Elder Kinston's Exclusive Sweet Wife-Chapter 607 - 633: Accompanying
Her face turned bright red, looking as if she was about to suffer inner injuries, "I already told you, that was just an impulsive moment!"
He wished that she had more of those impulsive moments.
"By the way, what are you doing here? Aren’t you supposed to be over in Falling City?" Alice Conley suddenly remembered the crucial point—this man wasn’t supposed to be here today at all!
"I took an early flight back. Didn’t you say before that every New Year’s Day you would visit your grandparents? I thought I’d come by to see if I could find you." Dorian Howards replied. As it turned out, he was in luck; just as his car arrived, he saw her walking out of the neighborhood.
Doesn’t this count as some sort of fate between them? No matter how much she denies it, this fate just can’t be cut off.
Alice Conley felt a bit indescribable about this. It was something she had said back when they were dating, just a casual remark during idle chat, and yet he still remembered it three years later.
"But since I rushed for the early flight, I only had an airplane meal, which I’ve pretty much digested by now. So how about joining me for a meal?" Dorian said, and before Alice could respond, he had already pulled her into the car.
Alice Conley sighed but didn’t say anything more. She obediently fastened her seatbelt and accompanied Dorian to find a restaurant.
Although many places had stopped operating on New Year’s Day, some larger restaurants were still open. Dorian eventually chose a Chinese restaurant.
When they walked in, there weren’t many people inside. Once seated, Dorian opened the menu and asked Alice, "What do you want to eat?"
"Uh, I already had lunch. You go ahead and eat, I’ll just have a drink," she replied.
So she ordered a lemon tea, while he got a set meal.
As Dorian ate his lunch, Alice Conley couldn’t help but stare blankly at the man in front of her. She never expected him to return to J City on New Year’s Day, seemingly just to see her.
To say she wasn’t moved would be a lie.
But there was no future for her and him. What should she do? Should she tell him the truth? Reveal the real reason why she broke up back then?
No, she couldn’t; maybe it’s best not to say anything and wait for everything to naturally fade away until it all comes to nothing.
She thought with a ’head-in-the-sand’ mentality.
Suddenly, he looked up at her and said, "Why have you been staring at me all day?"
"N-no way!" she denied, quickly pretending to sip her lemon water.
"I don’t mind if you say it’s because I’m good-looking, so you kept staring at me," Dorian said.
"..." Alice Conley was speechless. This guy, is his skin even thicker than hers!
As Dorian finished his meal, he suddenly said, "Do you have any plans for the afternoon?"
"Huh?" Her reaction was almost instinctual, shaking her head.
Then he said, "If you don’t have plans, how about accompanying me to Thousand Lotus Temple? You guys in J City have a habit of going there to strike the bell, right?"
"Yeah, that’s the tradition, welcoming the chime at midnight on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day," she replied. As she remembered, in her family, they only went to hear the bell strikes a few times when she was a child, and then not much after that. "If you go now, you won’t hear the bell though."
