Chapter 712: Chapter 741: Have a Drink

The two of them exchanged a glance, and Alice Conley said, "How about we go for a drink after work?"

"I’m not good with alcohol," Mabel Quinn replied. She hadn’t forgotten the last time she got drunk and embarrassed herself in front of Kyle Kinston.

"Then I’ll drink more, and you drink less, just keep me company," Alice suggested.

"Okay," Mabel agreed, because she knew that at this time, what Alice probably needed most was to vent, and drinking was a way to let off steam, at least better than keeping everything bottled up inside.

After work, they found a small restaurant, and Alice ordered several bottles of beer and a bottle of baijiu.

"You’re drinking baijiu?" Mabel was startled.

"Don’t worry, I can handle my alcohol better than you," Alice said, "To be honest, I really want to get drunk today, so you drink a little less. If I really get wasted, you can take me home."

She added humorously, then opened the cap of the baijiu and poured herself a glass.

Mabel didn’t stop her. If Alice really wanted to get drunk, then so be it. Lately, Alice had been pretending everything was fine, when in fact, she had been holding back a lot inside.

They drank and ate, with Mabel mostly drinking soft drinks, and combined, she didn’t even have half a bottle of beer.

Alice drank and started shouting, "Dorian Howards, you big idiot, you know nothing, you’re a fool, you’re an idiot."

"Dorian, if I hadn’t met you back then... how great would that have been. No, no, it wouldn’t be great... if I hadn’t met you, I wouldn’t have known that in this life I could have such a handsome and wonderful boyfriend."

"I won’t forget you, and you... don’t forget me either, okay, Dorian? I don’t ask for much, just that you occasionally... occasionally think of me... I just hope you won’t completely forget about me..."

Mabel listened to Alice’s drunken words and recalled the expression on Dorian’s face and the things he said when Alice was mentioned at his villa, feeling a pang of sadness.

Is it possible that the two of them really can’t be together? What kind of irreconcilable differences are there?

"Mabel, actually... loving someone is really exhausting, isn’t it?" Alice asked, giving Mabel a silly smile.

Mabel thought of her own situation with Kyle and their issues, "Yeah, loving someone is really exhausting."

They had almost finished eating when Mabel got up to pay the bill. As she returned to the table, her phone rang. It was a call from Daniel Harris.

Mabel answered, and Daniel’s voice came through, "Mabel, where are you now? I’m outside your apartment, but it seems like you’re not home."

Mabel was taken aback; what was Daniel doing there?

"I’m out with Alice. She’s had quite a bit to drink, and I was just about to take her home," she said.

"Where are you guys? I’ll come and pick you up. It’s not safe for you as a woman to take a drunk woman home this late at night," Daniel said.

"Taking a cab should be fine, and it’s not that late yet," she replied.

"Where are you, I’ll come over!" he insisted.

Mabel pressed her lips together and gave him the address, thinking that otherwise, Daniel might spend more effort trying to find out their location.
