Divine Heritage: Only I Can Judge The gods-Chapter 31: Unexpected Encounter
Chapter 31 - Unexpected Encounter
Kiera tightened her hold on the steering wheel, controlling the car, all for one perfect drift.
Boom!
The blue haired maniac was blasted to the curb, his body rolling a bit before finally settling some distance away.
Kiera stepped out of the car, much to the surprise of the four boys left standing. The smell of burnt rubber was still very much present in the air, a rather invigorating scent.
There was also the quiet sound of reserved laughter.
The boys looked at their leader and back to her, their face tightening into a scowl.
"Pfft, he's a curse bearer, he'll live."
Kiera then glanced down at the boy they had surrounded.
Ark had now sat up straight, his body trembling with laughter and his golden eyes glowing with menace. Although his gaze looked defiant, his body was telling another story.
His shoulder was dislocated, he was bleeding from his mouth and the area underneath his hands had been terribly scratched.
'What did they do to you?'
Kiera had no idea how he had gotten those injuries but she knew it was terrible, only a terrible person could do whatever they did to him
Her eyes then drifted to the car parked not too far away and back to hers.
"Oh..."
Just as she turned her gaze away from them, the four boys all lunged at her, their artifacts already materializing in their hands.
Kiera almost laughed.
'Useless bravado.'
She sidestepped the first boy, his sword whistling dangerously close to her neck.
Like a shadow, she was behind him causing the boy to almost yelp while the other three unleashed a flurry of blows.
Dodging the three of them was quite easy, she had been trained since she was a child on how to handle people like these after all.
The mage among them then raised his hands by his sides, causing a ripple of water currents to emerge from the floor and wrap itself around him, swirling and swirling until he became the size of a terrifying monster.
"Half baked."
With a wave of her hand, the water exploded and the boy was knocked out of his creation, crashing into a nearby wall unconscious.

"You bi—"
Kiera appeared next to another one of them in seconds, a hand to his lips cutting his words short.
"Language please."
His head violently rocked backward, his eyes rolling to the back of his head just before he crumpled to his feet.
Kiera turned her icy gaze to the other two, blood dripping from her fingers.
"Who's next?"

The pitch black sedan once again took to the road, this time with two passengers instead of one.
After dealing with the goons, Kiera assisted Ark into her car which resulted in her premium leather seats getting stained with blood, much to her dismay.
Currently, they were on their way to the hospital, and Kiera was driving a bit more civilly than she normally did.
She had expected to meet Ark in a rather foul mood but instead, she was pleasantly surprised to find out that he seemed back to normal.
He had a light smile on his face as he watched the dash of the car.
"This is cool," he said, stifling a groan to lean in closer.
"Is that an actual clock?" He pointed to a ticking clock.
"Yes." That was her simple response.
Ark then pointed at the throttle, seemingly about to pull it.
"And that?"
"Stop!" Kiera let out a breath, the car waving on the road. "That is the gear shift, you can't touch it while we are still driving."
Ark nodded, filled with childish excitement.
"What about this?"
He continued to pester her white questions all through their journey to the hospital and back, and Kiera was all too happy to explain every aspect of the car to him.
It was fun meeting a fellow car fanatic such as herself.

Due to Kiera's status, she was able to get him a competent healer who healed all his injuries over a couple of minutes, along with giving him a scolding on how he should always wear light coloured clothing at night.
By the time they arrived back at the center, it was already midnight.
Kiera pulled the luxury sedan into the parking lot and she and Ark headed back into the building.
Save for the guards that were mandated to stay awake, they were expecting a silent reception but there was someone else in the lobby.
And someone important at that.
Ark walked into the lobby with Kiera by his side only to be blocked off by a wall of guards, surrounding one man were more than fifteen guards all in full black clothing.
A man in an expensive grey striped suit. He was tall, and had dark hair but that was all Ark could see since he was facing the reception desk.
They walked up to the first two guards blocking off the entrance of the building.
The two men wore clothing that even masked their faces up to their nose, making it practically impossible to tell who they were.
"What are you kids doing by this time?" The first man asked in a polite voice.
"Don't move one inch." The second man spat, a bit more menacingly. The artifact in his hand shook slightly as though it was begging him to try.
'Who are these guys?' Ark wondered as he watched them intently. 'And who is so important that they need this many guards?'
They were dressed differently from the guards they often saw here, and they were not just regular guards, but curse bearers...
Kiera on the other hand was perfectly okay, it seemed sights like these were the norm to her.
Soon, the man seemed to finish his discussion with the receptionist and turned to leave.
That was when Ark finally got a glimpse of his face.
His heart thundered in his chest, his eyes widened slightly and his breathing ceased altogether.
Ark rubbed his eyes in case he had been imagining things but he was still right there.
Millions of questions raced through in his mind plaguing his thoughts to the point where they became incoherent.
The only thing he could say was:
"Dad?"
