Thanks to her shadow blink, Nika was able to catch up to Alice in a matter of minutes, though by then she was already entering the town. Before Nika could so much as utter a single word, Alice was already engaging into battle against the bandits who were still busy terrorizing the townsmen.

"Thanks for taking the trash out," Nika chuckled, but then became serious. "now come with me and no one will get hurt." fгeewёbnoѵel_cσm

"You are right, they were trash, but so are you!" Alice shouted and lunged towards Nika and made a slashing movement with an empty fist, though it was finished with a longsword in her hand. The jet black blade took Nika by surprise, but she managed to activate her shadow armor right in time. "How is this possible?

No armor can block my sword!" Alice spouted in a manly voice, making it evident another sentient being was controlling her movements.

But for Nika things were different. The contact between sword and armor lasted an instant, but somehow she knew the sword was made of the same material as her armor, shadows.

"If this is enough to surprise you, then you're in for a treat." Nika scoffed and took the offensive mimicking the movement Alice had just performed. Alice prepared herself to block summoning the black luster armor and raised her arms, but Nika's weapon of choice was not a sword but a shadow tendril.

She didn't know how to harden the shadows enough to create a sharp object, but she was accustomed to manipulating objects and teasing Uriel with her tendrils. Enough at least to allow her to use them in combat.

However, when she thought of this strategy she pictured the shadows acting like a whip that would have knocked back her opponent and cause some serious damage. What happened instead was the shadow tendril wrapped softly onto the armor like a wet rope.

"A woman can never be a match for a proper knight." With the full armor on, Alice's face could not be seen anymore and the deep voice made it impossible to tell if she was already there. At least until Nika followed with the second step of her 'very clever' strategy.

"Oh, no, you didn't! That kind of old thinking will get you nowhere." Nika snarled as she pulled her tendril with both her physical strength and her power over the shadows hoping to bring Alice close to her and knock her out with a kick.

Unfortunately to Nika, the same thing that had happened to Uriel on several occasions occurred to her and all she brought back with her tendrils were the pieces of armor from elbow to hand.

"Not bad, maybe you are a worthy opponent after all." The black knight nodded and summoned back his armor, leaving behind Alice's arm in the process.

Not wanting to miss an opportunity, Nika blinked in the shadows and went behind Alice and kicked her as hard as she could while briefly summoning her armor in the offensive leg causing the head to fall limp on the front and then compose itself.

"Not enough, your armor is as soft as your womanly body is. Perhaps after I teach you a lesson I'll have my way with you."

"What a creep, I thought knights were supposed to be more gentlemanly."

"Be a good woman and stay silent."The black knight spun on its heels and bashed at Nika with a force that didn't match the already heavy weight and she was thrown away towards a house, but before she made contact with the building she blinked again and attacked from behind the knight.

She unleashed a barrage of kicks and hook fists, each of her attacks carrying enough power to knock out cold an adult bear, but the armor didn't so much as bend which is why the knight didn't so much as attempt to dodge.

Instead, it calculated Nika's pattern of attack and predicted what her next move would be managing to grab her neck the moment she emerged from the shadow.

"That's better." The knight mocked when Nika attempted to speak but became unable to.

She used both hands to attempt to break the steely grasp of the unholy black armor while kicking it at the same time in hopes of gaining enough leverage to set herself free, but nothing worked. The knight was not only more powerful, it was invincible.

Unable to breathe, Nika became red in the face and started feeling dizzy as her oxygen level dropped. The more she struggled, the more oxygen she consumed and the faster she would tire. Her kicks became feeble, but it was all she was capable of doing now that shadow blink wasn't working for some reason.

It was right after losing all hope that Nika became enraged. Not only because of the black knight misogynistic behavior, but also because what she saw from the corner of her eye.

Uriel and Luna had both come to the rescue, but the first walked at an annoyingly slow speed while Luna literally skipped on her way. This caused Nika's anger to turn into fury and decided she would deal with the cryptid on her own.

She charged as much flux as she could, enveloping herself in a faint jet black coat of flux energy, then activated her full shadow armor. It was flux intensive, but she figured since Uriel was in no rush to help her, then it was only fair that she helped herself to his flux energy.

It was Uriel's first time watching Nika in her full armor. Usually, it was little more than a plate or two of a material similar to obsidian. It was black, but somehow it was possible to see through it. Its form was undefined and would shift like black smoke coming out of a campfire.

Her full armor was different. It seemed solid and was impossible to see through it. It had spiked ornaments that suited her personality quite well and despite it looking like a full metal armor, it did little to cover her shapely figure. She looked beautiful, gorgeous even, but it soon became clear that her changes were not for mere aesthetics.

Her strength multiplied and she was able to overpower the previously impossible enemy with an ease not even she expected. Without so much as taking a second to recover or gather a full breath worth of air she stroke the now baffled knight with a high kick that twisted its neck and sent it flying in the air about twenty meters distance.

Uriel was able to see the full scene and be shocked for an one second until he dropped on the ground due to being deprived of flux energy. Then, he heard Luna's high pitch shout.

"No! You are killing her!"

"I'm not, she's safe inside the armor. I can't even damage that thing." Said Nika after her shadow armor subsided due to her not having enough flux to keep it up.

"Bad Nika!" Luna pointed at Alice's arm on the ground and only then Nika realized her mistake. Despite the armor being a different entity, while they were merged the only one who would suffer any damage was Alice.

"How do I defeat that thing then?" Nika grumbled.

"You can't... we need to retreat." Luna shook her head, but the armor was already standing up and ready for combat.

"Pathetic, none of you can face me. How far will I need to go this time to find a worthy enemy?" The black knight scoffed.

"I'll be right there, baby. Just give me a second." Nika said with a jagged breathing while keeping herself standing upright out of sheer willpower.

"You prayed for power, but you have enough of that. You could have killed me, but you stopped. What you lack is the determination to do what is needed no matter the cost. I commend you for your effort and although you are a woman, you put a good fight nonetheless. For that, I will give you the opportunity to say your last words." The black armor spoke solemnly.

"Behind you!" Said a wide eyed Nika.

"Ah, the moment a life is extinguished is so precious and yet you decided to waste it like that. That strategy is older than my time I'm afraid. You can't trick me by..." The armor said with disdain, only to be cut short when an orichalcum dagger was jabbed behind it's armpit on the right side.

"This won't kill Alice, but will let me recover some." Uriel gasped before falling on his back holding a wide smile.

Despite being unable to feel or show pain, the armor could sense its flux energy decaying at a rapid speed. Because of that, it made the decision to abandon its current host and use Uriel instead, but for some reason he was unable to. The armor craned up his head looking for Luna, but she was long gone at a distance that made her out of its reach.

"I need a new host," The black armor said as it vanished and one of the bandits stood upright as though a puppet whose strings had been pulled. "this will do, for now."
