Chapter 316: Berserker

Canute was opening slightly his eyes. After passing for so much pressure while trying to crawl to approach Vick, also as shout her name, he ended up fainting some times. He needed to witness her being tortured for too long as well, which made that his exhaustion and mental pressure came to their peak.

His body was very weak. He wasn’t feeling too much pain, but he couldn’t move some parts of his body because it would surely hurt if he did. His head was throbbing, which made it seem that it was nearly exploding.

The man tried to maintain his cool. He knew that, if he got agitated again, nothing good would come out of it. He didn’t know for how long he stayed unconscious. Whatever happened to Vick during this time, he should just bear it and try to find a reasonable plan to get out of that mess.

’I can’t believe that King Leif and Queen Freya could stay still while seeing their own daughter getting beaten like that... For how long could they bear it? Their expression remained nonchalant but got kind of pissed off at some point. Could they hold on even after Vick got that shield tucked in her back? Did they wait until the last moment, that is, when she was already dead?’

His blurred vision began to get used to the faint light that illuminated the throne room of the palace. The man looked around, trying to raise the upper part of his body, but he couldn’t do it, just like in the previous tries. Without anyone helping him, he couldn’t do it. He had serious harm in his brain, so he couldn’t move his body as he did before.

’I was still recovering from the beaten I got... I can’t do anything to help anyone now. My staff is now useless because I did an Overclock on it. I am no different from a wall that can only watch things happeni-’ His train of thought got interrupted once a scream echoed through all the throne room.

His body shivered due to it. For a moment, his mind played with him, making Canute think that it was Vick who screamed like that.

He forcefully raised his head from the ground, at least to have a better look at what was happening inside that place.

Canute’s heart throbbed in both surprise and relief because of the scene that he was witnessing.

Casper was holding a machete in his hand. His body was poising as if he just finished the motion of a slash. In front of him, a Frelsi had one of his arms ripped off.

What followed were the sounds of shots, and the enemy fell to the ground right after.

The White warrior was surrounded by many Frelsis who were looking perplexed at him.

In no time, their shock was gone and one of them yelled for his comrades to set fire on the soldier. They aimed their guns at him and began their execution. That was the only way to address that situation: an execution. About fifty Frelsis against one man wasn’t something to be called a fight.

Nonetheless, the scenes that followed it made Canute and everyone in that room know that Casper was the only unfair thing among them.

After the shots began, the White warrior started his rush as well. His legs moved as fast as never before. He zigzagged among the crowd of Frelsis swiftly. Behind him, a trail of blood and corpses was left behind. The soldier seemed like a truck running over a crowd.

His hands never stopped to move, the trigger was being pulled consecutive times making a rain of bullets befall the Frelsis. Casper’s left hand was holding the machete and slaughtering anyone who wasn’t targeted by the shots. His swings were wide and strong, capable of split a human in two if he got them in the right spot.

That brutal strength mixed with his natural agility and much technique behind, made that scene seem otherwordly. Casper’s attacks were devastator, his acrobatics made him seem as swift as the wind, and his resilience and stamina were incomparable.

’This guy... Was he so strong like this before? It can’t be right. Casper isn’t a superhuman by any means. He is a talented person regarding fighting and the art of war, as it seems, but he is just a guy! How can he do this?’

He continued to spot Casper as he made a carnage on those Frelsi. Although he had a bad impression of the White warrior, Canute knew that he always tried to maintain his composure and act based on his logic more than his emotions. However, by then, that guy seemed like a...

’Like a berserker...’ Canute widened his eyes. ’D-Does he...?’

That Aesir couldn’t believe what was Casper’s choice.

’This idiot. He just began the most excruciating test he will ever pass in his life!’

After injecting Berserker on his blood flow, Casper’s mind started to get numb because of the sudden frenzy and fury that dominated his body. Thanks to Yanke, though, he could maintain his consciousness.

He felt every symptom that Berserker caused on his body. His muscles got tenser, to the point where they seemed to be about to tear off. He couldn’t feel any pain, nor exhaustion. His vision was glazed on his enemies, he felt like looking at a very narrow tunnel.

At times, his body would act out of instinct, as if another person was controlling him. Pain and tiredness got transformed into pleasure and excitement. His emotions got resumed into condensed and latent wrath.

He had a single objective on his mind: find Camilla.

He wasn’t even thinking about Javir anymore. Casper wasn’t caring about that old man and his story at all.

’Yanke, how long do I have?’

’I will finish it in a minute.’ The robot replied.

Upon hearing those words, he held his weapons tightly and went further into the lines of enemies in front of him. More relentless, bolder, colder. Casper was the picture of the monsters that he fought his entire life before.
