Endless Debt-Chapter 741 - 220 Devil’s Territory_2
Bologue walked toward Ewen, his words like the judge pronouncing a guilty verdict.
"You claim your pursuit is just to seek inspiration. I can see that in your works; indeed, they bear many shadows of the Extraordinary World.
But is it really so? With no fear of death’s threat, spending so many years just to find some writing inspiration?"
Unlike Palmer, Bologue was never Ewen’s fanatical admirer. From the beginning, Bologue had observed Ewen through the most rational and cold lens, and under Bologue’s surveillance, Ewen finally showed a trace of unease.
"Of course."
Ewen was not intimidated by Bologue. He pondered how to escape, the time to board the train drawing nearer; he couldn’t afford to be delayed by Bologue.
"You’ve checked me. I’m just an ordinary person—a purely ordinary person."
After speaking, Ewen didn’t forget to retaliate, "Do you always do this? Like to gauge others from the basest perspective."
"I don’t like it," Bologue said, "but often, I have no choice."
"That’s truly unfortunate."
Bologue pressed on, "In that case, what are you here to do?"
Ewen said, "I want to find a quiet place to organize my thoughts and prepare some writing material."
"And open the door to jump from the train and escape?" Bologue laughed, "Ewen, you haven’t grasped the Extraordinary World."
Cold snakes crawled up Ewen’s body; Ewen was completely dominated by Bologue, with no chance to flee.
"I can sense the power within you, that frenzied, evil force loathed and stemming from the Devil."
As Bologue narrated, serpents wormed into Ewen’s collar; Ewen wanted to resist, but the snakes held him tight, like shackles in a cage, leaving him helpless.
Bologue touched upon Ewen’s most prized possession, stirring Ewen into a rage, yet he had no power to fight back, watching as the snakes elegantly lifted his train ticket and carried it back to Bologue’s hand.
"Return it to me, Bologue, let me go," Ewen struggled to manage his emotions, "You’re not bad people; I don’t want to drag you into this."
Bologue ignored Ewen’s words; he could distinctly perceive that the devilish power came from this small train ticket.
"Joyful Garden..."
Bologue read the text on it, words both unfamiliar and familiar, something he never imagined he would read at this moment.
This was a ticket to board the Joy Park train; apart from the train’s name, it held only the boarding time. Judging by the time marked, it was a few minutes away.
Bologue blinked, and the marked time changed accordingly. It was no longer a few minutes away but... now!
The sound of a woman’s faint mocking laughter echoed, and at the same time, waves of Ether erupted from the carriage at the train’s rear, as if a powerful foe arrived. Yet, aside from his own faction’s Ether reaction, Bologue sensed no other Ether reaction.
Malevolent will toyed with mortals; the boarding time had been moved up, leaving no time at all.
The pitch-black night completely shrouded the sky, engulfing all light; amid the infinite darkness, a melodious whistle rang out, and the tracks trembled violently.
Bologue couldn’t see the situation outside, but from those chaotic sounds and vibrations, he could sense what was happening beyond.
Without any warning, a train appeared out of thin air on the tracks, thundering forward.
...
Canary saw Lebius at the train’s rear; he seemed deep in thought, gazing long at the distant horizon, where the sun was nearly swallowed into darkness, leaving only the soft light fading slowly as night was about to descend.
Lebius turned his head, he wasn’t acquainted with Canary; it was Belphegor who connected them, and for the time ahead, they belonged to the same faction, sharing aligned interests.
"There’s been a problem." 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂
Canary looked at Lebius anxiously, "If not for the Tooth of Deathly Silence, I could have handled this myself, but it’s different now. I need your help."
As she spoke, she raised the Dagger, following through with Bai Ou’s head. To restrain Bai Ou’s Undying Body and Secret Energy, Canary used the Contract Object to seal both. Now, Canary was no different from an ordinary person, which required the Order Bureau’s escort on the return journey.
"What happened?"
Lebius treated the matter seriously, given Canary’s special identity, troubles she encountered often involved the Devil; in this operation, they entangled with the Devil for far too long.
Canary hesitated; she could never have imagined the previous actions would impact subsequent events... perhaps this too was a part of Belphegor’s plot, but she had no time to ponder over it.
Canary’s optimal solution now was to confess to Lebius and seek assistance from the Order Bureau. She had finally captured Bai Ou and couldn’t let him escape like this.
Canary took out a ticket, handed it to Lebius.
As Canary extracted the ticket, Lebius immediately sensed its peculiarity. When he deciphered the text and the shifting time on the ticket, Lebius’s demeanor turned completely cold.
"Joyful Garden..."
Names both familiar and strange, Lebius had once fought alongside Geoffrey against Joyful Garden in days past; back then, Joyful Garden only caused an unusual Void Realm incident, randomly appearing somewhere to cause disaster, and then quietly leaving.
