Fengye Territory North, Augus City.
This major city sits at the border between Fengye Territory and the Empire’s Western Domain, once home to over two hundred thousand people. It’s also the gateway from the Western Domain to Fengye Territory.
The city is established along a range of hills, crowned by a magnificent castle, looking over the crescent-shaped city.
That is Folzer Castle, belonging to the Folzer family, also the noble family ruling over this city, with the lord being Viscount Folzer.
On the other side of the castle lies a beautiful lake named August Lake, supposedly transliterated from Elven language meaning "beauty."
The lake sits to the city’s west, with a winding river running through the lake, stretching into the distance until joining the Vimur River to the west...
In the eyes of the Empire’s people, Augus City is a picturesque landscape.
Neat, beautiful streets, shimmering lakes, lush forests, and endless green wheat fields stretching afar...
If not for the war, this place would be a famous vacation spot in the Western Domain, with almost every notable noble family in the Empire’s west owning lakeside villas and estates.
However, everything has changed now.
The Border Lord rebelled for independence, establishing the Red Maple Kingdom and led the army northward, initiating a Holy War against the Empire. The terrified Folzer family fled with its members, abandoning the citizens.
Although elder soldiers and civilians left in Augus City banded together to resist voluntarily, they ultimately couldn’t counter the Red Maple Kingdom’s troops. After less than half a month, the city fell.
The Red Maple Kingdom army that captured the city recruited nobles who surrendered and converted, launching a bloody looting, suppression, and massacre against the city’s resisters—every heretic either slaughtered or forcibly converted.
The current city has seen its population almost halved.
Inside the city, all the former prosperity and buzz have vanished, leaving behind much desolation.
The streets have few passing citizens, and most houses on both sides have closed doors. It’s uncertain if the residents have left or are avoiding the lawless soldiers from the Red Maple Kingdom.

The tower is outfitted with magical telescopes, made by elves, capable of observing nearly twenty kilometers in radius.
And now, a soldier from the Red Maple Kingdom stands on the tower, on guard duty.
The Red Maple Kingdom’s army has advanced into the depths of the Western Domain, engaging with the Empire’s newly formed counter-army; strictly speaking, this place is no longer a frontline.
Thus... although keeping watch, the soldier appears significantly more relaxed.
Nonetheless, he periodically makes use of the magic telescope to scout the distance or check the sky for reconnaissance demon beasts.
Yet, as he lazily glanced towards the sky once again, he noticed a moving elliptical object rapidly heading in the direction of the city.
"What’s that?"
He furrowed his brows slightly.
