District 42-Chapter 233: Starting
’A Sgail that is an Aesir as well, huh? That’s very interesting. I wonder how strong he is.’ Casper looked intently at the eyes of Ivar, who never avoid his as well. It seemed like a staring contest.
"Hey, Ivar, take it easy man," Thor warned.
The Aesir looked back at him, narrowing his eyes and clicking his tongue. He finally turned his eyes to another side, ignoring Casper. That grin that everyone could feel he had behind his mask never left. That characteristic remembered the soldier of that woman he met since his first day in the district.
However, there was something else with Ivar that he could not sort out. Casper couldn’t notice it while staring at him, but once their eyes departed a huge pressure befell on him. His heart was pumping hard, his hands were trembling, cold sweat run down all his back and made him shiver.
The soldier was trying to maintain his legs steady, though it was a huge struggle since they were shaking so much.
’What’s going on with me?’ His thoughts were somehow louder than they used to be and it caused him a headache for some reason.
’Just what the heck does this guy has? Is it the way he smiles or his staring? I don’t know at all, but I am getting anxious in a way that is definitely not normal for me.’
While he was thinking about those things, Thor approached him and slapped his back. Casper woke up immediately, stopping his endless flow of thoughts. Over time, the symptoms lessened a lot. Even his breathing felt different.
Thor guided him without saying a single word, positioning Casper beside Leonel in the line the Sgails were making and then stepping back.
After all the presentations Thor didn’t waste any more time and started to talk about their mission. He seemed to be very energetic, which left Casper thinking that what they would be doing soon was decisive.
It had the feeling of a final battle. The soldier was sure that they had found the enemies and were following their steps. The only thing remaining was to chase and stop all of them.
"As you all know, we could get a lot of new pieces of information in our last mission at the mansion. Not just Leonel and the other two Sgails could do it, but Casper made an incredible job talking with the father of the Ax family."
The White warrior was sure before that what he could grasp while talking with that person would be of huge help for the team tracking the criminals. Now, it was a matter of fact. He knew exactly what was that information and supposed that it had something to do with their next mission.
"After what he got from Casper, we started to investigate more about the transactions made by the Ax family. We discovered that indeed someone was buying guns with them. We don’t know how this corporation could pass by their security since they weren’t supposed to buy this quantity of guns being just a corporation of Jarls and not military. However, the point is that they could get through it and made the sales of Ax corporation increase a lot.
"We started to inspect each transaction they made and found out that they have a schedule in which they buy guns every second week of the month... and we are now in the second week of the month, so at any time they will go receive the materials on the corporation as they always do. That’s where the strongest troop of my organization, and the White warrior, will enter into action."
As his eyes acquired a greedy and excited gleam, the Sgails looked to each other with confident eyes.
Their next move would be the final one.
"So, when will we start?" Casper asked.
Before Thor could answer, he received a call and answered it quickly. He didn’t say anything to the person on the other side of the line and just heard what he needed to say.
After some minutes, he finished the call and looked to Casper again, smiling.
"I just received a call from our investigative team. We will start it now!"
...
The criminals were gathering inside an abandoned shed that they used as a fake transportation company. It was useful for them since they could hide their vehicles inside there.
It wasn’t so common for a transportation company to have so few Drakkars, so that one was the most unstable they had. At any time people would find it strange and discover what they were doing.
Rat was walking between the Drakkars with his hands together behind his back and looking at them with amusement. He was finding it funny that they would be going out again. He rarely had the time to go out and see the Castle since his superiors always said to him to maintain himself hidden.
His subordinates could often leave the place where they were hidden and go do things outside, but he couldn’t and it got him pissed off all the time.
Rat was singing another jingle on his head walking slowly there. His team was working on the Drakkars, seeing what they could do to fix some things. They knew that that day would be a turbulent one and that’s why they should be prepared.
Some of them were talking and fixing a problem on the structure of a Drakkar. Their eyes looked to the leader of the criminals while he strolled around the place just like he was in some kind of playground or something.
"Do you think that his plan will go well?" One of them asked, taking care to not be heard by the others instead of his friend.
The listener sighed, picking up a hammer and positioning a nail on the Drakkar.
"Of course it will. Who do you think he is? There is no way he will do crazy things that won’t work in the end. That’s how mad and genius he is at the same time."
Most of the integrants of their organization hated that guy a lot. They barely looked at his face directly and didn’t want to talk with him often, just when necessary.
"Do you think that he can be right all time?" He was skeptical.
The other man finished hammering the nail and turned to his friend with a tired look.
"I don’t know, man. But if he was right until now, I think it’s easier to be assured that he will succeed today again. We just got to fix all these Drakkars while he is lazying around and keep our mouth shut. It will be paid off once the plan of the superiors starts to run thanks to our efforts and we gain a prestigious position among them."
They both stayed silent after that quote. It was a cruel reality that they needed to pass through such a harsh situation because of someone like Rat, but things would start to settle after they did their parts.
All the people working on the Drakkars were thinking this same thing, others even conversing about the same subject.
Some hours passed by and they barely noticed that it was about time to start their moves.
In the last moment, a criminal that was fixing the back of the Drakkar found something strange on it. After expecting it for a while, he knew what it was.
"Hey, I think we have a tracker on one of the Drakkars. Someone help to take it off?" Suddenly he felt a presence behind him and nearly jumped out of fear.
Looking back he spotted Rat. He was staring intently at that little thing that was put on the vehicle, narrowing his eyes. It wasn’t a critical look though, but one of amusement.
’This guy... Will he say what I think he will?’ The man shrugged.
"Let it be. We need it attached to the Drakkar. If someone takes it off, I will kill for sure." His modified voice echoed across the shed, making everyone shiver.
They all nodded to him and continued to organize their things to start to operate the Drakkars soon.
Rat was finally seeming more like a leader than a little child and started to look at the job his teammates made with the Drakkars. He knew a lot about it since he was being a perfectionist with the most technical issues.
He checked on everyone to see if they were well prepared and reviewed with them his plan and the course they would make to get the guns that day.
The doors of the shed were opened and the four Drakkars that were hidden in there started to float and then to move.
Rat boarded one of those, taking off the machine gun he stole from that Aesir he tried to kill and reloading it quickly. The other criminals needed to give a step back at the sight of their leader wielding a firearm.
"Ok, guys..." He modified his voice, for one more acute. "Let’s go! It will be funny for sure!"
