Dragged Into Another World Because of My Otaku Friend-Chapter 86: Gun and Slash
Chapter 86: Gun and Slash
Daria was closing the distance fast. She was agile, too agile. Letting her get close would be dangerous, especially for me, since I had far less DEF than Bob.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
I fired at her with my gunblade. She deflected some of the bullets, but it was enough to halt her advance.
Bob seized the opportunity. He lunged forward with Dash Slash, appearing right in front of her and slashing with both of his swords.
Daria flinched. She hadn’t expected someone of Bob’s size to move that fast.
She quickly raised her twin blades.
Ping!
Sparks burst as their weapons clashed.
Bob launched into a flurry of aggressive strikes. Daria parried every blow, her expression calm and sharp.
’This guy has no formal sword technique,’ Daria thought, annoyed. ’He’s just swinging wildly.’
As Bob raised one of his swords to strike from the side, Daria drove her knee into his abdomen.
"Urgh!" Bob grunted, his body doubling slightly. Luckily, his thick layer of fat absorbed most of the impact, but it was enough to cause him lost his footing.
Daria spotted her opening and prepared to finish him off.
But I was already there.
I emerged from behind Bob and fired.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Daria twisted to deflect the shots, but one of the bullet grazed her exposed left side of abdomen.
She hissed and leapt backward, one hand clutching her bleeding wound.
But we weren’t finished.
Our Gun & Slash tactic was simple, Bob would go in for melee, drawing the enemy’s focus, while I struck from a distance using my gunblade or spells.
It was a strategy born accidentally back during our fight with the bull monster.
But after that, we’d sat down in our rented room in Rose City and worked on it, refining every detail.
Our tactic was relentlessly aggressive as we gave enemies no time to think. The goal was simple, confuse them. If I was under attack, I’d bait the enemy long enough for Bob to strike from behind. If Bob was the one targeted, then I’d be the shadow that appeared at their blind spot.
It worked. Especially in a 2v1 scenario like this.
Some people would call it unfair.
But say whatever you want, to survive, you don’t follow rules.
Bob dashed forward again, using Dash Slash to close the distance.
"Tch. These two are so annoying," Daria muttered, irritated.
She turned, trying to retreat to another side of the chamber—
"Iron Spike Bullet!"
Five sharp iron bullets in cone shape blasted out in a straight line, flying directly toward the path Daria tried to escape through. Her eyes then locked on me, clearly the one who cast it.
I stared back, my expression saying everything.
I’m not letting you get away that easily.
Bob had already caught up. He leapt high and raised both his swords above her.
Ping!
Daria crossed her twin blades just in time. She crouched low, bracing as Bob came crashing down with his full weight and momentum. Her knees buckled.
They were now locked in a battle of strength.
But Bob had the upper hand. His ATK stat was higher. Daria felt herself being pushed lower.
She tried to raise her leg again for another knee strike to the abdomen—
But Bob had anticipated it. He stomped on her foot, locking it in place.
"Hahaha! You think I’d fall for the same trick twice? I’m not that stupid," Bob said with a cocky grin.
Sweat formed on Daria’s brow. Her once calm expression began to crack.
Watching this unfold... anyone arriving at this moment might mistake Bob for the villain.
After all, he looked like one now, grinning, and overpowering her with brute force.
"Now, Alan!" Bob shouted.
I immediately pushed the hilt of Indra and straightened it, switching it into Blade form.
I hovered it near my left hip and shouted, "Dash Slash!"
Daria’s eyes widened.
In a blink, I appeared behind her and slashed across her back. She let out a sharp scream before her body was hurled toward a nearby wall, crashing into it with force and then falling into the shallow water below.
Splash.
"Nice teamwork, dude!" Bob grinned and raised his hand for a high five.
Clap!
I met his palm with mine. Our teamwork was clicking like never before.
"This is the first time I’ve attacked a woman..." I muttered, looking at Indra. "Is that something to be proud of?"
"She’s evil, man," Bob replied casually. "Of course we should be happy. Bad people deserve to be stopped."
We both turned our gaze toward Daria, still lying motionless in the shallow pool.
---
On the other side of the chamber, Alice was still examining the Kaoslith.
She carefully inspected every angle of the strange crystal, looking for anything that could give them a clue.
"Hahaha... you won’t find anything! Our lord’s plan is flawless! With this Kaoslith, no one can stop us!" the robed man cackled.
He was now tightly bound by Beltimore using rope, unable to escape.
"Who is your lord? What’s your true plan?" Beltimore demanded, his voice loud.
Ptoo.
The man spat to the side.
"You want answers? Over my dead body!"
Beltimore narrowed his eyes and turned to Alice.
"Anything yet?" he asked, voice low.
"Not yet," Alice replied, eyes still fixed on the glowing structure. "I’ve never seen a Kaoslith like this before. I need more time."
Beltimore’s brow creased with tension.
Alan and Bob were fighting alone, against an A-Rank foe like Daria. They had to be struggling. If they lost, he and Alice would be next.
Without magic, magic users like them were the weakest on the battlefield.
That’s why in real wars, mages were always the first to be targeted, they were the ones who could change the tide.
Once they were eliminated, victory was nearly guaranteed.
Beltimore glanced toward the other side of the chamber.
His eyes widened in disbelief.
Alan and Bob were still standing tall...
And lying in the shallow water before them—
...was Daria.
’Did they actually defeat her?’
Beltimore adjusted his glasses, voice calm but cutting.
"Looks like your partner’s been defeated."
The robed man... smirked.
Then he laughed.
"Hahaha—!"
His laughter echoed across the chamber like a warning.
"Are you sure she’s lost?" he sneered. "Because from what I see..."
"She’s just getting started."
