Chapter 966: Chapter 676: Battle Plan (Supplemental Update) (Part 2)

Once the first teleportation array is established, alongside the placement of the first statue of the Goddess, it’s akin to driving a nail into Fengye Territory, allowing for the relentless expansion of the Goddess’s influence, step by step.

This... is also the common practice among various factions in Segis World during the Holy War.

"You must already have a detailed strategy in place, correct? Since you chose to cross the river, it means you’re planning to advance from the heart of Fengye Territory to cut off the route between the Western Domain and Fengye Territory."

"Specifically, I imagine you’ve already made your calculations, so proceed according to your plan."

"Although I am the commissioner, I don’t know much about military campaigns. Dongdong once told me during her teachings that there’s a popular saying among the Elf Clan: Leave professional matters to the professionals. I completely agree."

"Therefore... please go ahead and execute. Just tell me the concrete plan and how I need to cooperate."

Looking at the respectful Elf Commander, Sofia spoke earnestly.

Li Mu:...

He cleared his throat, then said:

"Indeed, after our discussion, the plan we devised does align with the route you envisioned."

"Fengye Territory and the Holy Mania Empire are still at war, if we directly launch an attack on Fengye Territory from the west bank of the Vimur River, the plan is to head straight for Fengye City in the west of the territory, then take the river port hub Zelolan, and subsequently conquer the entire Fengye Border Territory east of the river."

"But if we proceed this way, the Empire might swoop in and take advantage of our victory. When we heavily damage the border lord, the Empire might seize the territory on the east bank of the Vimur River in Fengye Territory..."

"So... after thorough deliberation, we’ve planned to bypass the western part of Fengye Territory and directly attack the northeast, capturing Augus City in the north of Fengye Territory."

"Augus City is the necessary passage between the Western Domain and Fengye Territory. Occupying this area blocks the Empire’s army route southward, allowing us to secure the entire Fengye Territory confidently."

Fengye Territory is located at the southwestern edge of the Holy Mania Empire, like a protruding corner.

Li Mu’s proposal is indeed feasible.

However, Sofia slightly furrowed her brow:

"The plan is solid, but Augus City doesn’t belong to Fengye Territory; it’s governed by the Western Domain. Our Holy War’s target is solely Fengye Territory, won’t this provoke a backlash from the Empire?"

After hearing the girl’s words, Li Mu chuckled:

"We’ve received intelligence. Augus City has already been captured by the Border Lord’s forces. Currently, the Border Lord... nope, the Red Maple Kingdom’s troops are advancing into the heart of the Western Domain."

"If we capture Augus City now, it falls within the scope of our Holy War."

Sofia nodded slightly:

"This approach might stir controversy after the war, but as long as we succeed, it’s indeed viable."

However, she soon furrowed her brow again:

"It’s just... Augus City is a fortress city. The city’s central area is a towering castle on the hills. If we cannot conquer it swiftly, Otto’s troops might be able to return in time."

"He summoned the Evil God once; he could summon it a second time. If that happens... the army exposed outside the city would be in grave danger."

After hearing the Half-elf Girl’s words, Li Mu’s smile remained:

"Summon the Evil God? Isn’t that even better?"

Sofia was slightly taken aback but quickly understood.

If it were other factions, they might be terrified by the appearance of the Evil God, but the elves are different...

If the Evil God can intervene, how can the Goddess, rumored to be residing in the Elf Forest, remain passive?

"If that’s the case, then there’s no issue. But we should quickly capture Augus City and distribute our forces to avoid incidents."

After pondering, Sofia said.

"Of course, since we’ve chosen to strike Augus City, we must take it by surprise. Two days... within just two days, we can preach our faith in Augus City."

Li Mu asserted confidently.

"Two days?"

Sofia was slightly stunned.

Mobilizing an army is slow; it takes nearly half a day to reach Augus City from the banks of the Vimur River.

And two days... that means capturing the city within a day.

Yet, even if the Evil God appears, causing morale to collapse among Augus City’s defenders, and the city’s nobility flees first, soldiers and citizens remaining in Augus City allegedly resisted against the Border Lord’s army utilizing the terrain for half a month...

Although the elves have an army of a hundred thousand, Augus City’s defense is decidedly Red Maple Kingdom’s elite, how can the elves capture it within a day?

Seeing the doubtful girl, Li Mu didn’t provide a direct answer.

He smiled mysteriously, looked up at the airborne airship, and said:

"Miss Sofia."

"Have you heard of ’dimensional reduction strike’?"

...

Fengye Territory North, Augus City.

This major city sits at the border between Fengye Territory and the Empire’s Western Domain, once home to over two hundred thousand people. It’s also the gateway from the Western Domain to Fengye Territory.

The city is established along a range of hills, crowned by a magnificent castle, looking over the crescent-shaped city.

That is Folzer Castle, belonging to the Folzer family, also the noble family ruling over this city, with the lord being Viscount Folzer.

On the other side of the castle lies a beautiful lake named August Lake, supposedly transliterated from Elven language meaning "beauty."

The lake sits to the city’s west, with a winding river running through the lake, stretching into the distance until joining the Vimur River to the west...

In the eyes of the Empire’s people, Augus City is a picturesque landscape.

Neat, beautiful streets, shimmering lakes, lush forests, and endless green wheat fields stretching afar...

If not for the war, this place would be a famous vacation spot in the Western Domain, with almost every notable noble family in the Empire’s west owning lakeside villas and estates.

However, everything has changed now.

The Border Lord rebelled for independence, establishing the Red Maple Kingdom and led the army northward, initiating a Holy War against the Empire. The terrified Folzer family fled with its members, abandoning the citizens.

Although elder soldiers and civilians left in Augus City banded together to resist voluntarily, they ultimately couldn’t counter the Red Maple Kingdom’s troops. After less than half a month, the city fell.

The Red Maple Kingdom army that captured the city recruited nobles who surrendered and converted, launching a bloody looting, suppression, and massacre against the city’s resisters—every heretic either slaughtered or forcibly converted.

The current city has seen its population almost halved.

Inside the city, all the former prosperity and buzz have vanished, leaving behind much desolation.

The streets have few passing citizens, and most houses on both sides have closed doors. It’s uncertain if the residents have left or are avoiding the lawless soldiers from the Red Maple Kingdom.

Despite the siege happening days ago, the air is still filled with the intense smell of blood and the acrid taste of burnt buildings... dark blood stains can still be spotted along the road.

Folzer Castle, the lookout tower.

This is the city’s highest point, not only overlooking the whole of Augus City but also serves as a watchtower for defense.

The tower is outfitted with magical telescopes, made by elves, capable of observing nearly twenty kilometers in radius.

And now, a soldier from the Red Maple Kingdom stands on the tower, on guard duty.

The Red Maple Kingdom’s army has advanced into the depths of the Western Domain, engaging with the Empire’s newly formed counter-army; strictly speaking, this place is no longer a frontline.

Thus... although keeping watch, the soldier appears significantly more relaxed.

Nonetheless, he periodically makes use of the magic telescope to scout the distance or check the sky for reconnaissance demon beasts.

Yet, as he lazily glanced towards the sky once again, he noticed a moving elliptical object rapidly heading in the direction of the city.

"What’s that?"

He furrowed his brows slightly.
