Dumped A Scumbag At The Altar For A One Night Stand With A Billionaire-Chapter 86: A Reminder
Celine’s heart was pounding, no matter how hard she tried to curb it, the nerves rushed down her spine and she closed her eyes to take in a deep breath. She stood at the door of Tristan’s office for a while before finally knocking. A deep voice came a second after,
"Come in."
Celine schooled her expression, keeping indifference in her eyes where her true emotions weren’t revealed at all then she pushed open the door and strode into the office.
"Mr Grayson." She nodded in greeting, standing right in front of his desk.
She felt his deep hazel eyes stare at her in scrutiny once more, his gaze travelled the length of her height and she was doing everything she could not to melt under his stare, but she could not avert her eyes, for if she did, it would confirm that she was feeling awkward and had something to hide, that would give away the act she planned to pull of pretending to not remember him.
Celine figured it was best to act like they were strangers who had never met before, after all, that was the agreement, she would just make it seem like she had never met him before, and that wouldn’t be a problem for her as someone who had played so many acting roles before, she could play the game of being clueless without being detected at all.
She saw him shoot a glance at his assistant who was still inside the office, the latter didn’t seem to understand the meaning of that dismissive glance instantly at first but he immediately did when that gaze became a harsh glare, he quickly left the office spouting a random excuse.
"Right, I seem to have forgotten, I have some documents to submit, excuse me."
Kaleb pulled the door shut and Tristan’s gaze returned to her for a moment before he picked up some papers on his table and seemingly began working on them leaving her standing there. Celine was bewildered, he didn’t even have the basic courtesy of telling her to sit.
She wanted to speak up after a while but he beat her to it. "So you finally figured out my identity, is that why you’re here?" He said coolly.
Celine frowned, "Excuse me?" She asked feigning cluelessness but the fact was that she understood what he said. She bore down the disappointment she was feeling not letting it show on her face.
So this was why he thought she was here...to come after him for his identity?
He chuckled darkly, "Don’t play innocent now, you found out that the man you slept with five years ago is a tycoon, figured out a plan on how to get closer to him. The investment is just a facade, what you’re aiming for is more, you come in front of me and you’re probably assuming I can’t resist you, and all for what, you want the Blakewood family fortune? Women are all the same." His derisive tone didn’t go unnoticed.
Was this truly how low he thought of her, that she wanted his fortune? How insufferably arrogant of him to look down on her so much!
She smiled coldly and his eyes were glued onto her unblinkingly, "I’m sorry Mr Grayson, I don’t know what misunderstanding you’re having about me but I don’t believe we’ve met before. But I think I have an impression of the kind of man you are right now with the way you look down on women." She shot out a retort, keeping her expression cool and controlled, there wasn’t a slightest ripple in those blue eyes causing him to frown subtly.
"If there’s nothing important, I’ll take my leave now, I believe I still have a lot of work to do."
"Are you saying we haven’t met before?" His question made her pause just as she had turned to leave, she turned back to him steadily holding his gaze.
"I don’t believe we have."
He got up from his seat, a dark smile curved his lips but it didn’t reach his eyes, however a dimple on his left cheek showed, the same kind of dimple that adorned her daughter’s adorable little face whenever she smiled.
He stalked slowly towards her saying, "But I seem to recall we have in fact met before, it’s quite surprising you don’t remember."
He was coming closer with each step and Celine swallowed down the urge to take a step backwards and avoid him nearing her but that would only expose her facade of not knowing him.
"In fact, it was quite a memorable meeting." He said.
Memorable? She thought.
Did he say that their meeting was memorable? Then could it be that he also hadn’t forgotten about that night?
As he came too close, her feet had instinctively moved on their own accord but to her utter shock and surprise his arms came around her waist and before she could take a breath he pulled her against him.
She gasped softly taking in his familiar, deep scent. Her eyes immediately reflected the shock she felt in this moment.
Whenever she was in a scene, she never broke out of character unless the director called cut, this time a sharp rush of anxiety and gentle flutters in her heart suddenly made her break out of the indifferent cluelessness in her gaze. She was supposed to make him believe that she could no longer remember him, but...
His gaze danced over her face until it landed on her lips, she thought she saw a searing heat in his eyes for a moment.
"You really don’t remember?" His question was soft now, a low murmur that pulled her gaze to his lips. Unconsciously she swallowed hardly then instantly regained her awareness and her gaze flashed up to meet his eyes again.
"We’ve never met, there’s nothing to remember." She uttered, her voice almost betraying how nervous she was feeling in the moment. She was surrounded by every rigid air that was him. His arms like a sturdy bind around her waist making her feel incredibly small compared to him.
"Let me remind you then." He said those words without giving her a moment to react, before she could utter a word the air around her moved and his lips suddenly closed over her own. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂
