Chapter 1885: Chapter 1886: Pursuit

The inside of the massive high tower was incredibly spacious, almost as if the entire internal space had been hollowed out. Feng Yuan suspected that if it weren’t for the unique rules of this area, it might have already collapsed.

However, even with ample internal space, the spiral track winding around the walls looked extremely dangerous. Unlike city tracks, this one allows at most three cars to drive side by side, and with no guardrails, a single mistake could send you flying off the track.

The black wings blocked the item attacks from behind. Feng Yuan had Xiao Ji fully clear the chasing NPCs before immediately pushing the kart’s speed to the limit.

The kart raced madly along the edge of the high tower in constant circles. Feng Yuan didn’t dare to relax for a moment, as one wrong move here could send him flying off.

His worries eventually became reality. The track that had been spiraling within the tower suddenly took a sharp turn towards the outside. Relying on Xiao Ji’s power, Feng Yuan forcibly used the wind to push the kart through two ninety-degree turns, successfully navigating the Z-shaped track. To prevent Yang Hongzhi and Veronia from missing it, Feng Yuan left a string of illumination markers to highlight the sharp turn.

Not far behind Feng Yuan, Yang Hongzhi spotted the unusual path ahead, and with the markers Feng Yuan left, Yang Hongzhi immediately reduced speed and turned early.

Even so, if it weren’t for Najia’s timely intervention, he might have flown off when trying to correct his direction after the first sharp turn towards the outside of the tower.

It’s unclear whether it was intentional or due to limited NPC intelligence, but many karts failed to navigate this section successfully and directly flew off the track, plummeting from the high tower.

"Truly malicious intentions."

Veronia snorted, and Crystal Rose rapidly grew to form a solid barrier, protecting the kart with its power. Veronia’s kart forcefully made it through by colliding with the Crystal Rose barrier.

The track continued to spiral upwards around the tower, soon disappearing into the clouds. In the clouds, visibility was severely limited, yet the fog that suppressed spiritual power didn’t have much effect on Feng Yuan’s Divine Sense.

Leveraging Divine Sense, Feng Yuan maintained maximum speed, charging forward. Xiao Ji, who had been handling the opponents behind, could only cower in place now. Although the fog didn’t affect Feng Yuan, it severely disrupted Xiao Ji’s vision, making it impossible for Xiao Ji to take action as he couldn’t see his surroundings.

The clouds were thick, and Feng Yuan noticed that the track’s upward slope was gradually decreasing. Could they be nearing the top?

With this thought, Feng Yuan focused again on his surroundings. The fog severely affected visibility, and relying solely on Divine Sense feedback, Feng Yuan couldn’t guarantee there wouldn’t be issues.

As the slope decreased to nearly level, the track finally showed a change within Feng Yuan’s perception range.

"How troublesome."

Muttering, Feng Yuan quickly left a glowing marker and prepared to correct his direction with wind.

As the track spiraled near the top of the tower, it suddenly took a turn into the sea of clouds, the ancient stone path signaling a new area.

Veronia and Yang Hongzhi, quickly closing in from behind, weren’t caught off guard by the sudden turn due to Feng Yuan’s markers. The track in the sea of clouds had low visibility, seemingly not the domain of items.

Although Feng Yuan had several obstacle items, he didn’t plan to use them here.

The track was too narrow; using obstacles like banana peels could inadvertently hinder Veronia and others. Additionally, being high in the air, falling off the track could lead to serious injury or worse.

The ancient stone track occasionally branched off into forks, and Feng Yuan regularly left markers to inform Yang Hongzhi and the others of his route. The humidity in the cloud sea was dense; even though Xiao Ji’s feathers could become thoroughly waterproof, the moist air still left droplets on its feathers.

Murmuring quietly, Xiao Ji looked around lethargically, hoping this section would end soon. However, in Feng Yuan’s perception, the track seemed to keep spiraling in the direction of the tower. Although he couldn’t sense the entire scene, based on the route taken, it seemed to progress along a circular path around the tower.

Was the space in this Abnormal Space running out?

Feng Yuan couldn’t help but think. He knew why the area got sealed with Black Mist after they left the amusement facility, not only because they had cleared it but possibly to recover the space, as it clearly resembled a game instance.

He hadn’t expected so many people to enter the exploration space of the Abnormal Space. At least, Feng Yuan was certain that outside the exploration area, there should be no Mirror Space separation.

I hope they’re alright, Feng Yuan thought silently, gathering his spirits to push the speed to the limit once more.

As the track slope appeared again, Feng Yuan suspected the upcoming scene might be in the Starry Sky. However, if not just a mere background, it might pose significant problems.

Not only the air but also gravity changes could be an issue. If indeed a zero-gravity environment, unique gravity might be generated on the track to prevent karts from drifting away.

Was it due to Yang Hongzhi and the others’ actions behind, or was it the NPC’s settings? At least after entering the cloud sea, Feng Yuan hadn’t encountered NPC karts around himself anymore.

The track suddenly elevated, prompting Feng Yuan to floor the accelerator. Sensing a gap ahead, he promptly left a marker and initiated a dash boost.

Shooting out of the cloud sea, the kart made a beautiful arc in the air before landing on a futuristic steel track. Upon landing, Feng Yuan immediately sensed gravitational changes.

Was my guess correct?

With this thought, Feng Yuan eased off the accelerator. With gravity weakening, turning became challenging. After instructing Xiao Ji to use its Ultimate Move on NPCs behind, Feng Yuan looked ahead.

This section of the track seemed like a Starry Corridor construction. Surrounded by sky-blue glass, the track was metal, interspersed with colorful lights at the seams. Around the track, holographic cheerleader images silently cheered.

From behind, karts rushed out of the cloud sea into the Starry Corridor. Xiao Ji mercilessly used Death Storm to sweep them away.

Due to severely weakened gravity here, Xiao Ji’s Death Storm easily swept the NPCs and their karts, tossing them against the glass walls outside the track.

However, Xiao Ji’s actions inevitably left cracks on the glass.

Yang Hongzhi and the others noticed Xiao Ji’s actions and the cracks on the glass, changing their expressions. Although unsure why Feng Yuan hadn’t stopped Xiao Ji, they knew that if the glass wall shattered, the consequences would be severe.

"Do we need to switch routes based on surrounding hints... How dangerous."

Muttering, Feng Yuan left markers on the ground, constantly maneuvering the kart from side to side. Seeing the long arrows, Yang Hongzhi didn’t fully understand Feng Yuan’s intention but instinctively drove their kart over the arrows.

Due to the existing glass cracks, neither Yang Hongzhi nor Veronia pulled away but instead pursued the leading group. At this moment, an internal NPC conflict caused one of their karts to deviate and stray from the arrow-marked path. Despite attempts to turn back, it was too late.

The explosion on the track triggered an air shock, sparking a chain reaction. Those on the perilous path were affected by the tremors, with another kart exiting the safe zone. Explosions kept occurring, continually vibrating the air, making Yang Hongzhi and Veronia feel an intense sense of peril. Consequently, they hastily pushed their speed to the limit, disregarding covering Feng Yuan.

Constant explosions shook the air until finally, the cracks on the glass walls, left by Xiao Ji, couldn’t withstand the constant vibration and shattered. Air poured through the gaps, causing significant obstruction to everyone’s progress, even slowing down the cars considerably.
