Dungeon Raider System-Chapter 790: Hell yeah!
Most people would have grabbed anything that could at least have a slim chance of working against a demon, but upon glancing at the fountain Uriel knew he already found what he needed. It wasn't the fountain itself what he sought after, but it's content.
"Holy water, this will do." He said after buying a flask from his trait and promptly filling it up with the murky water of the fountain. As unappealing as the old stale water could seem, but for some odd reason Uriel couldn't hold himself from taking a gulp that was soon followed by chugging its entire content.
[System notice] Holy water containing the sacred wisdom of centuries has been consumed.
"At least I don't have to worry about dysentery." Uriel chuckled to himself after gleefully welcoming the system message. He then filled the flask once more and then bathed the Red thread of fate in it, as he intended in the first place.
He then rushed to Luna who by that time was already awake and mostly healed from her injuries thanks to her lycanthropy and handed her the flask.
"Uhm, no thanks." She said and attempted to return the flask she identified as dirty water with but a sniff.
"It's not for drinking, not for you anyways. It's holy water." Uriel's words left Luna puzzled for all of one second until she figured out Uriel's plan and poured some of the water in the flask on her orichalcum claws.
After her previous effort and spending much of her flux energy in healing herself, Luna was now incapable of shifting into her werewolf form, though that didn't make her any less excited about trying out the effect holy water could have on a demon.
The storm raged in the outside so much it was evident any regular human would have trouble remaining on their feet, but for hunters things were different and they rushed out to the inner cloyster with the intention to taunt the demon into showing itself.
Uriel shouted his usual challenges and snarky comments that would most always cause their enemies to become enraged and make mistakes, only this time the demon didn't seem affected and replied in kind.
"You presented yourself as an archaeologist and I wonder, if I were to present you with a used tampon, would you be able to know which period is it from?" The demon broke into an unseen laughter that seemingly came from everywhere and nowhere at the same time.
"That depends, is it your mothers'? Uriel replied in a composed manner.
"I'll admit that was a good one," the demon replied, then continued. "any luck digging out dinosaurs lately?"
"Those are paleonthologists..." Uriel clenched his fists in annoyance and channeled a slight amount of flux, then Luna tugged on his sleeve to call for his attention.
"You seem to be falling under your own strategy," Luna's words only amounted to his anger for a reason Luna swiftly understood. "it's the mind attack again, keep your cool." She uttered in perfect peace despite the rain violently hitting her on the face and drenching her clothes.
"You're right, but this is too annoying. It doesn't show its face unless you do something sinful..." Uriel growled, still trying to spot the cryptid around him.
"Then let's sin." Luna shrugged in the most evident contrast between her innocent face and wicked personality causing Uriel to fear her more than the demon for a moment.
"Dammit!" Uriel shouted, causing a lightning bolt to fall on the old monastery roof.
"Crap!" Luna said with no apparent effect.
"That's not going to cut it." Uriel glared at Luna.
"But my sister said cursing is bad." Luna stared at the ground for one second.
"Isn't that the fucking point of this?" Uriel snarled, unaware that his casual swear word had allowed the cryptid to sneak behind him and slash at him from the back.
"Uhm... I think now I know why it is so important for demons to keep their names a secret. Once you know their names you can force them to show up." Luna fumbled to herself.
In the meantime Uriel had continued swearing in an attempt to catch the cryptid in the brief windows of opportunity it gave when it showed up to retaliate, but each time he missed his mark by a hair's breadth.
"Come on, I'm covered in wounds now, can't you at least say one swear word? Just a tiny one like 'hell'." Uriel complained, a pool of his own blood mixed with rain by his feet after his many failed attempts.
"It's useless, she's just a scared bitch." The demon cackled a short lived laughter that died down once Luna countered. freёwebnoѵel.com
"You motherfucker, come here and I'll show you who's the bitch!" Luna shouted leaving both Uriel and the demon in utter disbelief, though the demon quickly snapped out of it and activated its ability to partially materialize its body to strike Luna from behind expecting a result similar to the ones obtained every time with Uriel, but with Luna things were different.
Instead of attacking the demon's head or body, Luna swiftly waved her orichalcum blade to cut the demon's arm with the same ease a scissor would tear through paper. The most impressive thing about that wasn't that it worked, but the absolute confidence Luna had that it would work.
"It's just as I thought," Luna said as she slashed at the rain to clear the orichalcum claws from the demon blood. "It's not that you have been missing the target, but rather only the part will become in contact with you has become physical. Also, holy water works."
"I noticed," Uriel laughed then mocked the demon even further. "guess we know who's the bitch now."
"You think you have me where you wanted, but nothing will change the fact that I can regenerate as many times as I want and I'll never materialize my body." The demon laughed.
"This also confirms my other theory, now we know its weak spot is in its body it's safe to assume it will be in its chest." Luna cackled.
"And how exactly are we going to get this thing to show its ugly face? huh!?" Uriel snarled, but Luna had no time to answer the question as at that precise moment a barrage of lightning bolts hit the monastery roof. Had it not been for the lightning rod built in its top the old building would have caught fire as it was mostly realized in stone, but there were also plenty of flammable materials such as the window frames, doors and the interior.
Luna directed a puzzled look towards Uriel as she did not understand what just happened, then Uriel shrugged. "Don't look at me, that wasn't me."
"Uhm... Nika." Luna swiftly leapt to the second floor, an easy feat for her despite being an ascended due to her outstanding agility and opened the door only to find out Nika in the middle of a chain of swear words mixing Spanish and Eglish.
"This fucking fuckers!" She shouted not knowing that her recent actions had granted the cryptid the ability to partially materialize and attack her when she least expected.
Despite Luna's best effort, the demonic creature materialized its head and bit off a broad chunk of meat from Nika's shoulder causing her to shriek and curse even more. Far from done, the cryptid also materialized an arm and swung it with enough force to sever Nika's head, but the huntress had already merged with Uriel's shadows and found safety inside his trait.
This, however, didn't mean the cryptid was forced to retreat immediately and it took the chance to swipe at Alfaro's face snapping his neck like a twig. The man fell lifeless on the ground and by the time Luna reached the demon, it had already disappeared into another plane of existence.
"The fuck..." Uriel blurted out when he saw the pool of blood where Nika sat not ten seconds ago, his curse words rapidly receiving the appropriate response by the demon who materialized its leg this time to kick Uriel off the balcony onto the inner cloister.
He was thrown off, but this time he was expecting it and managed to jab the Red thread of fate into the prickly limb and when the demon vanished, so did the blade, but the same couldn't be said about the hilt that remained in his hand.
The voracious blade had somehow jumped along into the other dimension, one that no matter how distant or far away from human knowledge remained affected by the crimson dagger's ability which fed Uriel with an exquisite amount of flux energy and stamina.
His eyes brimmed with power as the power saving mode of his system app was cancelled and he even regained his heavenly rank in a matter of seconds, but the energy transfer continued even further.
It was pleasurable at first, but the sudden energy input was more than Uriel could take and he activated Dash, summoned his jaguar spirit once more and even started firing his magnum revolver at the ceiling while putting as much energy as he could in order to discharge the vast amount of energy until he had no choice but to swear.
"Hell, yeah!." He said, his voice reverberating in the distance as it too was filled with flux energy.
