Dragged Into Another World Because of My Otaku Friend-Chapter 106: Plump
I felt surprisingly comfortable riding on the back of this chicken. Its body was soft, and its stride wasn’t too bumpy either.
Smirking, I looked over at Bob.
"Chicken or not, at least I have a mount. I’ll call him Plump," I said proudly.
"Hmph. Show off," Bob muttered with a pout.
Linus, still wiping tears from his eyes. This guy really laughed as much as he wanted. He finally composed himself. "So, what do you plan to do with this... beast?"
"With this mount, it’ll be easier to chase those birds. If Cerdic has a horse, then we have Plump. Bob and I will ride him together," I declared confidently.
Linus raised a brow, glancing at Bob. "I don’t want to be judgmental, but... are you sure it can carry both of you?"
I paused. He had a point. Plump could probably handle me, but both of us? That might be pushing it.
Bob stepped forward and, with a little hop, landed behind me on Plump’s back.
I tugged gently on the rope reins to signal Plump to walk.
But I immediately felt it, Plump was struggling. His body trembled under the weight, and his steps were slow and shaky.
"Come on, Plump. You’re stronger than this!" Bob cheered from behind, trying to motivate him.
Plump clucked in frustration, mustered some effort, and pushed forward... only to trip on a rock and collapse sideways.
The next thing we knew, we were tumbling off and rolling across the dirt path in a mess of feathers and dust.
Linus sighed. These two were absolutely hopeless.
"How about this?" he suggested. "Since you have a gunblade, Alan, why don’t you ride the chicken? Lure the bird close, and Bob and I will handle the rest."
I stood up and dusted off my pants. Honestly, the idea wasn’t bad, straightforward and tactical. But there was one major problem. The reason I originally wanted Bob to ride with me was because of our range limitation. I needed to stay within a hundred meters of him. If I went beyond that, we’d lose our shared power and Plump would vanish too.
Why did that old man design the system with such an annoying restriction?
"It’s okay, Alan," Bob said, smirking. "I’ll stay within range. You just focus on baiting the bird."
He always seemed to know exactly what I was thinking.
I nodded. Looks like we had our plan.
---
Ten minutes later...
"GET AWAY! GET AWAY ALAN! GET THAT THING AWAY FROM ME!" Bob screamed at the top of his lungs.
He were sprinting like madmen.
Behind him was me, clinging for dear life to Plump.
And behind me, was the monster.
The Red Condor I’d managed to lure out wasn’t just any red condor. It was the largest one in the flock. Twice the size of the others, feathers burning bright like molten crimson, eyes locked onto us like a missile.
It looked like we were being chased by a low-flying airplane.
---
Swoosh! Swoosh!
Meanwhile, on the other side of the field, Cerdic was effortlessly slicing through Red Condors. Though smaller than the one pursuing us, they came in numbers.
Riding atop his majestic steed, Cerdic wielded his sword, the Roseblade Thorn with fluid precision. The weapon was slim and elegant, yet menacing, its entire blade wrapped in thorn-like protrusions from hilt to tip. Beautiful but deadly.
Swoosh!
Another condor fell, crashing to the earth beside him with a thud. One by one, the birds dropped, their bodies scattered around him like fallen leaves. He hadn’t even broken a sweat.
But then, his eyes drifted toward the chaos on the far side of the field, toward the trio.
He challenged them to see who killed the most red condors. He already killed 5 of them. It is not a simple feat. But...
’To think they attract the elite variant...
Even I would struggle to face that one head-on. They really had bad luck’ he thought, narrowing his eyes.
"Hahaha!" a laugh was heard from other side. He turn his eyes, and looked his group members laughing maniacally at the scene.
Cerdic clicked his lips, annoying at his team laughing at others, while they happily stand at safe place.
---
"Bob, run faster!" I screamed at the top of my lungs.
Our plan was simple, lure the bird toward Linus, who was already in position, ready to strike. But to bait it in, I had to get close, and Bob needed to stay within range of me.
We had picked one of the condors from a distance, it looked about the same size as the others, perched calmly on top of a rocky hill. I aimed and fired Indra, striking it cleanly.
But as the bird took flight and drew nearer... something was off.
It was massive.
Far larger than the others.
It must be an Elite Variant.
Why is it always an elite variant? Every time we fight something in this world, it’s always turned out to be some kind of boss battle!
Meanwhile, Linus, who was already in his stance on a nearby ledge, narrowed his eyes. He noticed our path veering sharply away from where he’d planned the ambush.
Looks like something went wrong, he thought, assessing the situation.
Without hesitation, he leapt down from the rocky hill, his hooded robe fluttering behind him as he dashed toward us.
As Bob’s pace began to slow, I realized he was already exhausted. The enormous shadow looming behind us crept closer with every second. If I were alone, I would’ve already dashed ahead, escaping its pursuit.
Suddenly, the Elite Red Condor let out a piercing screech and dove straight toward us.
I clenched my jaw. Looks like we have no choice but to fight here... abandoned the original plan.
As the massive bird closed in, I shouted with all my strength:
"Plump! Flare Kick!"
Immediately, Plump skidded to a halt with his claws digging into the ground, turning sharply on the spot, nearly throwing me off from the sudden shift in momentum.
He stared blankly at the incoming condor, no fear and expression on his face, before flapping his wings and lifting slightly into the air.
Then, with fire gathering around his right leg, he launched a powerful kick straight into the face of the Elite Red Condor. 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺
BOOM!
The impact exploded in a burst of flames, blasting through the air like a shockwave. The Elite Condor was struck head-on, twisting mid-flight as the sheer force of the blow sent it spiraling sideways and crashing down hard into the ground.
