After being confronted by the Dungeon Raiders and thoroughly interrogated by the Dungeon Raiders, the meteorologist Alfaro remained mostly inside his room for the rest of the week. After all, despite him having limited resources for his investigation, there were many tasks he could still perform. People who saw him gazing at the sky day and night taking notes on an old notepad thought he was just lazy or unemployed, but nothing could differ more from the truth.

Sure, his work wasn't physically intensive or mentally draining as most occupations, but for him to be able to understand the physics behind weather shifts required a great deal of sacrifice during his college years.

The same clouds that most people would qualify according to how pretty they looked could be studied by Alfaro in depth until he found their category, origin and possible consequences in the weather.

"This is interesting, the cumulus is swiftly evolving into a cumulus congestus...," He jotted on his notepad while looking out the window like usual. Writing down his notes took him but a few seconds and when he looked out the window again he dropped his pencil and notepad alike with a shocked expression. "that's a towering cumulus! I need to warn the staff!"

He went out his room for the first time in a week, then ran back in to pick up his notepad. Crossing his fingers not to stumble upon any more rowdy hunters, especially the Dungeon Raiders, he made it to the receptionist desk with such poor timing he witnessed Uriel killing the woman.

For a regular man like him, Uriel was the epitome of danger. Most hunters could put enough pressure on regular humans to make them faint by just letting out a portion of their flux energy, no matter their rank. However, of all the hunters Alfaro had met Uriel had to be the scariest of them all.

He seemed like a nice young man and a very educated one, which made for a pleasing interaction between them at first. But when he dropped the nice act and looked him with dead cold eyes half covered by the Fedora's wing it brought nightmares to the poor Alfaro.

"I didn't see anything..." He stuttered after Luna ran past him and disposed of the possessed guest. With Uriel standing next to the receptionist corpse, Nika by the side of the desk and Luna running past her, Alfaro was now surrounded by people who could kill him with but a mean glare.

The three hunters looked him for a few seconds as though they were waiting for something and when that didn't come to happen they wheezed a sigh of relief.

"You're not getting possessed it seems." Luna said.

"What are you doing here? It's dangerous." Uriel didn't give enough time for the man to explain himself.

"Please, don't hurt me." Alfaro begged as he dropped on his knees.

"No one's going to hurt you, those guys were possessed by a cryptid," Nika said as she lifted the man up with a single hand. Being picked like a stray puppy by a woman who had to be half his weight felt humiliating and exhilarating at the same time, causing him to linger on the sight of her bosom for a second too long. "Okay, maybe I will hurt you after all."

"Sorry, It's just...," Alfaro shook his head to gather his thoughts and continued. "we need to evacuate this monastery, the weather... it's acting up."

"Do you think it could be related to the cryptid we're facing?" Uriel promptly asked the expert.

"It's more than likely. We already determined it is a demon and they are known for causing bad omens, withering crops and harsh weather." Luna nodded.

"Demons causing harsh weather?" Alfaro asked with curiosity, though Uriel and Luna had already left to chase after the cryptid and there was only Nika to explain.

"They do that sort of thing, you know." She shrugged.

"I have been studying weather here because of the many oddities that have been reported. I ran the flux detector on every occasion and I'm fairly certain that this weather isn't caused by a cryptid."

"Not directly, the way I understand it is that the cryptid isn't manipulating the weather itself, but rather the conditions that cause it." Nika parroted the words Uriel and Luna had mentioned before causing Alfaro's face to lit up brightly.

"Miss Nika, is it? I would love to interview if at all possible." He said as he pulled out a high end camera and Nika agreed without so much as blinking.

Meanwhile at the basement, Uriel had already arrived at the place where he thought the demon was located. He once more thought he caught a glimpse of it, but as soon as he turned to see it there was nothing to be seen anymore.

"This bastard is playing games again, show yourself," Uriel grunted and received a gnarly wound on the back despite the fact he had his underarmor on. "Dammit! This thing can cut through orichalcum it seems." Before he even finished speaking he received another slash, only this time it was on the back of his knee.

"Stop cursing, swearing and calling it out this instant. Asking a demon to show themselves is a big no, the same goes with any profanity." Luna informed.

"See? That's the kind of information you need to share before a fight," Uriel glared at the tiny huntress whose trait illuminated the entire basement. "you were right behind me, did you see something?"

"No, I don't think we will be able to see it or spot its energy signature in these conditions, uhm... maybe without a light, but that would also be dangerous." Luna pondered while she applied a bandage on Uriel's leg.

"Shouldn't it be more difficult to see it in the dark?" Uriel asked confounded.

"Demons aren't meant to be a part of this world, who knows if they even have a physical form."

"That felt pretty much physical." Uriel rebuked.

"I don't know how to answer to that, maybe they can hop in and out of existence or perhaps they can partially become physical or..." Luna carried on with her usual ramblings making Uriel inwardly curse. With Luna, it was always too little information or too much with no middle ground.

"I have an idea, remember that time with the black dog? Let's go with that," Uriel said, then placed both hands in front of him defensively when Luna grabbed a rope from who knows where. "that's not needed, I'm fully willing to do it."

"Too bad..." She muttered before climbing up the duct that led to the monastery kitchen leaving Uriel alone. He still had his gas lantern, but once he turned it off he was also in complete darkness.

"What's the matter? You don't like an easy meal!?" Uriel shouted as he swung the Red thread of fate around him whenever he thought he heard something. In that environment, Uriel's mind quickly derailed from the task as an ominous whisper began setting in the background. It was a feeling similar to the chamber of echoes, though much weaker.

Uriel pondered for a few seconds about whether or not he should channel his precious flux to protect himself from the noise and eventually decided it was worth it even though it didn't cause him any pain. This turned out to be the right decision as even with the hefty expenditure of flux, the moment the whispers ceased in his mind he was able to fully see the cryptid for the first time.

It was a towering shadow creature with a hunched back and glistening yellow eyes that somehow emitted no light. Slender in nature with elongated limbs and thorny spikes around the articulations, the cryptid was as unsightly as Uriel would have expected a demon to look.

"There you are!" Uriel activated Dash and lunged at the cryptid, though the cryptid was now prepared for the sudden strike and parried it carelessly with a clawed hand.

"This won't do..." The cryptid bellowed while holding the thin edge of the crimson dagger. It was sharp enough to cut through most materials with ease, yet not even the orichalcum blade was sharp enough to pierce its skin.

"It's fine, really," Uriel laughed maniacally as he kept pressing on the dagger, each second with more power than the last. At first the demon was baffled, but then became shocked when it noticed Uriel wasn't just growing stronger, he was getting weaker. "any kind of contact, even picking it up by the blade is enough to activate my weapon's ability."

"Foul thing your knife is, let's see how you fare without it," The demon mimicked Uriel's laughter and briefly disappeared along with the weapon. "I like this trinket, In exchange for this I shall deliver you a swift death." The cryptid laughed some more, then continued laughing when Uriel darted forward with a bare hand and a slashing motion, but when the dagger reappeared on Uriel's hand and managed to pierce through its thick skin, the demon laughed no more.

Now, it was angry.
