Drift Of The Multiverse: [Marvel] [Resident Evil] [DC] [Bleach] [DB]-Chapter 760 - 761: Only Late but Never Absent
Unfortunately, this idea would take too long. Even with plenty of methods at hand, reaching the realm of gods for these people... even if they all advanced to demigods, it wouldn’t be something achievable in a short time.
So, the only option was to improve their strength as much as possible and, at the same time, handle the trivial matters at hand.
Because this trip was into the territory of other Main Gods, Ethan wasn’t sure what situations might arise. If it took too long and delayed the development of his own main world, it wouldn’t be worth it.
Therefore, first and foremost, his Divine Kingdom had to complete its basic transformation before he could leave.
During the period of the Divine Kingdom’s transformation, he dedicated a portion of his attention each day to observing that world, learning more rules from its changes and formation.
It wasn’t that he couldn’t contact his Divine Kingdom while in another Main God’s territory, but maintaining this state of divided attention to comprehend rules would limit his ability to exert his full strength.
Dealing with ordinary enemies was naturally not a problem. For Ethan, ordinary people could be crushed with a wave of his hand, so he wouldn’t be affected at all.
But when facing a Main God, he wasn’t arrogant enough to think he could casually wipe one out.
Moreover, by observing the birth of his Divine Kingdom daily, his strength was also steadily increasing. He was certain that his power would experience a significant surge during the transformation, after which the rate of growth would slow, giving him a buffer period to consolidate it.
So, there was no need for him to rush over immediately. He could wait until his strength increased further before setting off.
In addition, the news he brought back this time had reignited the crew’s fighting spirit. He definitely needed to give the crew proper guidance and couldn’t just leave them to train on their own.
Not to mention others, but he certainly couldn’t neglect Selene, right? Selene was in good condition now. Her strength was solid, and her lifespan long enough, but there was still a significant difference between her physical constitution and life level compared to Ethan.
Even if it was just for the sake of a harmonious and happy life together in the future, Ethan had to make sure Selene’s strength progressed steadily.
"So... everyone here is busy training?"
Time passed particularly quickly when everyone was focused. During this time, the Venus also took the opportunity to explore several nearby planets.
Compared to the first planet they landed on, although these planets were also located in the habitable zone of a star system, due to various reasons, no life had emerged on them, let alone civilization. So, Betty and Nebula just made a quick survey, collected some solid water as needed, and left.
By this point, there was no longer any need to explore this star system. The Venus had now reached the opposite side relative to where they had entered the system. After entering, identifying the habitable zone, and traveling along it around the star, they had essentially completed a half-circle.
Since all the planets in the habitable zone orbited the star in the same direction, there was no need to complete the other half of the circle. They had already observed everything.
Now, they could leave the star system and head to the next one. Thanks to the improved observation system on the Venus, they had calculated that the next star system was much closer than the previous one.
Coupled with the Venus’s faster cruising speed compared to the Moon Goddess, they would arrive at the next star system in no time.
"Before you know it, you’ll be graduating soon too."
Hogwarts was on holiday again, and Hermione came to visit once more. Her reason this time was perfectly valid. "I heard you moved? Got a bigger and better spaceship? I came to see what the new ship is like."
"Yeah. When school starts again, it’ll be my last year."
Before he realized it, Hermione had grown up. Ethan looked at himself and couldn’t help but try to calculate his actual age.
But with his time spent in this world, a few years in another, plus the fragmented time scattered across the main universe, he really couldn’t count how old he was anymore.
As they were talking, Rin and Illya, who had been exploring, also came to the bridge.
The design of the Venus was relatively traditional, with a unified hull and a slightly elevated structure in the mid-to-rear section. The bridge was located here, giving the best view across the entire ship.
Overall, the structural layout resembled that of surface ships on Earth. In fact, the Venus could indeed land on the water after entering a planet’s atmosphere.
"It’s still clearer from here."
Everyone was tired of looking at the cosmic starry sky, but standing here, where the front half of the ship was visible, the view from this angle was still impressive.
For the young girls who had lived at Hogwarts for years, it still held a certain charm.
Hermione was now a young woman, and Rin Tohsaka had grown again, letting go of her years-long twin-tailed hairstyle and allowing her black hair to fall naturally behind her. It was unclear if she had learned this from her teacher.
As for Illya, she still didn’t seem to have changed. She didn’t use magic to alter her appearance at Hogwarts either. The official explanation was that something had gone wrong during a potion experiment, and for some unknown reason, her growth had stopped.
Since this explanation came from Dumbledore and Snape, no one questioned it.
"Where’s Leah?"
Another one who had grown into a young woman was Ethan’s disciple, Leah. Over the years, she had been a very easy student to manage. Most of the time, she studied at Hogwarts, only coming to Ethan during holidays to ask about the questions she had accumulated throughout the year. Then she would learn some advanced magic knowledge from him, not found in that world.
Ethan didn’t need to worry about anything else. This disciple always knew what she needed to do.
He even noticed that for most of the questions Leah had gathered, she already had the answers. She only asked him to cross-reference her conclusions.
Her talent was exceptional. Without Ethan even realizing it, Leah had already grown up. His current headache wasn’t about how to teach her, but what else he could teach her.
If Leah had any shortcomings now, it was that she hadn’t experienced real danger. Perhaps she should be sent out for actual combat training?
There was no rush. She would graduate in another year. Ethan could wait until then to arrange it.
While he was thinking, Rin, who had been standing by the window, suddenly looked into the distance with a puzzled expression. Just as she was wondering if she was seeing things, Luna’s voice suddenly echoed across the bridge.
"Alert! Alert! High energy reaction detected. The ship is about to be impacted."
The rapidly flashing alert and the pulsing red lights made everyone freeze for a moment. However, Ethan, as an experienced captain who had been through countless battles, gave his orders the instant the alarm sounded.
"Activate defense systems. Prepare for impact." Then, pointing at the girls who didn’t yet understand what was going on, he said, "Grab onto something and brace yourselves."
There wasn’t enough time to tell them to find seats or anything. At a moment like this, grabbing whatever was within reach was the most reliable option.
Hermione, for example, clung to Ethan’s arm with such force it seemed like she was trying to tear it off. As everyone braced for impact, a massive blue and white energy sphere came into view and slammed directly into the Venus... or more precisely, into the ship’s energy barrier.
The blinding flash of energy made everyone squint instinctively. Their vision was affected, but the ship’s AI, Luna, was unaffected and immediately provided a detailed report after the impact.
"Energy attack encountered. No actual damage to the ship. Energy shield damaged. Energy defense layer integrity: 99.99%. Energy loss: 0.01%... Replenishment complete. Energy defense layer integrity: 100%."
"Calculating attack trajectory... Target locked."
A series of holographic images appeared in front of Ethan. Alongside various data and a projection of the ship, it displayed a magnified image of what lay directly ahead and marked the "enemy" that had launched the attack.
"What is it? Is it an Imperial battleship?"
The girls present all had a general understanding. The Empire Betty came from was a massive interstellar civilization, and from what she had revealed, it wasn’t exactly peaceful or benevolent. It wouldn’t be surprising for such a force to fire on unfamiliar ships.
"It’s not an Imperial battleship."
Everyone focused their attention on the holographic projection. Luna, being considerate, displayed the image directly on the main window so everyone could view the distant enemy more clearly.
"A meteorite?"
A bare meteorite drifting through space didn’t seem unusual in any way. The crew saw similar ones all the time. But how could a meteorite launch an energy attack?
Without Ethan needing to speak, Luna continued zooming in on the image, focusing on a dark crater on the meteorite’s surface. She then used an outline effect to alert everyone that "something is here."
"What is that?"
The bridge quickly became lively. Betty and Nebula, who had been aboard the ship the whole time, arrived, and Selene, O’Connell, and others who had been training recently also rushed over.
"It looks like... a bug?"
Hermione looked at the outlined shape on the screen and thought it increasingly resembled a bug. Then she noticed the data labeled next to it.
"But isn’t that bug a bit too big?"
The part they could see alone was about five meters wide. And that was clearly only a small section. No one knew how much of it was still hidden in the shadows.
At that moment, Luna issued another warning. "Multiple high energy reactions detected."
(To be continued.)
