Dungeon Overlord: Monster Girl Harem!-Chapter 44: The Garbage Group
After a hearty meal, the group planned with the innkeeper.
Thankfully, she would hold the rooms because they already paid and because of her deal with Leonhardt. She was more than happy to keep him there for longer.
"There are people already here?" Asuka exclaimed as she rushed forward with an excited expression, her geta tapping against the ground with each step.
Clack! Clack! Clack!
"Asuka, wait up. You're going too fast."
Erina exhaled, her body stumbling when she tried to catch up with the excited dragonoid.
Meanwhile, Sylvia used her wooden staff to remain stable. "It's too hot…" The elf complained, her blue ahoge bouncing with each step.
"Do you need any help, Sylvie?" Leon offered to help her.
She carried a huge leather backpack, but the moment he approached, she suddenly pulled away, with bright red cheeks and a stuttering voice.
"A-Ah… I'm alright… t-thank you!"
His lips curled into a smirk after seeing her response.
'How lovely.'
The next moment, he leaned beside her ear, and whispered in a deep and grainy voice.
"Did you enjoy what you saw last night?"
"Hya?!"
Sylvie's eyes widened, darting to his face, then his crotch and snapping back to the caravan, her hands holding the backpack trembling as she nearly tripped.
"Kya!"
"Careful now~ haha."
He grabbed hold of her hand and helped steady her, stroking her soft, milky fingers.
However, even when she stood upright, she continued to grasp his hand and didn't seem to notice as they approached the carriage.
Her blue eyes shifted towards him and peeked at him occasionally.
Leon ignored her actions and just smiled, allowing it.
'I shouldn't tease her so badly, she might die like a rabbit.' He thought inwardly as he noticed Asuka and Erina arguing with an old merchant near the carriages.
In the background, the various servants and workers packed the carts and carriages full of items and chests.
Meanwhile, Asuka stepped up and pointed at the old merchant with grey hair.
"Listen, old man, we are not guards or here to serve you. We paid just like you did!"
"Hah! How can I know that, you might be lying to get some free coin, and being lazy."
The atmosphere became increasingly worse, with Erina stepping between the two and trying to keep the situation from devolving into violence.
"Asuka, stop it! There's no need to be so aggressive. Also, sir… we have paid for this travel. You can ask the stable owner." She tried.
Asuka's tail lashed out angrily whilst the merchant was turning red with anger.
Suddenly, Leonhardt arrived while the husband of Mabel appeared with a slightly apologetic look on his face.
"Here, there's the owner, let's ask him!" The merchant grunted and pointed.

Mabel's husband turned to Leonhardt and nodded before approaching the merchant. " What seems to be the matter, Adrian?"
"I am not paying for them if they haven't earned their wages." The merchant retorted.
Leon walked closer, Sylvie's hand grasping his tightly, as Erina pulled Asuka away, to give the two some space.
"Ah, well." Mabel's husband brushed his temple before looking apologetic to the merchant. "It's not that I doubt you, Adrian, but these folks paid me directly last night, they aren't joining as guards or mercenaries."
"What? What do you mean?" Adrian sputtered in disbelief.
As Adrian spoke, a group of scruffy men in leather armour appeared near the stable. Their hair was fuzzy and unwashed, and their eyes were dull but alert.
They were all armed and carried large packs on their backs.
Their weapons consisted mainly of longbows and shortswords. They all eyed the people speaking to each other curiously.
"What's going on?" Their leader, a man with fuzzy black hair and dark drown eyes, called out before Adrian's eyes widened, as he hit his palm.
"Oh, I see." He laughed to himself. "So these are the freeloaders trying to avoid paying a fair share and making us work."
Leon sighed, while Sylvie just remained quiet, watching the situation with a faint smile.
"Sorry, Andy, it appears that I was wrong."
"Apologise to the young ladies, Adrian. Not me."
Adrian turned towards Asuka and Erina, bowing with an apologetic expression.
"I apologise for my assumption. Please forgive my words."
"It's okay…" Asuka replied with a huff and looked away, while Erina nodded at the apology.
"I understand, it's a simple mistake to make, may the goddess bless you."
"Ah, thank you, priestess."
Adrian bowed to their backs several times, before he suddenly shouted at the group of unwashed males, clearly the guards and a set of adventurers.
'I don't like the way they gazed at Asuka and the others…'
The emotions building in his chest undulated and caused him to bite down, a sense of anger and dislike towards the males who came closer.
"Wow, I didn't think such attractive women would be joining us on this lonely journey, hey, how much for a night?"
Though a common comment among adventurers during long journeys to earn extra money, many female mercenaries, merchants, and adventurers would earn coin by using their bodies.
It was a common occurrence, however…
"How dare you." Erina wore the garbs of a priestess, even more her emblem was that of a trainee saintess.
"Come on, we all know the church is destitute and needs money. How many of the priestesses are really chaste?" a second member of their group added with a satisfied sneer.
"Ah well, forget about that lizard, nobody wants to fuck an animal, look at her ugly scales…" The archer of the group commented, pulling out his weapon and gesturing towards her face. "…probably dry as a bone." His eyes roamed over her hips and waist before grimacing and looking at Sylvie.
"Shame her ass is so big… It should have been given to the elf."
He then stared at Sylvie, who turned pale immediately when Leon stepped forward, blocking his view. And spoke up with a tone as cold as ice.
"If you don't shut up, I will kill you where you stand," He stated with a low, menacing tone, eyes full of anger.
Asuka's eyes widened the moment she felt his hand grasp her shoulder, stroking her with a subtle movement. " Don't worry; you're fine the way you are," Leon whispered, standing before the group of males.
"What? Got a problem with us?"
The leader with black hair sauntered forward, while the others stood behind him. But Leonhardt's eyes were empty, deep red orbs that looked at the humans like dirt on the ground.
"Heh, he's angry because his little nomadic lizard slave was insulted, filthy lizards aren't even worthy of being prostitutes, they smell bad, and have loose cunts."
The laughter died out when suddenly the merchant returned with a red face.
Leonhardt killed the mercenaries several times over in his mind.
He didn't understand at first what happened, the strange burning in his chest, his hand shaking uncontrollably, as he felt the need to strike out.
However, he now understood that Leonhardt was angry, jealous, and protective of Asuka without Ifrit telling him or using the knowledge from the dungeon system.
Though Adrian took them away, the argument and rage didn't fade. Asuka and Erina stood close to Leonhardt while gazing at the backs of the men.
'I will kill them the first chance I get.'
Leon's eyes shone red as his lips distorted into a twisted smile, much like when he took the lives of humans in his dungeon.
A cruel, yet mysteriously beautiful smile.
