Embroidered Uniform Guard: I Can Plunder Talents-Chapter 30: Disgusting, Aren’t You! Lord Wan Thousand Households
When Ye Liuyun arrived at the Embroidered Uniform Guard.
Si Nan and Shi Sheng were already here waiting for him, but judging from their faces, something had happened, and none of them looked too pleased.
"What’s going on?"
"Sir!"
Seeing Ye Liuyun ask, Si Nan immediately sidled up, speaking in a low voice.
"Lu Quan, the Lord Hundred Households, is here." 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞
Lu Quan?
Ye Liuyun’s brows shot up. If not for this reminder, he’d nearly forgotten that such a person even existed.
Wasn’t he the one who hosted at Golden Tower last time, then made me go and pay the bill?
Showing up now, it’s gotta be connected to yesterday’s Golden Saber Sect incident, right? Ye Liuyun waved a hand, telling Si Nan not to worry, and swaggered into the Embroidered Uniform Guard.
Sure enough.
Just as he walked in, he saw Lu Quan waiting for him.
"Been waiting for quite a while, Ye Lord Hundred!"
Seeing Ye Liuyun arrive, Lu Quan grinned, immediately rising to greet him.
But the look in his eyes was obviously tinged with calculation and mockery.
"Does Lord Hundred Households Lu have business with me so early this morning?"
"It’s not me who has business—it’s Lord Thousand Households Wan."
Lord Thousand Households Wan?
Who the hell is this now?
Seeing Ye Liuyun didn’t reply, Lu Quan went on bluntly.
"Ye Lord Hundred, did you forget? The money seized at Golden Saber Sect last night—seven-tenths of it should go to Lord Thousand Households Wan. But Lord Wan is feeling generous since you’re now a Lord Hundred, so from now on, you only have to hand over half!"
"..."
I busted my ass to earn that cash, and now I have to give a chunk to this so-called Lord Thousand Households?
The Embroidered Uniform Guard might not be big, but its factions are plenty. Pretty much every Lord Thousand stands as his own clique. The former Liu Feng used to side with Lord Wan, knowing the guy loved money and always played to his tastes.
Every time he got any dirty money, he’d carve out a hefty slice for this so-called Lord Wan.
Lu Quan was one of Lord Wan’s cronies.
Originally, he’d come hoping to make Ye Liuyun cough up some cash, and maybe roast him with a few sarcastic words for good measure.
But—
"If it’s in my hands, it’s mine. If Lord Wan wants money, he can take his bowl and go beg at the city gates; won’t make a difference in the beggar pile."
Opening your mouth and yapping for money—where do you get the nerve?
If I were still stuck in the Postnatal Realm, maybe I’d keep it low-key, since he’s a Lord Thousand.
But sorry, I’m an Innate Martial Artist now.
Whether I pay you any damn mind is up to me!
"Ye Liufeng, you’ve got some nerve!"
Lu Quan honestly hadn’t expected the guy wouldn’t even bother with Lord Wan’s face, and while he barked a reprimand, there was a hint of excitement in his eyes.
Obviously, he planned to use this chance to hit back and punish Ye Liuyun.
"Just wait—I’ll be telling Lord Wan exactly what happened. You better be ready for his punishment."
With that, Lu Quan promptly stormed off, footsteps hurried—as if he couldn’t wait to report this back.
Ye Liuyun narrowed his eyes slightly, silently watching Lu Quan’s departing figure.
"Sir, Lu Quan’s bound to smear your name in front of Lord Wan," Si Nan said, worried, coming over.
In contrast, Shi Sheng on the side didn’t seem at all worried; instead, his eyes gleamed with excitement.
If the circumstances had been less tense, Shi Sheng would’ve cheered out loud at what Ye Liuyun just said—he’d been itching to say that stuff ages ago.
Nobody’s more annoying than those who hold a post, do nothing, and only think about raking in cash.
Ye Liuyun hadn’t really taken guys like Lu Quan seriously before.
But now, with all that jumping around, the guy’s really just a toad crawling on your foot—doesn’t bite, but damn if it isn’t an itch.
"Find a few men to tail him quietly. As soon as he leaves the Imperial City, have someone come report to me."
Compared to scheming and plotting, Ye Liuyun liked swift, direct methods.
To deal with this talentless, jabbering toad, Ye Liuyun had only one approach: stomp it flat.
If you insist on pissing me off right after I’ve broken through to the Innate Realm and am in a great mood, well, if somebody’s gonna die, it sure won’t be me.
"Understood!"
Si Nan wasn’t dumb—he instantly got what Ye Liuyun meant.
He was shocked by his lord’s boldness, but secretly fired up. Compared to the old way, having such a ruthless master was way more inspiring.
Within the Imperial City, you can’t just attack someone.
But outside the city walls, who gives a damn how you died?
"Alright, go ahead and tell me—what’s Lord Wan’s deal anyway? What background does he have that I don’t know about?"
Up to now, Ye Liuyun only knew there was a Lord Thousand called Wan.
Didn’t even know the guy’s real name, much less his background.
But if it’s info, Si Nan’s not stumped. He promptly started explaining things to Ye Liuyun.
...
Meanwhile...
Lu Quan clearly didn’t know Ye Liuyun already had him pegged for death.
Upon returning to Lord Wan’s side, he instantly switched faces, saying with a hint of grievance,
"Lord Thousand, that Ye Liufeng’s been out of line ever since he became a Lord Hundred. I told him to fork over some of the money seized yesterday for you, and he actually told me to get lost—he even said all kinds of bad things about you."
If you can make it in the Embroidered Uniform Guard—
Whatever else can be said, this face-changing skill is absolutely first-class.
Lord Wan’s full name was Wan Feiliang.
His face was slightly feminine, with a few strands of white at the temples—clearly, he was getting on in years.
Each Lord Thousand in the Embroidered Uniform Guard had his own private courtyard.
Wan Feiliang had just been carefully watering his flowers. Listening to Lu Quan’s report, Wan Feiliang’s hands didn’t pause; he kept watering and spoke in a sharp voice,
"That’s normal—you know how the young are, hot-headed and full of themselves. Just got promoted to Lord Hundred, a little cocky is no big deal. He’ll shape up after a little grinding."
Wan Feiliang’s tone was perfectly calm.
Clearly, he’d seen this kind of thing plenty—nothing new under the sun.
Lu Quan’s heart giddily rejoiced at hearing this.
So what if you’re a fellow Lord Hundred? If I want to screw with you, it’s a piece of cake, isn’t it?
Thinking about Ye Liuyun’s impending doom with Lord Wan eyeing him, Lu Quan was almost giggling inside.
He managed to hold it in, keeping up an outward show of hesitance.
"Lord Thousand, Ye Liufeng’s father-in-law was once a Third Grade official at court. He might not be so easy to deal with, right?"
Setting aside the watering can,
Wan Feiliang pinched his orchid fingers, smoothed the hair at his temples, and said carelessly,
"Like you said, it’s all ’once’—used to be a Third Grade, that’s all. People never learn to face reality. Already retired, yet instead of enjoying his golden years, he insists on meddling. Sooner or later, he’s gonna drop dead."
Wan Feiliang was talking about Ye Liuyun’s father-in-law.
Wan Feiliang had a weighty background. Not only did he know about Ye Liuyun, he even knew about Ye Liuyun’s father-in-law.
He’d long known that the old man hadn’t just helped Ye Liuyun, but had sponsored lots of people to rise through the ranks, all for one thing—so even after retirement, he could still pull strings at the imperial court of the Great Qian Dynasty.
