Elder Kinston's Exclusive Sweet Wife-Chapter 616 - 642: Slip of the Tongue
"Your mom just called me, asking if you were with me just now," Kyle Kinston said, otherwise, he wouldn’t have known that his friend had flown back to J City early this morning.
Dorian Howards rubbed his temples; he had decided last minute to return to J City, and figured his mom was probably still sulking. Otherwise, she would have called him directly instead of reaching out to Kyle.
"I’ll call my mom later," Dorian said.
"You came back to J City so early. Where are you now?" Kyle asked.
"At Alice’s grandparents’ house," Dorian replied.
"So, has Alice finished shopping with Mabel already? Did you see Mabel when you went to pick up Alice?" Kyle asked casually.
"Mabel? I’ve been with Alice the whole afternoon and haven’t seen her. Wait, was she supposed to be shopping with Alice today?" Dorian responded.
The call was quickly cut off, with Kyle being the one who hung up.
Dorian narrowed his eyes, sensing that something might be off.
Alice Conley walked over, "Finished talking with Kyle?" But how come he looked so strange?
Dorian grabbed Alice’s hand seriously, "Were you supposed to go shopping with Mabel Quinn today?"
"Huh?" Alice was stunned, her eyes wide open, "Why are you asking that all of a sudden?"
"Just answer me," Dorian urged.
Only then did Alice say, "Uh, Mabel asked me for a favor. She said she was going to a store today to make some handcrafted chocolate as a surprise for Kyle tomorrow on Valentine’s Day, so she told him she was going shopping with me!" Her expression suddenly changed, "Oh no, did Kyle just call you, and you accidentally spilled the beans? Gosh, I should’ve reminded you beforehand; how could I have forgotten!"
Alice was filled with regret.
However, hearing this, Dorian was relieved, "It’s just about making handcrafted chocolate as a surprise?"
"Of course! What did you think it was for? But now Kyle knows, so it’s not much of a surprise anymore. I’ll leave a message for Mabel on WeChat and let her know." As Alice spoke, she took out her phone and left a message on WeChat, "Sorry, Mabel, that idiot Dorian came to find me today, and then Kyle called, and he accidentally let it slip."
After sending the message, she looked up and saw Dorian looking at her with an amused expression.
"What?" she asked.
"Who are you calling an idiot?" he asked.
She felt inexplicably guilty but quickly turned the tables, "You’re peeking at my messages."
"Do I need to peek? You were typing right under my nose, did you really think I was blind?" He tapped her lightly on the head with his hand, but it was so gentle that it felt more like affection than punishment.
Alice rubbed her head, deciding not to argue further. After all, with how much her relatives adored him, if she started an argument, she’d probably have to face off with a whole house full of them.
But just as she was about to leave, someone wouldn’t let her go, "Wait!" He grabbed her, "Have you prepared any chocolate for Valentine’s Day tomorrow?"
"..." She rolled her eyes. Was he really asking so directly? If she gave him some, it was a gesture; if she didn’t, it was only right.
