Doctor and His Glamorous Sister-in-Law-Chapter 777 - 780 Old Friends
At first, he thought it wasn't a big deal, just a misfiring nerve causing a sudden, sharp pain. But as time went on, the severe pain grew increasingly intense, especially at night, making it almost impossible to sleep. During the day, the pain was still within a tolerable range.
Seeing his condition worsen, his family took him to the hospital for an examination. The results were alarming: there were tiny worms nibbling at his internal organs and bone marrow. Ultimately, the hospital diagnosed him with parasites. Thus began a series of surgeries and targeted treatments. 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺
But what was terrifying was that when surgeons cut his body open, they found his insides perfectly intact, completely free of the many worms that had been visible on the X-rays. Furthermore, the treatments for parasites had no effect whatsoever.
With no other options, he could only return home to convalesce. However, the intense pain continued to torment him. Desperate, he began seeking out renowned doctors and healers everywhere. He consulted all sorts of people, not just doctors, but none of them could provide any meaningful help. This illness had been plaguing him for over a month now.
After hearing Fu Yan's story, a look of surprise appeared on Liu Ergou's face. Worms gnawing on organs and bones, yet a surgical examination showed everything was normal. It was truly difficult to believe.
After some thought, Liu Ergou spoke. "Uncle Fu, based on your story, I'm not very confident either. If what you say is true, not even a resurrected Hua Tuo could cure this illness. Honestly, I need to see your friend's specific condition for myself before I can make any decisions. I can't make promises I can't keep."
Hearing this, Fu Yan nodded in satisfaction. "Good. Er Gou, it seems you've improved quite a bit while I've been away. Alright, we'll do as you say. I'll take you to see him in a bit. But let's eat first. We can talk more after the meal."
With that, Fu Yan lowered his head and began to eat.
Half an hour later, breakfast was finished. Fu Yan was about to take Liu Ergou and Fu Ya to his old friend's house when he suddenly called out.
"Er Gou, wait a moment!"
Liu Ergou turned, looking at Fu Yan with a puzzled expression. "What is it, Uncle Fu?"
Looking at Liu Ergou's confused face, Fu Yan said, "Before we go to my old friend's place, you should change your clothes. What you're wearing isn't appropriate; it's too casual. You need to look more professional."
Fu Yan then went upstairs, fetched a suit, and tossed it to Liu Ergou. "Go change into this in the fitting room. There's a watch on the table in there—wear that, too."
Liu Ergou didn't argue. He just nodded and headed for the fitting room. Before long, he emerged, dressed in the suit.
When Liu Ergou appeared before Fu Ya and Fu Yan, both of their eyes lit up. The suit fit him perfectly. Wearing it, his demeanor instantly became refined and scholarly, giving him an especially reliable appearance.
Fu Yan nodded, pleased. "Not bad. Did you put on the watch?"
Liu Ergou quickly raised his wrist. "I did. It's right here."
Seeing the watch, Fu Yan smiled happily. "Good, good. Now that you're wearing it, let's go." He turned and started walking outside.
Fu Ya, however, stepped up to Liu Ergou and carefully examined the watch on his wrist. With great surprise, she exclaimed, "Wow, Er Gou, I can't believe it! My dad actually let you wear his treasured watch! Do you know what this means?"
Liu Ergou shook his head, looking completely lost. "I don't know. Isn't it just a watch? What could it mean?"
Seeing his clueless expression, Fu Ya couldn't help but tap him on the head. "You dummy! I told you, this is my dad's treasured watch. Let me tell you, my dad said he was saving this watch for his future son-in-law. Do you understand what that means now?"
Realization dawned on Liu Ergou. "Oh, Sister Fu Ya, you mean…"
Before he could finish, Fu Yan's voice called from outside. "Hey, what are you two doing? Hurry up and come out, or we'll be late!"
Hearing this, Liu Ergou and Fu Ya stopped talking and quickly headed outside.
Soon, Fu Yan was driving them toward his old friend's home. After a short while, the car left the city and headed for the suburbs. As he watched the passing scenery, Liu Ergou found the route familiar.
"Sister Fu Ya, why does this road look so familiar?" he whispered.
Fu Ya had noticed it too. "Of course it's familiar. This is the way to my house. It looks like my dad's old friend lives in the same villa community I do."
Things were just as Fu Ya had predicted. Fu Yan drove straight toward the villa complex where she lived. Soon, the three of them arrived at the gate of his old friend's house.
Peeking through the gate, they saw the yard was filled with vehicles of all sizes. Unsurprisingly, these belonged to other visitors.
The three of them got out of the car, and Fu Yan led them straight into the villa. Not only did no one stop them, but the butlers and servants they encountered all greeted them politely. It was clear Fu Yan was a frequent guest.
Without any hindrance, they quickly reached the living room. The normally spacious room was crowded with people, all dressed similarly in either white lab coats or traditional Tang suits. A faint smell of medicine hung in the air. Liu Ergou understood that these were all doctors who had come to treat Fu Yan's old friend.
Upon entering, Fu Yan raised a hand and called out to a gaunt, middle-aged man sitting on the sofa. "Old Zhang, I'm here. How are you feeling today?"
Hearing the voice, the man looked up. When he saw it was Fu Yan, his tightly furrowed brow immediately relaxed. "You're here, Old Fu! It's the same as always. No different than before. I'm already numb to the pain."
Fu Yan sighed and sat down on the sofa with Fu Ya and Liu Ergou.
When Old Zhang's eyes fell on Liu Ergou sitting next to Fu Yan, a hint of confusion couldn't help but show in his gaze. "Old Fu, who's this young man beside you? I don't recall hearing you had a son."
