Dragged Into Another World Because of My Otaku Friend-Chapter 107: Windpiercer
Thud!
The sound of the massive Red Condor crashing to the ground echoed throughout the entire field.
I was flabbergasted. My jaw dropped so wide that a fly nearly flew into my mouth. Did that really just happen? Did Plump,my goofy blank-eyed rooster just flatten a beast like that with a single kick?
"Plump! You did an amazing job!" I shouted, rubbing his neck in excitement. But true to form, he just tilted his head and blinked blankly, expressionless as ever. No reaction. Just pecked the dirt.
Everyone else was stunned too.
Aaron’s group, who just moments ago were laughing at us being chased, stood frozen. Their grins had long disappeared.
Cerdic stared, wide-eyed.
One kick? That’s all it took?
Just how much power is behind that bird’s legs?
"Nice one, dude!" Bob finally caught up, panting heavily as he slapped Plump’s side in approval.
Linus arrived next, staff in his hand. "Get ready. It’s not over yet."
As he spoke, the Red Condor groaned and slowly raised its head, then its massive body. Its eyes now burned with fury. With a violent screech, it leapt into the air and began to beat its colossal wings.
Whoooosh!
A gust of wind slammed into us like a mini-typhoon. Dirt and grass scattered. Bob and Linus leaned forward, struggling to stay upright against the sheer force.
Plump was struggling to stand against the violent winds, and I clung tightly to his body to avoid being thrown off.
Linus, shielding his face from the gust, began rotating his staff it rapidly in front of him. A vortex of wind formed, swirling outward and pushing back against the storm from the Red Condor. Step by step, he advanced through the pressure, cutting through the gale with sheer force.
The Red Condor paused for a moment, only to rear back and prepare for another, even stronger burst of wind. Its wings tensed, muscles coiling.
But Linus was faster.
With a sudden leap, he soared into the air as his body suspended in mid-air right in front of the condor’s massive face.
WHAM!
He swung his staff with all his might, landing a direct hit against the beast’s chest.
PANG!
The impact echoed, and the Red Condor flinched, pushed slightly backward mid-air. Its wings faltered for a brief second.
That was our chance.
"We’re going in!" Bob shouted.
We split up, dashing in opposite directions as we circled the bird.
The Red Condor quickly noticed our movement. Its head snapped toward me, and with a powerful beat of its massive wings...
WHUMP!
A visible gust of wind surged in my direction, carrying dust, leaves, and small debris as it roared toward me like a mini tornado.
Perfect.
It took the bait. The beast’s focus was now entirely on me, which meant Bob was free to close in from behind, just as we planned. That was the heart of our signature tactic:
Gun and Slash.
Of course, I had no intention of taking that wind blast head-on.
I tightened my grip on Plump’s reins and shouted, activating his next skill,
"Searing Dash!"
FWOOSH!
Plump exploded into motion, his body blurring as flames ignited beneath his feet. The acceleration was so sudden it felt like I’d been launched from a catapult. My face stung from the swarm of insects I collided with mid-dash.
I pulled the reins, forcing Plump into a sharp turn to the left before we overshot the field, and got far from Bob.
The intense speed finally subsided, and I glanced back.
A glowing trail of fire marked our path across the grass, like a burning flame scorched into the earth.
The elite Red Condor was growing more and more agitated. Its attacks had failed several times now, and its piercing screeches echoed with fury.
It began to flap its massive wings again, preparing another gust, but this time, we were ready.
Bob sprinted straight toward the condor, both hands gripping his dual blades. Gaia Sword in one hand and the blazing [Embersteel Sword] in the other. He crossed the blades at his side, and the edges began to glow with a radiant blue light.
Then, with a roar, Bob activated the new technique.
"Aero Slash!"
He swung both swords outward in a wide arc, releasing two brilliant crescent waves of energy that rocketed toward the Red Condor.
The bird, that was in mid-preparation to blast me with another wind attack, suddenly shrieked in pain as the twin slashes slammed into its back. Its body lurched forward awkwardly, its wings faltering as it lost balance and began to descend.
That was my cue.
I charged in with Plump, switching my weapon from gun mode to blade form. Indra now gleamed. I positioned the blade beneath me and raised it upward as we approached.
"Ascending Slash!"
Indra surged with light-blue energy as I swung it upward. The arc of my slash left a glowing trail, striking the Condor mid-fall and knocking it slightly back into the air, just long enough.
"Tailwind Step!" 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚
Bob was already there, waiting beneath it, his body is covered in light blue aura as he used the dash skill.
"Windpiercer Jab!"
Whoosh!
The sharp whistle of the wind cut the air as Bob thrust both blades upward into the falling beast’s exposed underbelly. The Red Condor let out a piercing screech of pain.
Thud!
The creature crashed into the earth, writhing in agony. Deep stab wounds punctured its abdomen, and lacerations covered its body. Its wings twitched uselessly against the blood-soaked ground.
"Now this is what I call a combo!" Bob shouted, eyes gleaming with excitement.
"These skills are amazing, man!" I replied, just as hyped, riding Plump over to join him.
In just ten seconds, we had chained and executed every skill from our new [Windpiercer Routine] set. Each move flowed into the next very smoothly, fast, clean, and devastating. These skills were made for our fighting style.
A few steps away, Linus stood frozen in place, stunned by what he had just witnessed. But even his reaction didn’t compare to Cerdic’s.
He, who was halfway back to his group, had completely lost his usual dramatic composure.
’They... defeated a beast that could flatten an entire town with a single flap of its wings... by themselves?’
He couldn’t find the words. His mouth was slightly agape.
Dalma and the rest of the Goldfang party were just as shaken. They had known Red Condors were powerful, but they had never encountered an elite-class one.
And now they had watched two start-up adventurers overwhelm it with ease.
