Chapter 714: Chapter 743 If You Are Willing

"Do you think I’m like what the news says, having an ambiguous relationship with my uncle?" Mabel Quinn asked.

Daniel Harris smiled faintly, "Of course I don’t believe it. The way your uncle looks at you isn’t how a man looks at a woman. Instead, it’s more like..."

"More like what?"

"More like he’s trying to find some memories from you," Daniel said. "But maybe I’m just overthinking it."

Mabel couldn’t help but admire Daniel’s insight, "Maybe you’re not overthinking it. I do resemble an old acquaintance of my uncle’s."

Daniel said, "That makes sense."

When the car stopped at the gate of the village in the city, Daniel turned to Mabel and said, "Actually, as long as you say one sentence, those groundless news reports could easily be disproven, and no one in the Quinn Family would harm you anymore."

"What sentence?" she asked, puzzled.

"Just say that if you want, you could become the young mistress of the Harris Family at any time. Then nobody would believe that news," Daniel said.

Mabel was stunned, then said awkwardly, "The news has already been suppressed, and I’ll be careful with the Quinn Family. Thank you for bringing me back. I’m getting out of the car."

With that, she almost burst out of the car quickly.

Daniel watched as her figure quickly disappeared into the night, rubbing his eyes subconsciously. As long as she said she was willing, it would make him incredibly happy.

Earlier, when carrying Alice Conley on his back, his mind was filled with memories of that night in the mountains, when he carried her down. Back then, he could see nothing, yet she lay sleeping deeply on his back.

He wished he could carry her forever, even if he was exhausted, he didn’t want to put her down.

If he could trade his eyes for her, he would give up his sight without hesitation.

Mabel walked to her rental apartment door, and as she used the key to open it, she sensed something was off. She had locked the door before leaving, which required the key to turn twice to unlock it. However, as she inserted the key, there was no clicking sound that usually came with the turns, and the door was already in an openable state.

Was the lock broken?!

Mabel shivered, barely having time to think before the door was suddenly pulled open from the inside, and a figure dashed out, crashing into her.

She staggered backward from the impact, and at that moment, something fell from the person onto the ground.

A glimpse of that object took Mabel’s breath away.

It was—a piece of gold, the longevity lock that her father had painstakingly acquired from the Quinn Family for her.

Mabel got up, ignoring the lingering pain from the collision, and chased after the person desperately. She couldn’t lose this longevity lock, which was the effort of her father’s hard work, symbolizing his presence with her!

Mabel chased all the way to the gate of the village in the city. Daniel had been about to drive away, but when he saw someone running past and Mabel chasing after, he hurriedly got out of the car and asked, "What happened?"

"That person... stole my longevity lock. It’s a gift from my dad..." Mabel said quickly, continuing to chase after the person.
