The car arrived at the entrance to her apartment complex. She unbuckled her seatbelt and got out of the car, only to be suddenly pulled back by a force. The next moment, she was enveloped in a warm embrace.
"Alice!" Dorian tightly held Alice Conley.
Alice was stunned for a while before she reacted. "Hey, don’t hug me like this; we’re at the entrance of the complex! People will see!" she exclaimed hastily, trying to break free from his embrace.
However, he held on tightly, making it impossible for her to escape.
She was so anxious that her face turned red. Dear God, though today was the second day of the new year and there were few people on the road, the security guards at the complex were still on duty, and people coming in and out could very well be her neighbors!
"Alice, let there be no misunderstandings between us, okay?" Dorian murmured softly, with his head buried in her shoulder.
Her struggle stopped abruptly.
"Today, when I saw Kyle, it was like looking at myself three years ago," Dorian continued to murmur, "Back then, I thought breaking up didn’t mean anything to me. I thought even if I liked a little girl like you, so what? It wouldn’t take long for me to forget you. I thought it would be easy, but it was actually very, very hard. Even after three years, I couldn’t do it."
Alice was stunned; this was the first time he had been so honest about his feelings in front of her.
His voice continued, "Or perhaps I should say, I never really wanted to forget that relationship, to forget you. It’s as if once I forget you, I would lose a part of myself. I don’t know if Kyle will regret the breakup in the future, like I did, but I don’t want misunderstandings like this between me and the person I love. If we’re truly not meant to be because our love is too shallow to tolerate each other, then I’ll accept it! But if misunderstandings alone are what separate us, then I absolutely will not accept it!"
