demons pressed against each other, layered upon layered. Under the pressure of that terrifying force, their bodies bent and twisted bizarrely, faces overlapping, finally transforming into a mountain-high black egg.
The terrifying demon tide instantly diminished. Most of the demons were swallowed by the black egg, leaving only a few demons wandering on the battlefield, yet they no longer posed a threat.
After hacking down the final demon before him, Bologue also saw the towering black egg. The surface of the egg was like a mural, carved with all sorts of oddities. The entire land was covered in flesh; it seemed a product born from flesh, akin to an obelisk rising from the ground.
Bologue did not relax; surrounding the black egg was a sea of burning flowers. The orange-red light cast upon the egg’s body seemed as if it were within a firepit, reminiscent of some evil sacrificial ritual.
The hunters were the first to fire upon the black egg. Bullets hit the egg’s shell, sparking showers. Its surface was exceedingly hard, akin to metal; train cannons and thermite smashed onto the egg’s shell, unable to shake the black egg.
Bologue’s heart tightened. He had thought this would be the end of the battle; now it seemed it wouldn’t end so easily.
Murmuring heartbeats sounded from within the black egg, then the black surface seemed to become transparent, the interior glowed with the same orange-red light, as if raging flames were burning within the egg shell, almost incinerating all flesh.
Crimson patterns crept along the twisted reliefs of the demons on the surface. The glow within the patterns gradually intensified until the high temperature completely melted the solid surface shell, exploding open with a bang.
Under the egg shell was an ensemble of overlapping creations, several meters high, akin to a giant lotus. With the extension of petals like high towers, its form kept growing larger, such that the towering pure white petals nearly covered the entire battlefield.
It was so massive, yet had a hard-to-describe sense of lightness, like pieces of rolling white clouds, swaying with the breeze.
A sweet incense masked the battlefield’s scorching, rotting stench. Bologue gently inhaled, feeling a comforting sensation refreshing his mind.
Before he realized it, black mist released from the roots of the giant lotus, silently lapping over the corpses like a tide. The scorching battlefield rapidly cooled, the soil mixed with flesh swiftly froze, layers of solid frost covered the soft bodies.
Bologue was slightly dazed; no matter how he thought, he didn’t expect the egg shell would nurture such a thing. Just as he relaxed, the giant lotus fully bloomed, its petals extending gleefully, obscuring the night sky. The air was pierced with ear-splitting screeching noises, like steel needles stabbing the eardrums, searing the nerves.
