Dimensional Hotel-Chapter 555: Two?
The battle between the rotting remnants of the Alien God seemed endless and pointless—the distorted echoes born from the Divine Corpse were infinite and could not be destroyed by conventional means. In these ancient temple ruins forgotten by all things, the shattered and decayed divine being, the echoes of the Otherworld’s past, and the entire space seemed to form some kind of complete "cycle," everything endlessly reincarnating, just like...
Restless souls unwilling to die, yet having no homeland to return to.
Yu Sheng and his companions retreated to a high platform at the edge of the mountaintop, relying on layers of Fox Fire to form a blockade, barely gaining a foothold.
One twisted doorway after another opened on the platform, one mass-produced puppet after another walked out of the Twisted Gate, firing dense "Erin’s Beams" at the writhing shadows below, shadows thick as mud flooded in like waves, countless indescribable distorted entities crawled out from the shadows, constantly being shot down, but new entities constantly broke through the puppets’ blockade, even charging towards the platform under the terrifying flames of Fox Fire.
Distorted creatures wrapped in fire and smoke rushed up, the stone ground of the platform was eroded with a hissing sound. Yu Sheng fought hard to repel those enemies closest to him, each time he knocked down a shadow, he would again feel that bizarre "void" sensation.
He wanted to try using his blood to establish a connection with the "shadow tide" below the platform and attempt to use it as a springboard to communicate with the "Divine Corpse" at the temple center, but no matter how he tried, he couldn’t sense anything.
Everything was empty—extreme emptiness, extreme void, the shadows lacked purpose, the rotting God lacked self-awareness, the Alien God shattered three thousand seven hundred years ago, its essence long fused with the ancient puppet known as Erin, what remained...was not enough to become a bearer of "death."
Yu Sheng vaguely realized that it was something even more incomplete than the "Dark Angels" he had dealt with—extremely incomplete, yet somehow making it an unlikely target for choice.
But the more it was like this, the more Yu Sheng felt something was amiss.
The World Bridge was extending towards the Boundary Land, the Broken Tower was continuously self-repairing, this process was filled with an air of "persistence"... If the former Omen Goddess had been fused with the ancient puppet "Erin," and what remained inside the temple ruins was merely an empty shadow, then what was now driving the World Bridge to operate?
A slight heat emanated from near his body, and Yu Sheng paused momentarily, immediately reaching into his chest to retrieve an object.
It was a cubic piece, smaller than a palm, resembling jade—it was the "core" that fell out when Zolda Black Stone shattered.
Holding this unassuming black cubic piece, Yu Sheng’s mind repeatedly recalled the memories of the Omen Goddess he saw from the "illusory bear" before—
Born during the end-of-the-world phase, the Otherworld civilization failed to complete its Sanctuary plan due to insufficient cosmic mass, swallowed by annihilating red light...
After the apocalypse, that civilization’s story ended.
...but the Omen Goddess’s story seemed not yet finished!
The World Bridge wasn’t built by the "Omen People," and the Omen Goddess’s "Descent" at the Boundary Land clearly happened after her homeland world had been destroyed, so...from the destruction of the Omen Goddess’s homeland to her attempts at descending at the Boundary Land three thousand seven hundred years ago, there was a period of "blank"!
How did the World Bridge come to be?
From existing intelligence, the whole "Descent" plan and the birth of the World Bridge itself more likely relate to other Dark Angels, perhaps...like something brewed up by the "group" of Dark Angels!
Yu Sheng instinctively tightened his grip on the cubic core made of unknown material, until the sharp edges of the cube pierced his palm, warm blood slowly penetrated its jade-like surface.
With a sharp whistle tearing the sky once again, Hu Li fired another round of "Fox Radish Missiles" towards the distance. The propelled fox tails soared over the thick and writhing shadows, repeatedly bombarding the temple ruins at its center on the corpse mountain.
Explosion roared, blue flames spurted, the impact briefly stalled the surging tide, rising Fox Fire spread along the temple plaza.
The massive corpse swayed slightly amidst the shockwave, as if the shadow-made mountain’s surface oscillated in ripples, after repeated impacts, its internal "operation" seemed to finally show a slight delay, with the tightly covered outer layer torn open at a small fissure.
Hu Li was busy releasing the next wave of tails when she suddenly froze, and immediately jumped up, waving her hand and shouting loudly: "Savior! Savior! There’s something! There’s something in there!"
Yu Sheng immediately looked towards the direction Hu Li pointed, instantly seeing a small-scale "collapse" on the surface of the corpse, shadow pieces peeled off like mud disintegrating, revealing an empty shell layer, while inside...was a slowly operating large-scale ancient machinery.
The temperature from the cube increased slightly again, and the information transmitted after the blood penetration finally turned a bit clearer from the buzzing noise. Yu Sheng stared at the thing buried in the Divine Corpse remnants, suddenly feeling a jolt in his heart.
"Right, that’s it," he took a light breath, muttering softly, "Two...there are two!"
"Ah? What?" Erin sat on his shoulder, clumsily directing the mass-produced puppet army on the scene while loudly asking, "What things are two?!"
"Dark Angels! Two!" Yu Sheng slapped his thigh, fully realizing, "World Bridge—it’s in essence also a Dark Angel! Back in the day, ’Erin’ indeed solved the Omen Goddess’s issue—but she didn’t foresee the World Bridge was alive too!"
Upon hearing this, Erin’s expression froze for a moment, then she shouted: "What the hell?!"
"The World Bridge is only broken, not destroyed—the Omen Goddess stopped functioning after merging with Erin, but the World Bridge hasn’t shut down in these 3,700 years!" Yu Sheng had sorted out his thoughts by now, his mind racing while constantly reading the information coming from the cube, "This ’Cross-border Mechanism’ doesn’t understand why its partner suddenly stopped ’running,’ so it keeps trying to revive the dead Omen Goddess..."
"Oh, my..." The little puppet wanted to utter a colorful remark, but the situation was so overwhelming that she couldn’t even curse, just staring wide-eyed at Yu Sheng, "Then, what do we do?"
"Not sure, but I think the best way is for me to go over there and take a look," Yu Sheng raised a finger pointing to the center of the temple ruins, "That thing should be some kind of control mechanism for the World Bridge, and it’s been stuck there since the bridge broke, maybe I can find a way to shut it down."
"Doesn’t sound very reliable," Erin said while casually climbing down from Yu Sheng’s shoulder, "But then again, your usual ideas don’t sound very reliable either... In the end, everything relies on cheap life and determination to plow through."
Yu Sheng was ready to charge forward, but couldn’t resist responding to the little one’s blunt criticism: "Come on, at least say something supportive at a time like this."
Erin looked up, blinking, then hesitated for a moment before waving her tiny fist: "Then, good luck?"
Yu Sheng waved his hand and turned to look at Hu Li.
Before he could speak, a fluffy big tail floated in front of him.
"Savior, the tail is ready."
"... Gotta say, that sounds a bit weird," Yu Sheng muttered, yet he jumped onto the tail without hesitation, then thought for a moment and added seriously, "You have to make sure to get me there alive this time—falling midway into those shadows would waste the opportunity."
The demon fox girl frowned, apparently finding this a challenging task.
So she released her remaining seven tails, arranging them around Yu Sheng to form an escort formation.
Still, she felt it wasn’t enough.
After pondering with a frown, she turned and rummaged in her remaining storage tail.
Then, two streaks of flowing light, vibrant with celestial energy, sprang forth from her tail—flying circles in mid-air and emitting a clear call while sprinkling light as they flew.
Simply put, they were circling and crowing...
"Oh my, White Cut and Salt Roasted—" Yu Sheng looked up, stunned, "Were these two chickens trained by you to be even more ridiculous than before?!"
"Savior, White Cut and Salt Roasted can surely protect you," Hu Li looked at Yu Sheng with seriousness, "Under my meticulous guidance, their prowess now rivals that of Xuan Che."
Yu Sheng was taken aback for a moment: "... Best not let Xuan Che know that."
"Yep, yep."
"Alright, I’m heading out," Yu Sheng took a deep breath, waved from atop the fox tail, "You all stay here, if I don’t succeed, retreat immediately—Boundary Land can hold out for a bit longer, and you can think of another plan."
"Got it, Savior!" "Yeah, that’s right." "Hey, go quickly!"
The propulsion flame ignited with a roar, the whistling wind struck, only to be blocked by the protective spirit qi surrounding the fox tails.
Yu Sheng rode the fox tail, charging straight to the mountainous corpse in the temple ruins center.
The battle on the ground raged on, eruptions of fox fire blasting and the heatwaves of roaring flames surging, Erin’s beam tearing bright, scorching rifts in the sticky shadows, Luna’s figure flickered around the high platform, continuously slaying approaching shadows, safeguarding Hu Li and the puppets on the platform.
Amidst the rapid flight through the sky, Yu Sheng was surrounded by an escort formation of seven fox tails, and the two spirit realm perfection chickens flew around him, circling and crowing...
Erin stood on the high platform, looking up at the scene, and after a long time, sighed deeply: "This is so damn bizarre."
Hu Li nodded vigorously.
Luna’s figure twirled like the wind, landing back on the platform for a moment, nodding: "Mm, agree."
Then dashed out again.
