District 42-Chapter 181: Preparations
After Leonel finished making their acquaintance, the guy simply left the room and let them interact by themselves. Casper even tried to stop him or to follow, but he just brushed him off and said for him to get along with his teachers.
The soldier just kept sinking in despair as long as he saw that door opening and closing again and the second most sane person of that place left and went anywhere else.
"Get along? That’s easy to say, but what about if they start to attack me again out of nowhere. They won’t kill me, but, man, my left arm still hurts, what the hell does the blade of that knife was made of!? Also, now I am the only most sane person in this room, I must be careful, otherwise, those guys will drive me crazy for sure..." Casper was getting a bit uncomfortable to be alone with those three because of the possibility of they do something idiot again.
"Hey, don’t worry, we won’t attack you anymore... At least, not now, and not without telling you that we will do it before." Third, the taller and mature woman said, with her tender and calm voice. Rather, his voice seemed slower than calm, as if she was talking with a sloth or something. She seemed to be tired, but maybe she didn’t like to talk in a normal rhythm.
"Yeah, we are here just to help you, you know!? You don’t need to be all careful. I mean, they said that you were good, and you showed potential, back on our fight, there is no need to be so shy." Second, the girl with very short hair stated. Her eyes were contemptuous, and Casper felt a bit awkward when faced with that look.
"Ok, ok, then, rather than just keep staring at each other and exchanging our opinions and promises, what about we just go ahead and do something already?" First, the guy, took the lead, and his two sisters didn’t seem to like it that much, but they got quiet after that.
"Well, like my sisters, said, Casper, you don’t need to be frightened. You know, we are very busy nowadays, particularly with all this fuss about war, the Jarls, Frelsis, and so on. We are working triple of what we did before, and we already were doing a lot back then. So, we just wanted to know if you were something worth to us to spend our time training you."
With his explanation, things got even clear for Casper, which had him becoming less stiff but also didn’t vanish the fact that he was pissed off with them.
"Well... At some point, I think that’s just fair... But you could have had done it with another approach, man..." He complained, taking a chair and sitting there. His legs were still slightly trembling because of the previous battle, adrenaline was running in his blood.
"We could, but we wanted to know how you react to sudden danger, and that’s a skill that every Sgail needs to have if he wants to stay alive for some good years. You don’t have any idea how much of us die every year just because of lack of survival potential and quick reaction to threats."
Casper, actually, had an idea. At the start of the Yanke Forces, when a lot of unprepared soldiers were sent to missions without even proper training or orientation, what happened was just disappointing. After the organization passed to the hands of the marshal, it started to go forward.
"But, anyway, cutting the blabbering, we need to take you to the dorm you will be staying in for some time."
The White warrior suddenly got confused, tilting his head to the side.
"Dorm...? Why do I need to go to a dormitory here? I thought that I would be trained for you at a specific hour and could go back home and work at the lab as well..."
The taller woman, Third, looked at Casper with, somewhat, pity, shaking her head negatively.
"No, White warrior. You will be staying here every day for one week while we train you. Also, your work in the lab won’t have a definitive hour to start and to end, since you will be here. Princess Vick took care of everything, so don’t worry about it."
The soldier was kind of surprised.
"Vick really planned everything carefully, huh? It seems as though she was expecting me to do so even before I said to her that I wanted to work with Ridires. She prepared everything... But I would like that she had said to me something, so I could bring some of my things with me today..." He rambled.
First, who was still standing, just like his other sisters, walked towards the door, pointing to it and looking at Casper.
"Please, come with us, we will show you everything you need to know, and what you will be interacting with during these days. You two, don’t argue in the middle of the way, please, otherwise I will be sad..." Second and Third showed their disgust to their brother with their eyes, and then turned their faces to another side, avoiding him.
Casper was in the middle of that comic situation, and could just rub his neck and pretend to not have heard anything special.
He followed First and his sisters throughout the complex. It was a big place, and the trio seemed to be lost a lot of times, but Casper was not sure if that was the case or if they were just trying to fool him. Anyway, because of it, the trip extended for some time until they could get into the second floor, where the dorms were.
The only way to go to the second floor on the Sgail’s Headquarters was to went up the stairs. There were a couple floors on that Headquarters, and all of them could be accessed just through the stairs.
"As far as I saw, they try to be the most minimalistic as possible. The same pattern of painting repeats itself in every place here, and so is the furniture. They seem to don’t have much luxury here, instead, they prefer to be minimalistic."
On the second floor, they brought Casper to his dormitory, which was at the end of the corridor, in one of the extremes of the second floor.
First opened the door showing a dormitory that, Casper needed to admit, was way more good looking than the one they had at the Yanke Forces.
"This dormitory was projected particularly for the Sgail’s necessities. As you can see, the beds are the ones you would usually find at the Ridire’s Headquarters as well. They are made to prevent strong muscle aches, give a good night of sleep, as well as make you wake up at the right time. There are others benefits, but I didn’t memorize everything, hehe."
Casper found the dormitory to be better than he expected. Back at the Yanke Forces, the dorms weren’t the best ones in the world, and a newbie would always have a harsh time sleeping there. Besides, it was used as a way to make the soldiers tougher and disciplined as well, so he wondered if the Sgails and Ridires of District 42 weren’t a bunch of softies. Some Ridires seemed to be splendid warriors, others were just bad, so it was hard to judge, and the soldier didn’t see the Sgails in action yet, so he needed to wait to say it for sure.
They walked further into the second floor, getting into somewhere else.
"We have a cafeteria as well. Three meals per day, and always at a specific hour, so don’t get late, otherwise, you won’t eat."
The cafeteria was what you could expect from anywhere. It was quite plain as well, which seemed to be the standards for that place, simple and plain - except for the beds...
Casper smelled a good scent coming from the kitchen, which was right behind the balcony where the meals were served. If he wasn’t wrong, it was about time for dinner, so the same could be applied to there as well.
The soldier was presented to other places he would be visiting throughout the week. Most of the next rooms showed to him were directed to lecturing. Apparently, the Sgails had their own ways and tricks to infiltrate, investigate and stalk. Most of them were unknown to the White warrior, who was still not completely acquainted with the technology of that word, so he would need to learn how to use properly the tools they had to start going on his missions.
There were some concepts of the world he needed to understand as well, and they would be shown in those lecturing rooms.
"Finally, that’s the place you will be doing most of your training." They arrived at the final place to be showed on the second floor. The metallic door of the entrance was opened quickly by First. Second and Third pushed Casper for him to enter there quickly.
"I hope you have fun, Casper!" Those three were waving for him, with mischievous smiles on their faces.
"Hey, why you don’t..." The door quickly closed in front of him. "... come in..."
