Divorce, Please: The Young Master Does Not Love Me-Chapter 47: Guilty Conscience
A few moments later, Mika Summers emerged from the room on the left.
As soon as she stepped out, she saw Tristan standing there, seemingly lost in thought.
She kept her head down, trying to slip past him unnoticed.
But she hadn’t taken two steps past him before he yanked her back.
"What in the world did you say to Tiana!" Tristan demanded through clenched teeth.
His words made her head snap up.
But after one look at his frigid glare, so cold it could freeze a person solid, she flinched and quickly lowered her head again. She shook it, a pang of guilt hitting her. "I didn’t say anything..." ’Even if I did say something, they were just white lies.’
But she only dared to say that to herself.
She didn’t dare say it out loud, afraid it would only anger Tristan more.
"Really? Are you saying you didn’t tell everyone what happened last night?"
"What happened last night?" At the mention of it, Mika’s expression darkened.
’So that’s it,’ she thought. ’He’s afraid of everyone finding out what happened last night.’
She let out a derisive laugh and forcefully shook off Tristan’s hand. "Don’t worry, I haven’t said a thing. As for what happened last night, no one will ever know as long as you don’t talk."
"..." Tristan’s handsome face twisted into an ugly expression.
He felt a fire of rage steadily building within him.
He had originally planned to tell her that since everyone knew what happened last night, he would take responsibility. They could continue to be husband and wife in name.
But from the looks of it, she didn’t seem to care much.
If that was the case, why should he bother setting himself up for rejection?
「The Grayson Residence, Living Room」
The atmosphere was somber.
Tiana was lounging on the sofa, looking at her phone.
Meanwhile, her father-in-law and mother-in-law sat stiffly on the sofa, their faces blank and silent.
Mika looked at the others in the living room and suddenly had no idea where she should sit.
Yesterday, or any other day before, she would have naturally sat beside Tiana. But now, she suddenly felt there was no place for her here.
Because his parents now knew the truth about her and Tristan.
As the family’s former daughter-in-law, she felt she no longer had any right to be in this house.
Just as she was standing there awkwardly, at a complete loss, an arm suddenly wrapped around her waist. The next thing she knew, Tristan was holding her and leading her toward the front door.
"Where do you think you’re going?" Just as they were about to leave, Caleb Grayson slammed his hand on the table and roared.
Tristan turned, his face cold. "Dad, there’s too much at the company that needs my attention. We’ll be back tonight."
"Your grandmother has just passed, and you’re already rushing off to deal with business? Have you no conscience? After how much she doted on you when she was alive... you’re nothing but an ungrateful wretch." Caleb Grayson was shaking with rage.
At Caleb Grayson’s words, Tristan’s hand around Mika’s waist tightened abruptly.
Sensing the rising tension, Mae Lynch quickly stood up. "Alright, dear, don’t be so angry. You know how things are at the company. Just let Tristan go take care of business."
"I’ll have someone handle the funeral arrangements," Tristan said flatly, his gaze lowered. Then he led her out.
Once they were out of the Grayson family’s estate, Tristan shoved her away with a look of disgust. 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
She gave a detached smile, showing no particular emotion.
’It wasn’t the first time he’d treated her this way. There was nothing to be sad about.’
