Chapter 403: Chapter 88: Illusion Array

Chelsea felt her body had gone numb; the wounds from yesterday’s battle still throbbed faintly, and today she faced yet another powerful enemy.

The robust wolf warrior brandishing a flail in front of her was, without doubt, the strongest foe she had ever encountered.

This tool, originally meant for threshing wheat, was extremely lethal in combat, especially in his hands. Every time she parried or blocked his attacks, half of her body would tremble.

Chelsea thought that not even her corner leader might be his match, even though her wolf team’s corner leader and members were top-notch fighters.

The air whistled around her ears, the iron ball fastened atop the flail covered in sharp metal spikes. A strike from it would do far more than just fracture bones.

One hit, followed by another.

Chelsea struggled to hold up and barely blocked the last strike, only to stumble and kneel on the ground.

Seeing the enemy raise the flail again, the metal ball slicing through the air with a howling gust, suddenly a scarlet blade silently cut across his neck.

Bang—

The heavy flail dropped from his hand, crashing onto the ground.

Chelsea watched in disbelief as the massive, invincible wolf warrior clutched his throat, blood bubbling from his mouth, then collapsed with a resounding thud, revealing a crimson figure behind him.

She quickly realized what had happened and stammered, "Th... thank you."

Kurs remained silent, cutting two slits on the dying wolf warrior’s wrist, letting the blood flow freely and seep into the Blood Array etched on the ground, before slipping back into the shadows.

In this chaotic situation, it was his best chance to harvest lives. Yet, his goal was not to kill indiscriminately, but to eliminate all foes approaching Furinjira. Every fallen enemy’s blood would infuse the Blood Array and then empower him, far more practical than having to siphon blood directly.

Bang—

A tall and a short werewolf flipped up onto the city wall.

The taller and burly one had black fur, while the other had brown fur and was much slimmer.

Standing on the city wall, the two werewolves emanated a stifling concentration of menace, causing the defending wolf warriors’ hearts to sink. Even the lone Centurion’s face showed a serious expression.

These two pure-blooded werewolves were unequivocally strong among the Centurions.

"Finally, we have opponents of substance again."

Furinjira’s voice held a trace of bloodthirsty excitement.

Though she detested the wolf race’s scent, even the most discerning vampires had to admit that a pure-blooded werewolf’s blood contained endless treasures, whether in energy density or life force, making it among the best of blood.

Second only to the Lord’s Dragon Bloodline.

This was also why she often asked Hans for blood donations without reservations. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢

Sadly, the current Lord, whose Dragon Bloodline had mixed with various dragon blood essences, was far more enticing than the version she first tasted.

If they were to live together like before, she felt she might soon be unable to resist her vampire instincts.

The black-furred werewolf regarded Furinjira warily: "Royal bloodline?"

The Yakxi Family understood the Blood Royal Court well, for they sent a rotation of elite wolf warriors to Albania every year.

The initial land contest between the two had evolved into a trial ground for their family’s younger generation. After all, in this era, Albania was quite impoverished and not worth investing so much power in an endless stalemate.

Though Furinjira’s Cepesh Family was not among the contending forces, it didn’t mean he couldn’t recognize the scent of high-ranking blood race members.

"So you have some insight. In recognition of your discerning eyes, this princess offers you the grace of self-execution."

Furinjira wore a smug expression, the Blood Array beneath her feet incessantly channeling power into her. If it were to fully unleash, she felt no foe could stand against her.

"Kill her!"

The black-furred werewolf exchanged a glance with his companion and charged Furinjira from both sides.

The lone Texas Wolf Race Centurion rose to intercept, attempting to halt their charge, only to be effortlessly brushed aside by the black-furred werewolf. Though both were Centurions, the gap between them was astounding.

This was one of the reasons the doctrine of bloodline hierarchy was so deep-rooted among the wolf race.

A wolf from a large family, even a mixed blood, is stronger than some small family’s pure-blood werewolves, not to mention a large family’s pure-blood compared to mixed blood from wandering wolf races. The difference was clear.

Kurs’s Blood Blade unexpectedly appeared, transforming into a fiercely spinning scythe.

The sudden strike caught the black-furred werewolf off guard, yet he remained unfazed, raising his arms to shield his chest as the scythe’s sharp edge embedded in his bone. The corrosive blood toxin sought to invade his body through the wound.

"Get lost!"

A rough roar erupted, an invisible sound wave immobilizing Kurs in place, before the werewolf swatted him aside with a heavy blow.

Meanwhile, the smaller brown-furred werewolf, relying on his superior speed, had almost reached Furinjira.

A sinister smile spread across his face.

His mouth opened wide, teeth gleaming as he lunged to bite down.

Yet, the expected feeling of flesh did not arrive, his teeth clashing painfully together instead.

"Guess where I am?"

A crisp feminine voice rang out.

The brown-furred werewolf looked up, astonished to find his world enveloped in crimson, with a massive eye, bloodshot veins visible, replacing the sun in the sky.

The Princess of the Royal Court, bat wings sprouting from her back, gently swirled a goblet in her hand, standing in the midst of the blood-red world.

Without hesitation, the brown-furred werewolf lunged again. Before he could close in, the Princess of the Royal Court turned into a red mist, vanishing from sight.

Hah!

A cruel smile graced the brown-furred werewolf’s face. His claws extended like blades, slashing at the gigantic eyeball.

Ah!

A sharp scream pierces the air.

The Princess of the Royal Court plummeted from the sky, crashing to the ground.

Watching her retreating figure, her horror apparent, excitement gleamed ever brighter on the brown-furred werewolf’s face: "I’ve never tasted royal blood before, today is truly my lucky day, catching an undeveloped little one."

Furinjira continued to back away: "No, don’t! I’m the Princess of the Cepesh Family; daring to harm me means your Yakxi Family is declaring war on us, a burden you cannot bear."

"The war has already begun."

The brown-furred werewolf sneered, his sharp claws slicing open the Royal Court Princess’s chest, clutching the heart that thumped within.

A jolt of intense pain surged from his chest.

The blood-red world faded.

Confused, he glanced at the Princess of the Royal Court opposite him, filled with cruel glee, and looked down to discover a gaping hole where his heart should have been.

Malicious taunting rang in his ears from the young lady.

"No wonder they say wolves are a bunch of muscle-headed fools; even a simple illusion array fooled him completely. Had I known, I’d have made his companion impersonate me and watch them mutually destroy each other."

Kurs appeared behind her, a tender smile full of pride and ’my daughter is growing up’ radiating from his eyes.

"Her Highness has truly extraordinary skills."

Against these two wolf Centurions, he could at most contend with one for a time but would likely not emerge victorious, yet Furinjira could easily dispatch one, leaving him both gratified and reflective.

Terror etched across the black-furred werewolf’s face.

"What have you done?"

He had been held off by Kurs briefly, observing his companion, who reached Furinjira first, being suddenly frozen, and in fear, dared not approach recklessly.
