Chapter 269: Vanirs part 2

Rurik was engaged in battle with three Frelsi at the same time. Tears were accumulated on the corners of his eyes, he had a pitiful expression behind the mask. Probably, the Immortal Aesir was the only person in the whole district that could walk around without a mask and no one would notice the difference.

The Frelsi had been too confident when trying to fight him and his troop of healers. Some doctors with stern faces and a scared idiot didn’t make them feel any threat coming. They felt like that would be an easy job for them.

However, they were deluded by their appearance and were paying the bill for this.

Behind the Aesir and the healers, corpses of Frelsis could be seen spread on the ground. The healers had scalpels between their fingers and seemed prepared to shot it at any time. Their white coats were stained with blood. The usually affable and calm faces that they would do when dealing with a patient wasn’t there anymore, but cold faces.

"They aren’t healers as the others. I think you already noticed it. I honestly am pitying you all. Poor people, victims of the society, that needed to pass for hell just to be killed for a misunderstanding." Rurik sighed, that quote made his face get even more dejected, he seemed to not even have strength on his arms to keep them raised in guard.

The Aesir was wearing gloves. Those high-tech gloves were famous in the entire district. He was the one projecting it, and this technology was what made him rise to the top so quickly. They usually would shine in a green light that had curative effects. However, now they were shining in red, just like a Helheim weapon.

"Please, forgive me for the pain I will need to make you all pass." He closed his hands into fists as his eyes acquired for a single moment a cold tone. "But now is the point of no return!"

The man kicked the ground, going after those three Frelsis. His speed was noticeable. It was above the average, though not so monstrous as Ivar’s speed.

Those Frelsis didn’t want to back away. They couldn’t bring themselves to do so. Their mission was only one, and they must accomplish it. Even though their lives would be taken, it was for a greater sake, for the freedom of all the district!

They forced their bodies to move and prepared their hearts and mind for the upcoming clash.

The battle was interrupted, though. Something landed in the ground between the two forces, getting in their way. The ground under them cracked in a large range. Both the healers and Frelsis needed to jump away to avoid being caught on the impact.

The criminals looked to each other in relief. They knew who had come there and were sure that their lives were saved.

A man 2.2 meters tall, with a bulked physique, and massive metal gauntlets on his hands raised from the ground. His eyes were shining in a strong blue color that seemed as intimidating as the rest of his big figure.

He looked to the Frelsi, nodding his head to them. His eyes moved toward the other group, filled with confidence.

"Who will be the first that I will kill?" He clashed the gauntlets together, making a loud metallic sound that hurt the ears of those who were close.

"Me!" The Aesir raised his hand. "Please, kill me! Right here! Me first!"

The man looked at him with a dumbfounded expression, tilting his head.

...

A woman that had about 1.6 meters tall was crouching on the ground and looking with curious eyes at the hole that was opened into the ground. Now it was covered by that blue force field that also covered the rest of the city like a dome.

"Hey, so my dream with the snake was about this? How curious... Maybe I should have had said about the one that I had in which each city of the castle became blue marbles. Oh, or then that one of the five Vanirs. That was a funny dream!" She was muttering to herself those things while chaos was happening around her.

She knew that a major part of the citizens was still inside there, but she knew that alone she couldn’t do anything to help them. Some Ridires were positioned in the city and helping, but Brenna was aware of their disadvantage.

"I know that there are one hundred fifty criminals here, and one Vanir. We have about eighty Aesirs and twenty Sgails, though. The disadvantage they had against the Helheim weapons is gone now. They have the surprise element beside them as well. Uppsala will be gone in just some time and the big snake will try to pursue us, probably. Also, I will be attacked in a minute or so..."

She kept muttering as she walked through the city without worries. The Aesir wasn’t even concerned in analyze the battlefield to walk in safe zones and not be targeted. Brenna knew all the paths that she needed to go through to pass unnoticed, she didn’t need to pay attention at all.

’7, 6, 5, 4...’ Brenna counted in her mind the seconds.

Soon, someone appeared walking on the streets and looking at her face. The Vanir was the only person that the Oracle Aesir knew that couldn’t avoid. Differently from the other Frelsis, that one was chasing after her specifically.

She was a woman at least fifteen centimeters taller than Brenna. One of her arms was the only skin visible in her black clothes that covered every single part of her body, even the mask. Something was off with that tattoo and the Aesir noted on her mind to keep an eye on that thing.

"So, you are what they call an Oracle, or clairvoyant, am I right?"

Brenna didn’t answer, she put both her hands behind her back and looked intently at that woman. The Vanir knew exactly what she was holding there, though.

"Your tricks won’t fool me. You can show me your weapons." She narrowed her eyes. The tattoo on her left arm shone in a blue color, which drew Brenna’s attention and got her cautious.

The Oracle Aesir smiled wryly, then looked with innocent eyes towards her enemy, charmingly shrugging her shoulders.

"Why don’t you come here to discover what kind of toy I am holding, Big sister?"

"Then, I will do as you please!" The Vanir shouted, suddenly boosting her body forward and charging her left hand.

...

On the floor where the settlement of the Royal Family was, Freygar stood in front of the door of the main mansion.

That same blue dome also appeared there and the Teleporting pads stopped working long ago when they were trying to evacuate the Royal Family.

’Those bastards managed to mess even with the Teleporting pads... Damn it! We couldn’t evacuate the Royal Family just in time, now they are attacking here. Also, that impact that shook the entire Castle from the floors below us is still unknown. I am trying to contact the other Aesirs, but something is wrong...’

The Cloned Aesir couldn’t think of anything else to do except wait to see what would happen and give his life and willpower to protect those people still inside there. They were all gathered in the main mansion, which made it easier.

’Anyway, every attack that comes here will be dangerous. We need to be twice as efficient when dealing with the enemy. I got the feeling that they are pursuing something here in the Castle rather than trying to destroy it all. And if there is a valuable object somewhere here, then it must be with the Royal Family.’

He was holding his two robust pistols. Some other copies of himself have spread around together with the Ridires. That massive barrier seemed to be strong enough to stop an army.

The Aesir was in front of the formation and saw a strange thing ahead. At first, it was still too far away to be discerned, but afterward, it became clear that a group with several Frelsis were marching toward them.

Freygar cocked the gun, preparing himself.

In some minutes, those people were about 200 meters away from them. They stopped to march and someone stepped forward.

"I am glad to see you, Cloned Aesir." Rat said, stretching widely his arms as if greeting a good friend.

"However, you are in my way, you know? I need that you move away, so I can pass with my partners here and do what I need to do. Don’t worry, by the way, I won’t be hurting anyone if they cooperate.

Freygar looked to all those Ridires holding firmly their Helheims. They had resolute eyes. The eyes of warriors willing to die fighting rather than escaping.

"Of course, Rat. You can pass over my dead body if you have the luck to manage to kill me!" He raised his pistols, closed his eyes for a brief second, and then started to shoot.
