Divorce, Please: The Young Master Does Not Love Me-Chapter 67: Explanation
He was furious about being photographed by everyone. Having to force a smile for a crowd of strangers was especially disgusting to him.
But what could he do? He was a public figure, the current CEO of LK Group, and the heir apparent to the chairman.
Every word he spoke and every move he made represented the company, not him personally.
So he had no choice but to endure it and keep up the act.
When Mika Summers saw that Tristan Grayson had led her to the women’s clothing department, she frowned. "Did we take a wrong turn?" she asked. "This is the women’s department." 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮
"You want to see your parents dressed like that? You might not be embarrassed, but I am," Tristan Grayson said, his disgust plain.
"If I’m so embarrassing, then why are you dragging me along?" Mika Summers angrily wrenched her hand free and started walking into the store. But she stopped dead in her tracks after just a couple of steps and turned to look back at Tristan Grayson, who was still standing in the same spot.
Tristan Grayson stared at her, his eyes filled with a complex expression. She had just pulled her hand away. By all rights, he should have been angry. Yet, not only was he not angry, but he actually felt a faint, secret thrill.
The feeling was strange, complex, and left him feeling a little lost.
"You just said... you’re taking me home to see my parents?" she asked, her voice trembling, afraid she had misheard him.
"Yes. Is there a problem?"
...Mika Summers’s eyes reddened. Without another word, she walked away.
’A problem? Of course there was a problem! How could she possibly face her parents now? It was as if Tristan Grayson couldn’t be happy unless he was tormenting her every second of the day.’
Seeing her walk off without a single word, Tristan Grayson came to his senses. He quickly chased after her and grabbed her arm. "Where do you think you’re going?"
She lowered her voice to a hiss. "Tristan Grayson, in case you didn’t know, I’ve kept our marriage a secret from my family." If there weren’t so many people around, she would have screamed at him, demanding to know if he could only be happy by torturing her and seeing her humiliated.
"I know."
"Then what is this all about?" ’He knew? So he’s doing this just to watch me make a fool of myself?’
"It’s time we told them. Besides, they have a right to know the truth."
"The truth? So you’re planning to tell my parents that we’re divorced now?"
Her voice rose with agitation. Alarmed, Tristan Grayson quickly clamped a hand over her mouth and shot her a furious glare. "What nonsense are you talking about? We are not getting a divorce."
"..." ’Still putting on an act, even now?’
’Then again, in his world, the only thing as important as Maggie Monroe was keeping up the act.’
"We’re going to see your parents. It’s just a visit to my father- and mother-in-law. You’re overthinking things." Tristan Grayson was worried she would blurt out the word "divorce" for all to hear, so for once, he patiently explained himself.
Mika Summers’s eyes widened in shock as she stared at him in disbelief.
’A visit to his father- and mother-in-law?’
Tristan Grayson smiled at her. He removed the hand covering her mouth, then naturally reached for hers and began leading her into the store.
Mika Summers let him pull her along.
Once inside the store, Tristan Grayson looked at the racks of clothes and was suddenly reminded of that empty closet.
His good mood vanished instantly. He turned to her. "Which one do you like?"
Mika Summers snapped back to her senses and casually pointed to a long black hoodie. "That one."
