Draconic Overlord: Leveling up with an OP dragon system-Chapter 3: Stuck (II)
Chapter 3: Stuck (II)
[Warning! Warning! Warning! Exit dungeon immediately! Chances of survival are extremely low!]
[Warning! Warning! Warning!]...
Liam's eyes widened in shock as he stared at the blood-red holographic message, its urgent warning searing itself into his mind. The alarm continued to ring in his ears, doing its job of guiding and protecting its user.
Liam knew the system wasn't wrong in its urgent warning - he was in grave danger. He could feel the intense magical energy emanating from the dungeon's inhabitants, and he had no doubt that even the weakest among them could kill him with a single hit.
Despite the overwhelming odds against him, Liam didn't succumb to fear. Instead, he gritted his teeth and began to think of a solution. This calm and collected demeanor was likely due to his trait:

"Tsk, there's no other choice..." Liam muttered to himself as he swiftly equipped the gear he had purchased earlier. He knew that his chances of survival were slim, but he would rather die fighting than spend the rest of his life running or hiding. That had been his reality for far too long.
As he prepared himself, Liam noticed the red floating lights that had led him to this place begin to move into the dungeon. He hesitated for a moment, weighing his options. Should he follow the lights or strike out on his own? In the end, he decided to follow them, hoping that they might lead him to a way out - or at least a means to survive.
To Liam's surprise, the ten minutes he spent following the lights passed without incident. They didn't encounter a single beast, and the silence was almost deafening. What Liam didn't realize, however, was that the lights had carefully chosen the safest route. But whose safety were they prioritizing - his, or was there another purpose at play?
Liam halted abruptly, his senses on high alert, as the sound of grunting echoed from up ahead. The red lights paused as well, as if waiting for his next move. As he turned the corner, Liam's eyes landed on a group of short, green creatures with long noses, sharp eyes, and jagged teeth. They were clad in tattered rags and wielded crude daggers.
"Goblins..." Liam muttered, his gaze fixed on the disgusting creatures. Although he had not yet attended the academy where all the basic beast information and other things where taught, he remembered the ones his father once told him about.
With a deep breath, Liam steeled himself. "Tsk, no time to waste, mom's waiting for me!" He charged forward with determination, his movements swift but lacking finesse.
The goblins stared in confusion, their eyes wide with surprise. "Kiii?" one of them squeaked, before they burst into a chorus of disgusting laughter.
Liam's breathing grew heavy as he clashed with the goblins. His attacks were swift, but the goblins found it hard to block them. For a moment, Liam seemed like a seasoned hunter, but his inexperience soon caught up with him. He lacked the speed, power, precision, stamina, skill, and most importantly, experience.
The goblins countered, their daggers flashing in the dim light. Liam tried to defend himself, but he was badly injured in the ensuing battle. His determination and bravery were admirable, but they couldn't compensate for his lack of experience.
[Warning! You have been critically injured. Please receive treatment immediately!]
Liam cursed under his breath as he clutched his stomach, the deep wound throbbing with agony. If left untreated, the consequences would be dire.
Despite his injury, Liam refused to yield. With a grimace, he continued fighting, his movements slowed but his determination unbroken. The five D-rank goblins surrounding him seemed endless, but he battled on, fueled by sheer willpower.
As the fight raged on, one of the goblins stumbled, its misstep fatal. The creature's head rolled off its shoulders, hitting the ground with a sickening thud.
-Ding!

[Recovering status!]
A warm, tingling sensation spread through Liam's body as his wound began to heal at an incredible rate. His stamina, too, began to replenish, revitalizing his exhausted body. The system's notification echoed in his mind, a welcome respite from the chaos of battle.
Liam charged towards the remaining goblins, a triumphant grin spreading across his face. The goblins, still reeling from their companion's sudden demise, were caught off guard. Their eyes widened in shock as Liam closed in.
-Thud!
[You have killed a D-rank, Lvl.15 goblin!]
[Your level has increased!]
This time, the goblins' surprise gave way to rage. They snarled and rushed towards Liam, their daggers flashing in the dim light. Liam could feel his stats increasing, a welcome boost to his dwindling energy.
"Maybe I did make the right choice..." Liam muttered to himself, a hint of determination creeping into his voice.
Despite his growing strength, the goblins' experience and ferocity soon began to take its toll on Liam. The two remaining goblins pressed their attack, inflicting slight but persistent injuries on his body.

[Your level has increased!]
Liam's breath grew ragged as the goblins' relentless assault wore him down. His dagger flashed in the dim light, but the goblins dodged and weaved, their movements a blur.
"What the hell..." Liam muttered, his frustration mounting.
The goblins' resilience was starting to get to him. His body ached from the numerous cuts and bruises, and his energy was dwindling fast.
"Tsk," Liam clicked his tongue, a mixture of pain and annoyance etched on his face.
Just when it seemed like all was lost, Liam spotted an opening. Summoning the last vestiges of his strength, he launched a desperate attack. The dagger sliced through the air, biting deep into the goblins' necks. In a single, brutal stroke, both goblins' heads rolled off their shoulders, their lifeless bodies crashing to the ground.
