Divine Beast Creator-Chapter 1918 - 1919: Homecoming
"Even Yognot has to get involved? You guys are really... daring."
Glancing at young Yognot, Feng Yuan marveled. Although he thought this might not be a good thing, it was, after all, Cha Mu Town’s internal issue, so he couldn’t say much. Moreover, Drudgeon’s involvement added another layer of complexity to the situation.
Feng Yuan was certain that Drudgeon was definitely aiding this plan from behind the scenes. Of course, due to the unique nature of Divine Pact Makers, Drudgeon wouldn’t use the Divine Beast Contract to cause any trouble; otherwise, Feng Yuan suspected Agunas might come over and teach Cat Ball a lesson.
Still, Feng Yuan couldn’t shake the feeling that He Nanqing might be... overreacting a bit. After pondering, he spoke up.
"Aren’t you being a bit... too pessimistic? While Data City might be quite attractive to budding Beastmasters, it’s not like Data City can grow rare Spiritual Medicine and Materials."
"I understand, but we in Cha Mu District also don’t possess those things. Besides, it’s always wise to prepare for the worst-case scenario; it’s perhaps the worst I can imagine."
He Nanqing chuckled softly as she placed her teacup down. After a long silence, Dou Yanlan looked at He Nanqing and asked,
"Have you consulted with those Legendary Beastmasters about these plans?"
"Is there a problem?"
"There is a small issue. Based on your proposed conditions, it would attract Beastmasters who are still in the growth phase, which does not match your requirements."
Dou Yanlan hesitated, explaining that teachers like those in their academy wouldn’t be drawn in by He Nanqing’s conditions. Although they might only be Legendary Beastmasters and still far from the Legendary Level, they choose to stay at the academy because their strength growth has already slowed to a crawl.
In such cases, what resources can He Nanqing provide that would be of use? As for Spirit Beasts, it’s even more unrealistic. A Legendary Beastmaster’s beast team is more or less already formed, and at this point, they raise Spirit Beasts more according to personal preference.
Just as Feng Yuan was doing now, though Feng Yuan himself was already a Legendary Beastmaster, so he could mess around as he pleased.
Could He Nanqing’s plan be effective under such circumstances?
Watching Dou Yanlan’s serious expression for a moment, He Nanqing laughed softly and said,
"We never intended to directly recruit Beastmasters who have passed the rapid growth phase. It might take a long time to see results, but isn’t forming good relations before they take off better than simple transactions? I’m not fond of mere profit exchanges."
"So you’re... investing in the new generation of Beastmasters?"
Hearing this, Dou Yanlan understood He Nanqing’s intentions. Even with resource exchanges, the entire Cha Mu District wouldn’t necessarily be more appealing than Maomu Academy.
The teachers at Maomu Academy don’t necessarily work there just for a stable job. If they contribute to the cultivation of Beastmasters, even Great Xia would reward them handsomely. No matter what, Cha Mu District can’t compete for Legendary Beastmasters with the Beast Taming Academy backed by Great Xia.
This proactive support of Beastmasters is definitely approved; otherwise, the influential families would have done it already. It’s limited to prevent the influential families from stirring trouble and prematurely drawing Divine Beasts by betting on every potential Beastmasters.
He Nanqing’s approach is for Cha Mu District. With Drudgeon watching over, it’s not surprising they got approval. However, Feng Yuan had a suspicion that He Nanqing’s actions hinted at a desire to upgrade Cha Mu Town to Cha Mu City.
Hopefully, they can manage it themselves...
Thinking this, Feng Yuan decided not to voice it since he believed He Nanqing must understand as well.
After some idle chat, Feng Yuan and the others were the first to leave. Outside the small teahouse, Feng Yuan sighed helplessly and said,
"Though it’s excessive to keep Cha Mu District unchanged, with all this trouble, let’s hope they don’t cause any incidents."
Qi Chen couldn’t comprehend Feng Yuan’s words as he had never considered such complexities. Dou Yanlan, on the other hand, didn’t mind, knowing well that He Nanqing was smart and had no ulterior motives. However, with Yognot’s unique nature causing such a stir in Cha Mu District, it might not be a good thing.
But all of this was irrelevant to them. After wandering Cha Mu Specialty Town for a while, the three of them returned home separately by dusk.
Upon returning home, Feng Yuan saw Qi Xiaoshuang sitting on the sofa reading a book. Although she hid it well, Feng Yuan sensed that Qi Xiaoshuang had been waiting for him and Qi Chen to come back.
"Brother, Feng Yuan, you’re back?"
At the enthusiastic greeting from Qi Xiaoshuang, Qi Chen furrowed his brows, pulling a long face, and said, 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺
"Xiao Shuang, did you do something wrong again?"
"No way! Brother, how can you say that about me!"
Hearing Qi Chen’s words, Qi Xiaoshuang replied defiantly, simultaneously setting down her book and leaning on the sofa backrest, looking curiously at the two.
"By the way, what’s going on with the plaza over there? Why was it suddenly closed?"
"The plaza? Did they close the entire plaza?"
Feng Yuan was taken aback, asking strangely. He couldn’t quite understand why Qi Xiaoshuang would suddenly ask about this. She nodded, saying,
"Yeah, though they didn’t say it directly, I feel it must be related to you guys; otherwise, it wouldn’t be such a coincidence."
While Qi Xiaoshuang didn’t know where Feng Yuan and the others had gone, she was aware of the incident where Liao Yu and others had come looking for Feng Yuan earlier. Upon a simple deduction, Qi Xiaoshuang suspected that this might be another thing Feng Yuan had done at the Stray Spirit Beast Paradise.
"Hmm, it can count as related to us,"
Feng Yuan stroked his chin and recounted the incident with the Cast Cubes. After hearing Feng Yuan’s description, Qi Xiaoshuang was stunned and said,
"No wonder they closed the plaza; it’s for renovation. In that case, I wonder where the new plaza will be built."
"Why construct a new plaza? I don’t think our city has ever announced any plans to build a new plaza?"
Qi Chen was baffled by Qi Xiaoshuang’s comment about building a new plaza. He truly didn’t understand why she mentioned constructing one.
Rolling her eyes, Qi Xiaoshuang said in exasperation,
"Brother, you’re really dumb. Originally, the Stray Spirit Beast Paradise took up part of the plaza. Now that there’s an entrance and exit there, they can’t not enclose it, right? What if a kid runs in by mistake? So, it will again occupy a large area, and I don’t think that shops and the like will let it go once basic security measures are in place."
Casually picking up the White Shadow Wolf, Qi Xiaoshuang lifted it and said to Qi Chen,
"Even I have the need to walk a Spirit Beast in the park. Now, with the space continuously occupied, how much space do you think is left? They can’t reclaim land near the plaza, and the citizens’ recreational needs must be met, so isn’t building a new plaza quite normal?"
"However, if I really had to guess, I’d think opening a dedicated line to Mao Mu Forest might be better. If they renovate that area, it should be a nice park."
Setting down the White Shadow Wolf, Qi Xiaoshuang said, the plaza’s space is still too small. The largest plaza in Maomu City is the one where the Stray Spirit Beast Paradise is located; other plazas are not very large.
Therefore, that plaza is still relatively important to Maomu City. After all, for any special events needing a venue, they can directly use the plaza rather than find other means.
So, not only Qi Xiaoshuang, but even Feng Yuan believed they might have to find a large empty space within the city’s interior to convert into a plaza. Otherwise, when celebrations are held, Maomu City might face the awkward situation of borrowing space from places like Maomu Academy to host events.
As for Qi Xiaoshuang’s suggestion about Mao Mu Forest, though it’s also within the city, that area is indeed too remote, or rather, the vastness of Mao Mu Forest means the surroundings seem more like suburbs.
Converting that place into a park? Feng Yuan thought it unlikely. Even if the area currently didn’t have much use, it was still reserved for contingencies by Maomu City. Unless in special circumstances, he didn’t think they would easily develop and use it.
