Elf Kingdom: Game of the World Tree-Chapter 1095 - 737: The Dilemma of the Working Man_2
If Belusabab truly found the origin core of the first plane, he would be as good as declared dead.
Death...
Thinking of this word, an inexplicable fear rose in Azazel’s heart.
For the Demon God who could endlessly revive in Hell after death, it had been a long time since he felt this way...
"Could it be... could it really be necessary to tell Yggdrasil the location of the origin core, and completely become a prisoner at his mercy?"
His expression carried deep conflict.
...
Abyss, Silent Annihilation Wilderness.
Boundless demons surged like tides toward the stone and dirt-formed walls, climbing along the structure, and fighting with the magnificently equipped elves atop the walls.
The golden divine arts defensive barrier, resembling a gigantic dome, protected the crooked circular walls within.
And upon closer inspection, one would find that inside the circular walls, there were ring after ring of more circular walls, like layers of dark gray defenses.
At the very center of the walls was a temporarily erected temple, housing a sacred statue of a Goddess.
Behind the statue was a constantly spinning Plane Gate, emitting a faint halo.
New elves occasionally leapt out from it, bouncing towards the battlefield.
The temple and walls were naturally built by the players.
However, the players didn’t construct layers of defenses from the outside in but advanced them layer by layer from the inside out, using earth attribute magic to extend one wall after another, expanding the territory under control.
Looking from above, one would see the expanding circles of walls were perfectly concentric.
This advancement strategy was set by Yggdrasil.
His ultimate goal wasn’t really to have the players take over the entire plane themselves, but to occupy a region in the Silent Annihilation Wilderness where his true form could descend, and thus elevate to a mighty divine power.
Once he successfully advanced, the war situation would be completely rewritten.
In the time-distorted Silent Annihilation Wilderness, the flow of time was five times that of the Segis World.
A month had passed since the players entered the Abyss (by Abyss time), and the Demon Army siege had lasted over a week.
On the outermost walls, the clamor of fierce battles rose and fell, dazzling magic bloomed everywhere, turning the entire stretch of walls into a brutal battlefield.
However, despite the demons far outnumbering the elves, the length of the wall was finite, and with the divine arts defensive barrier’s protection, the demons could not advance even half a step.
On the walls, the elves seemed inexhaustible; when one fell, a newcomer quickly filled their place, each stronger than the last...
Of course, the elves suffered heavy casualties, but the losses on the demon side were even more staggering.
However, that vast black tide’s size was evident, and for the millions-strong Demon Army besieging the walls, no matter how many demons fell, it was still a negligible number.
Above the sky, clouds churned, and lightning dazzled.
Golden radiance and dark aura occasionally spread among the clouds, and divine power arrows could sometimes be seen flashing by...
The resonant dragon roars and wild howls reverberated faintly, stirring the clouds into swirling vortices each time.
That was the battlefield of the myths.
Finally, with a cry of pain, a figure enshrouded in black mist fell from the clouds.
He clutched his severed shoulder, cast a deep glance at the sky, and fled into the distance.
As he fled, two more Abyss Myths fell behind from the clouds and also escaped into the distance...
Faint horn sounds echoed from the back of the Demon Army, signaling the vast black tide to begin a slow withdrawal.
It left behind countless armor and weapons scattered on the ground...
The elves on the walls let out a cheer, then eagerly jumped down to the ground, scrambling for the fallen demon equipment.
Not caring whether it was damaged or heavily polluted.
The clouds in the sky gradually calmed, and the lightning became more regular.
With a proud roar, a gigantic Golden Dragon broke through the clouds, landing on the ground.
And descending with the Golden Dragon was the Demigod Aurora, surrounded by sacred light.
She held a divine power longsword in her hand, with the Elf Divine Bow on her back, valiant and impressive.
It was only when returning to the ground that she returned to her original gentle demeanor.
Glancing at the Elf Chosen Ones gleefully scavenging junk outside the battlefield, Aurora no longer had her initial astonishment, evidently having gotten used to it.
However, if she were to track where those junk equipment collected by the Elf Chosen Ones ended up, perhaps she wouldn’t be so calm.
Yet, she clearly had no time for that now.
She found Druid Li Mu, who was in charge of commanding the Chosen One Army, instructed him to continue expanding the city walls during the demons’ retreat, and then headed straight to the temple at the center of the control area.
Avoiding the Chosen Ones praying incessantly to the statues, Aurora entered a private temporary side chamber.
Inside the chamber, empty and quiet, stood a silhouette in dark attire by the window, gazing at the busy Elves outside.
It was Divine Favored Zero.
Approaching Divine Favored Zero, Aurora’s expression grew solemn, becoming devout and fervent.
She slightly bowed, respectfully saluting, and said:
"Under the Divine Crown of the Goddess, the demons have retreated."
Wrapped in the mask, Eve withdrew her gaze and nodded slightly.
Unlike Saintess Alice, Aurora was truly a demigod and a devout saint, having deduced Eve’s identity from subtle clues upon first encountering Divine Favored Zero Mask.
Of course, Eve had no intention of concealing from her.
Even Death God Hela and Fairy King Fenrir knew the true identity of Divine Favored Zero; having another Aurora, who offered unwavering faith, made no difference.
As long as the players and secular believers didn’t uncover the disguise, it was not a concern.
Hmm.
Though even if the disguise gets uncovered in front of players, it didn’t seem to matter...
Simply proclaim it as the Goddess’s salvation, a traveling incarnation wandering the world.
Anyway, other True Gods of Faith had done the same often before.
"Under the Divine Crown of the Goddess... The number of demons besieging us is growing, although the Chosen Ones still resist, the power of the Abyss Myth surfacing lately is intensifying..."
"Today’s attack involved four demigod-level Abyss Myths..."
"Mars and I eliminated one of them, but the other three escaped..."
"I can feel it, the Abyss Myths newly joining the battle are getting stronger, likely resulting in a true Evil God next time."
Aurora said with a serious expression.
Watching Aurora’s grave demeanor, Eve smiled slightly:
"Aurora, just speak your thoughts freely." 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖
Aurora hesitated momentarily, then slowly nodded.
Thereafter, she said:
"Under the Divine Crown of the Goddess..."
"I have spent thousands of years in the Silent Annihilation Wilderness, believing myself to know it quite well."
"Yet amid these besieging Demon Armies, I discovered many types of demons that don’t belong to this plane, some listed in historical records as dwelling beyond the third layer of Hell in other Hell Planes."
"Even the Abyss Myths appearing seem not native to this plane..."
"I suspect, more demons have entered this world, not only Leviathan’s Demon Army but additional Demon Armies from other Hell Planes. In other words... The number of demons we face might be far greater than anticipated..."
"Based on this, the number of Abyss Myths present might also exceed expectations..."
"Under the Divine Crown of the Goddess, the reaction of the Abyss Demons to our appearance seems disproportionately large, I suspect this plane holds far more significance for them than we’ve imagined."
Upon hearing this, Eve’s expression gradually turned somber.
She knew the Silent Annihilation Wilderness was crucial to the Abyss Demons, possibly a bridgehead for Abyss invading Segis World.
Yet, Eve initially thought, even if being a bridgehead, it was likely only for Leviathan’s invasion.
However, Aurora’s query indicated the reality was not so straightforward.
"Under the Divine Crown of the Goddess... Seeing the myriad demon types here, do you think... Could the Silent Annihilation Wilderness be the primary channel for Abyss invading Segis World?"
Aurora said gravely.
