Divine Beast Creator-Chapter 1883 - 1884: Mad Coffee Cup
"Didn’t expect the Pendulum to be that easy."
After coming down from the ride, Feng Yuan glanced at the towering structure behind him and sighed. The previous amusement rides had been quite troublesome, so he hadn’t expected the Pendulum to be so simple. All it required was using telekinesis to complete puzzles while the ride was in motion, which was much simpler than the others.
"Were you expecting it to be complicated?"
Veronia looked at Feng Yuan with confusion and asked, scratching her head, Feng Yuan chuckled and said,
"Not really, it’s just that the sudden change is hard to adapt to."
"Hopefully, your words won’t turn the Mad Teacups into a hassle."
Though she said this, Veronia understood that she was merely venting casually. Without special reasons, this place shouldn’t alter the conditions for passing the rides at random.
"The Mad Teacups... Though in the real world, that ride is considered quite relaxing, here it’s really hard to say..."
"Whatever it is, we still have to give it a go, don’t we?"
With a shrug, Feng Yuan said with a face full of resignation. However, the key fragment obtained from the Pendulum was already close to completing the first key. As he had guessed, the key fragment from the Roller Coaster was indeed for another key.
The Mad Teacups ride appeared from the outside like a square octagonal ancient architectural restaurant. But here, apart from the pillars supporting the roof, the interior lacked any support structures.
Large coffee cup-shaped seats filled the internal space, grouped in threes on a disk, evenly distributed. The disks followed a certain pattern as they settled on the larger disk of the ride.
"Even though we just took a break, if this ride causes dizziness like the Roller Coaster, it will be truly annoying."
Before boarding the ride, Feng Yuan couldn’t help but complain. Veronia chuckled and said,
"Maybe, but compared to the previous Pendulum, isn’t this one more likely to prevent dizziness?"
"Who says? Dizziness from normal spinning and gravity is tolerable, but if it’s like the Mirror Kaleidoscope, it’s truly disgusting."
Feng Yuan grumbled discontentedly, tapping Xiao Ji’s head and choosing a coffee cup to sit in. Although a single coffee cup could seat four or five people, there were no other tourists besides them. Moreover, the coffee cups in groups of three were set on a platter disguised as a plate, so they had no reason not to sit separately.
However, once everyone was seated, the surroundings suddenly became bustling with noise. Standing up, Feng Yuan noticed the other coffee cups were now occupied by "people."
But unlike normal people, these peculiar visitors wore expressions and performed actions devoid of emotion, especially their stiff smiles, resembling puppets.
"Everyone, be cautious. The sudden emergence of so many NPCs could indicate a special situation."
Thanks to the gaps between the coffee cups, Feng Yuan could communicate with Yang Hongzhi without needing to remain standing. Veronia glanced around and said,
"Maybe it’s a competition?"
"That would be annoying. We still don’t know what we’re supposed to do here."
Sighing, Feng Yuan said helplessly. Until now, there hadn’t been any rules or guidelines displayed. They couldn’t rely solely on fumbling their way through.
Just then, a warning bell rang, and the large coffee cup underneath sharply shook. The ride’s wooden-like large disk began to slowly rotate, accompanied by cheerful music as stars began falling from the sky.
"Another star-catching game?"
Feng Yuan muttered in surprise. At this moment, a pillar of energy appeared in the center of the circular platter. Veronia casually grabbed the circular handle on the coffee cup and forcefully turned it, causing the cup to rapidly spin. But as her coffee cup accelerated, the spinning speed of the circular platter also increased. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂
Since the circular platter controlled the three coffee cups they were seated in, even the coffee cup Feng Yuan and his group were sitting in started spinning rapidly.
"Hongzhi, have you noticed the coffee cups are grouped in threes, each group having the same patterns with slightly different colors?"
Najia noticed something and said to Yang Hongzhi. Scratching his head, Yang Hongzhi pondered for a moment before asking,
"What do you mean..."
"The stars falling from the sky match the patterns on the coffee cups. Moreover, when the rotation speed increases, the overall spinning speed of the Mad Teacups also quickens."
Explaining her observation, Najia noticed that the NPCs began to act. Some accelerated the rotation speed of their coffee cups, while others forcibly halted their cups to nearly stop the spinning. Though Veronia merely tried it briefly and refrained from meddling, the spinning speed of the large disk became erratic.
Pairing this with the slowly falling stars overhead, Najia seemed to understand the gameplay here.
Shouting her discovery aloud, she heard Feng Yuan shout,
"How about you direct, Veronia?"
Veronia chuckled, understanding Feng Yuan’s intention. It wasn’t out of goodwill but rather because he wanted to slack off. If Najia’s findings were accurate, they would be competing against the NPCs. Though there were no walls blocking the external view, it shouldn’t have too much impact on them.
What Feng Yuan was avoiding might be the calculation process. After all, to ensure the coffee cup with the corresponding pattern was below when the star fell, quick calculations of the large disk’s spinning speed, their own spinning speed, and other data were necessary.
At this moment, everyone felt somewhat fortunate that they had chosen the same set of coffee cups. Otherwise, the competition would have been much harder.
Although Najia didn’t initially understand Feng Yuan’s intent, she quickly realized. While Feng Yuan was slacking, Najia didn’t mind.
Calculating such matters is troublesome, but for the Divine Beasts, it’s not particularly difficult.
However, while the group was adapting, the NPCs wouldn’t wait for them. Following established rules, the NPCs began vying with each other. Even though Feng Yuan quickly adapted and joined the star-catching battle, unfortunately, due to being too slow, they ultimately lost to the NPCs.
"Can we start over?"
Standing up and scanning the surroundings, Veronia questioned. If locked down, it could be troublesome, but judging from the place’s condition, it shouldn’t result in such an occurrence.
As the ride stopped, the NPCs exited the Mad Teacups, leaving the area quiet again. But before Feng Yuan could speak, noise returned.
With the Mad Teacups resuming operation, the energy pillar changed as Feng Yuan and the others claimed the first rank.
Every time progress advanced a notch, the surrounding environment altered once more, from snowstorms to pouring rain, showcasing various extreme weather conditions. But these had no significance for Feng Yuan and his group.
As the final notch filled with star energy, fireworks erupted from the energy pillar, as if congratulating the group. A key fragment slowly descended, which Feng Yuan received, saying,
"Not bad, at least not that... annoying."
"I don’t think so. Without Najia’s help, you probably couldn’t handle it, right?"
Glancing at Feng Yuan, Veronia revealed. She had earlier noted the external environment. As the energy pillar rose, the overall spinning speed of the Mad Teacups also steadily increased. If it weren’t for Najia calculating and directing, Feng Yuan would have been grumbling.
Moreover, while spinning at high speeds, they still had to watch for the falling star patterns above. Snowstorms might have limited effect, but extreme weather conditions had more severe influences, including thunderous rain and terrifying storms, which affected light.
Fortunately, the star patterns were easy to distinguish, unlike the Mirror Kaleidoscope’s dizzying spectacles.
Ignoring the ride sealed by Black Mist behind him, Feng Yuan glanced at the nearby sign and said,
"It seems like another ride with no branching paths ahead."
"Mad Karts? Seems like a rather straightforward name."
With a quirky smile, Veronia muttered.
