Chapter 43: Chapter 43: Woman

Cassian’s blood boiled at her words. If she weren’t Aiden Avery’s little sister, he wouldn’t bother with her at all.

’Fine,’ he thought, ’I’m done playing the good guy.’ With that, Cassian pointed to the door and roared, "You’re right. I have no right to tell you what to do. So, Amelia Avery, get the hell out. Right now."

Tears welled up in Amelia’s eyes, threatening to spill. She had expected this kind of confrontation before she came, but she wasn’t afraid. ’Even if he doesn’t like me,’ she resolved, ’I’m going to claim him. He can forget about shaking me off in this lifetime.’

She fought back her tears, merely glancing at Cassian without a word. She grabbed the bottle of red wine from the table, poured herself a glass, and tilted her head back to down it.

At that, Cassian was about to lose his mind. He snatched the glass from her hand. "You’re too young to be drinking."

"If you can drink, so can I," Amelia retorted defiantly.

Just as Cassian was about to respond, the heavily made-up woman from before cut in. "Well, well... where did this little cutie come from? Master Jennings, I haven’t seen you for just a few days and your tastes have already changed."

Amelia watched the woman saunter over to Cassian’s side, wrap an arm around his, and flash a smile that just begged to be punched. In a flash, Amelia shot to her feet, grabbed the wine bottle, and flung its contents right at the woman.

The entire bottle of red wine splashed across the woman’s face, dripping down in crimson streaks.

The entire room fell silent.

Everyone stared at Amelia in utter shock.

After all, no one in the nightlife scene ever dared to mess with Gia Miller.

Gia Miller came from a powerful family, was incredibly well-connected, and even had an older brother who was a triad boss.

Cassian, sitting to the side, had also been splattered with some of the wine. His face darkened as he pushed Gia away. "Take everyone and go have fun somewhere else. I’ll be there in a bit."

Gia had been doused with red wine for no reason. She was furious and felt wronged, but she wasn’t the type to make a scene. She nodded, forced a smile, and turned to the people behind her, waving them over. "Alright, don’t just stand there gawking. It’s my treat tonight—let’s all head to Elysian Bar and have some real fun!"

"Yeah! Let’s go, let’s go! If Miss Miller’s treating, we have to go." A guy in the group who was on good terms with Gia quickly stepped in to smooth things over.

And with that, the rowdy crowd departed.

Before long, only Amelia and Cassian remained in the room.

Staring into the now-empty room, Amelia sank into her seat, dazed.

"Everyone’s gone now. Are you satisfied?" Cassian sneered, leaning back against the sofa with a mocking smirk.

Amelia stared at Cassian, her voice cold. "Perfectly."

"Amelia Avery, you’re insane! If it weren’t for your brother, I’d beat the shit out of you right now." Hearing her response, Cassian shot upright, pointing a finger at her as he yelled.

"Beat me? You’d beat me for a woman like that?" Amelia’s body shuddered at his words. Fighting back tears, she let out a self-deprecating laugh.

"A woman like that? Amelia, I won’t let you talk about my friend that way." 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮

"A friend? Cassian, if you can be friends with a woman like her, then why can’t I be your friend?"

"You... you’re unbelievable. You’re completely irrational!" Cassian was so furious he could have spat blood.
