CHAPTER 329 – Denied 2

"Wu Bai!" Beatrice felt her throat close up, she wanted to yell his name but disappointedly, it came out as a whisper.

The disbelief and shock were clearly plastered on her face.

"It makes no sense to you?" Beatrice said through gritted teeth as she met his stare, "it makes no sense to you? Was making her…!"

"Listen," Wu Bai clipped her off with his serious tone, "you can't blame me for this without having the evidence. I refuse to be implicated here," he stated firmly without battling his eyelids.

A tiny glint of half triumph flashed in the eyes of lawyer Chang, not until Attorney Longwei got to her feet.

"My lord, it looks to me like there's more to the story than meets the eye, I suggest we adjourn the case for another day, there's still a chance that my client here was forced to do what she did."

Longwei thoughtfully added, wanting to twist the whole scenario and make Wu Bai a suspect and to her relief, the judge looked into it before adjourning the case for another day.

It would be much better for her if this was done than implicating both of them in this.

She had barely saved one and the same stupid client was exonerating herself alone while pinning the blame on someone else without proof. 𝐟re𝐞w𝐞𝒃𝓃𝒐𝐯𝚎𝒍.c૦𝚖

She did not need a soothsayer to tell her the kind of person Wu Bai was and how her client, Beatrice Zhang was going to be the one on the losing end if she doesn't handle the case well.

Rather than letting Lawyer Chang preside over taking control of the flow of the case, it was high time to put a mid-stop to it.

At the very least it was going to hurt Lawyer Chang, he could not finish her in this case.

Agreeing to her request, the judge allowed for an adjournment of the case while Beatrice was held in custody.

By the time everyone had left, Andromeda could not hold in her laughter as she retained her seat to the amazement of her team.

Liu Xueyi on the other hand did not say anything and strode over to where she was. "Andy."

"Hmm?" She did not spare him a glance and looked ahead.

"It's time to go," he calmly reminded. "We cannot stay in the court for too long."

"I know."

"Good. So be a good girl and let us leave."

"I find it funny, you know," she began, gaining his interest as he stopped and waited for her to continue. "He never expected it and neither did she. Both are denying each other."

"Yes. This is a good thing for us."

"Good. Now we need to light the fire underneath their seat. Hmm?"

"Sure."

Getting his assurance, Andromeda's smile broadened as she rose up from her seat effortlessly, taking Liu Xueyi's hand. B the time she turned around and faced her friends, she was met with smiling faces and nodded.

"This is going to be good."

Seated in an empty room save for a plain white table in the centre with two opposing chairs and a very light bulb in the centre, Beatrice Zhang lowered her head as her mind kept replaying past situations for her.

How she had fallen to this state, she could not comprehend it.

Suddenly the door pushed open with a small bang as Attorney Longwei marched in with her suit left open to fly in response to her fierce walking step.

Even the way she opened the door was not enough to pull Beatrice out of her trance. Seeing the sorry sight of her client, she huffed loudly and dropped her bag on the table before her.

Slowly, Beatrice lifted her head. Her expression was nothing close to being deadpan and serious as her eyes burned with untold anger.

Placing both hands on her waist, Attorney Longwei shifted her right leg out and twisted her open lips to the side while her eyes washed over Beatrice Zhang.

No words came between either ladies as they engaged in a little staring contest. The little tension building between the two of them.

After a few minutes, Attorney Longwei could no longer handle the annoying silence and voiced out her thoughts.

"What was the meaning of the nonsense stunt you pulled?"

"Nonsense? Stunt?" Beatrice asked sarcastically before pulling out long bitter laughter and stopping abruptly. "Excuse me?"

"You heard me."

"No. I heard you quite well, but did you call everything that happened in that courtroom nonsense?"

"Yes," Attorney Longwei affirmed.

"Hah. I see." She moved her head to the side, allowing her smile to drop.

At that moment, Attorney Longwei was shocked when she saw Beatrice snap her head in her direction, glaring daggers at her.

"Easy for you to say when you are not the one who is being convicted for crimes."

"Ones you clearly and stupidly did thinking it would trace back at you," Longwei lashed, forgetting her professionalism.

She was not one to allow her anger out before a client or even before most people. She bottled it in, till she got home where she unwound.

However, never had she encountered one as foolish as Beatrice Zhang.

The latter knew her opponent needed her to fall and falling meant the entire company. While it would have been safe to save Wu Bai, she did not.

This was someone who could have easily saved her should things go a-wire.

However, here she was, roping him into the matter entirely.

"Shout all you want. I do not need your permission before I do that which would save me."

'Save you?" Attorney Longwei pulled her head back and scoffed loudly. "Do you mean you are this dull?"

"No. But from the way I see it, you are the one who is. "

"Say what you want. At least my brain has been what has gotten us this far," Longwei informed her.

"Yes, and straight to a dead end."

"Had you kept quiet and told me about the case of Ms. Peng, I would be able to avert such a crisis."

"Nah. I said you are dull not because of that but because of your belief in Wu Bai."

"What?"
