Chapter 124: Chapter 124: Taking Over

Amelia Avery’s gaze lingered on Mika Summers for so long that Mika eventually noticed.

She looked up, her face pale, and tried to force a smile for Amelia.

But when she saw that Amelia’s once-delicate features were now hidden under a thick layer of heavy makeup, her smile stiffened.

The Amelia she had seen at the bar that day wasn’t like this at all. Back then, she had seemed as sweet, kind, simple, and straightforward as Tiana.

’What on earth happened?’

Amelia Avery gently patted Tiana’s shoulder, let her go, and walked over to Mika Summers. She smiled sweetly and said, "Mika, I heard you’re pregnant? After being pushed by Tristan like that, are you okay?" As she spoke, she deliberately emphasized the word "pushed."

Tristan Grayson’s heart jolted at Amelia’s words. He stopped arguing with Aiden Avery and quickly turned to look at the woman on the bed. Seeing her deathly pale face, he asked, anxious and tense, "Are you not feeling well?"

"I’m fine. All of you can go home. I just need Tiana to stay with me." She didn’t want to get any more tangled up with Tristan Grayson.

Every encounter left her heartbroken and physically drained.

And now, she couldn’t let his every move, his every word, affect her emotions anymore.

’Because I have a child. For my child’s sake, I have to try my hardest not to like Tristan Grayson...’ 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎

’Only if I stop liking Tristan Grayson will I stop feeling sad...’

"Tiana has school tomorrow..." Tristan Grayson retorted, his voice cold and discontent.

Mika Summers lowered her gaze. "Then I’ll be fine by myself. All of you can go home."

"Do you think I’m the kind of man who just abandons his own wife?" He had wanted to say that *he* would stay, but the words came out like this instead.

Seeing her brother lash out at Mika, Tiana quickly wiped her tears and said, "It’s okay, Tristan. I’ll stay with Mika. You can just have the driver pick me up from the hospital tomorrow morning."

Amelia Avery chimed in, "Tristan, I want to stay with Tiana, too."

"Fine, then you can stay here with Tiana," Aiden Avery said, then turned to Tristan. "Tristan, we’re leaving." He grabbed Tristan Grayson and, ignoring his reaction, forcefully dragged him out of the room.

Once outside the room, Aiden forcefully shoved Tristan several feet away. Before Tristan could even regain his balance to get angry, Aiden kicked him squarely in the stomach, sending him sprawling to the floor.

He sat on the floor and looked up, his eyes red with disbelief. "Aiden Avery, are you insane?!"

Aiden Avery gave a cold laugh, walked over to Tristan, and crouched down in front of him. "Me, insane?" he said, his tone a clear provocation. "Fine, let’s just say I am. I’m warning you, Tristan Grayson, you’d better treat Mika Summers a little better. Otherwise, I’d be more than happy to take your wife and child completely off your hands!"

At those words, Tristan Grayson lunged forward and grabbed him by the collar, roaring, "So you really haven’t given up on her! Aiden Avery, don’t you forget—she’s my woman!"

"If she weren’t your woman, I would’ve married her long ago! You know better than anyone how and why you married Mika Summers. Tristan Grayson, if you hadn’t chosen her back then, she would be *my* woman right now." ’He’d been searching for three years. If it hadn’t been for that whole mess with Tristan, he and Mika wouldn’t have been separated for three long years, only for her to reappear in his life as his best friend’s wife.’
