Dimensional Hotel-Chapter 531: Mismatched Frequency Dimension
...Is this the Black Dot Group’s research facility?
Standing in the dimly lit and eerie atmosphere of the space station corridor, Yu Sheng was stunned for a couple of seconds, looking up at the intersecting black spider silk that seemed to run through the entire facility.
"...Pretty hardcore," he couldn’t help but mutter to himself under his breath.
Well, to say the least, it’s true to the reputation of the universe-renowned extreme academics. Even though it’s evident that the Omen Goddess is lurking in their research facility, they seem unfazed—as mere spider silk in front of him here is enough to keep Erin busy weaving for half an hour, yet those Algredians are still enthusiastically messing around with stones in the laboratory, they are so carefree it could put two Hu Lis at ease...
Especially Hu Li in winter, when she’s fluffier.
With these bizarre thoughts swirling in his mind, Yu Sheng began cautiously walking forward along the corridor, attempting to use the blood traces he had left behind earlier to pinpoint the direction toward the circular laboratory.
After walking for a while, he finally began to feel something was amiss.
Quiet, too quiet, there wasn’t a soul on the road—not even any other human presence that he could sense.
Yu Sheng stopped at an intersection, cautiously looked around, but saw only dim lighting, an empty and quiet corridor, and spider silk running through the space station—though there was no lack of lighting facilities, for some reason, all the lights in the corridor seemed shrouded in a grayish-black veil, making everything appear as if seen through a curtain.
If only one or two areas were like this, it would still be understandable, but the environment seen all along the way was like this, then... it seemed not like ordinary "pollution" anymore.
And such a large facility, how could there not be a single person?
Yu Sheng frowned, he had come all the way openly, without the intention to hide his tracks, and it was impossible for a facility like this not to have a security system, normally there should have been someone coming by now.
According to his original plan, he intended to put the Black Spot Soldiers here through the grinder, helping them meet an even demise throughout the facility, yet he encountered a problem right at the first step of this plan...
After stopping, subtle changes in the surrounding environment began to become clear in his perception, as if there was a hollow and weak whistling sound coming from a distant place, and in the void, it felt as though there were eyes cast upon him.
Yu Sheng suddenly raised his head and saw a small device on the ceiling corner of the corridor—it was possibly some kind of surveillance equipment, which he had seen more than once on his way.
The slender slit on the front of the small device resembled an elongated eye, with a dim scarlet light flickering inside.
"Erin," Yu Sheng tentatively called out in his heart.
He received no response.
After several unanswered calls, Yu Sheng let out a soft sigh, and attempted to reach out to the air beside him, trying to open a "door."
A phantom door appeared silently, but after it opened, what lay beyond wasn’t the anticipated destination—a chaotic and distorted play of light and shadow covered the other side, like an incorrectly projected shadow.
A faint sense of danger rose from his heart, and Yu Sheng immediately closed the door.
This situation felt familiar.
He quickly recalled, finally remembering the last time a teleportation gate had this type of projection error—when he and the old handsome guy went to check the room at the end of the second floor. At that time, he entered a place suspected to be the Omen Goddess’s temple through a "mirror," and there, the "door" he opened exhibited a similar loss of control phenomenon...
Yu Sheng’s senses suddenly tensed, and he quickly pondered what was happening now.
This must be the Black Dot Group’s research facility, yet the surrounding environment clearly didn’t resemble the real dimension—was it because the power of the Omen Goddess ruled over this place and transformed it into some kind of "projection space"? Or did those Black Dot scientists really research something shady and black-tech from the "Zolda Black Stone," creating such a "prison"?
Based on last time’s experience, Erin might sense his "soul anomaly" and then try to drag him out... but who knows how far this research facility is from the Boundary Land, and whether Erin’s power would suffice...
Various chaotic thoughts ran through Yu Sheng’s mind, but he didn’t pause in place. He soon had a general target, and then chose a branch at the crossroads, continuing to delve into the corridor’s depths.
No matter what, the "Zolda Black Stone" placed in the circular laboratory is definitely the core here, though he didn’t know what that stone would be like in this bizarre space, but in any case... he must first find that laboratory.
Somehow, Yu Sheng was still able to sense the "blood traces" he had left earlier—though theoretically, those traces were left in reality, a kind of vague guidance was still effective in this eerie space.
They seemed to emit a scarlet glow in the dim corridor, outlining a trajectory between life and death among the black spider silk symbolizing the end.
Yu Sheng had no idea how far he’d walked, as the monotonous repetitive scenery and extremely silent environment quickly made him lose track of time and direction, but he could feel himself gradually approaching the core of the entire facility.
The surrounding spider silk gradually took on a regular pattern, distantly pointing towards some direction.
But just then, two vague black shadows suddenly appeared in his view, causing Yu Sheng to halt abruptly.
Humans?
No... it’s the shadows.
Yu Sheng took a gentle breath, watching the two human silhouettes leisurely walk towards him from afar, brushing past his body—judging from the outlines, they should be two fully armed Black Spot Group soldiers.
After calming himself down, Yu Sheng continued to walk forward.
More flickering shadows appeared in the corridors and cabins ahead, some resembling technical personnel, others looking like armed figures.
They appeared out of thin air, as if entirely unaware of Yu Sheng’s presence, carrying out their tasks before slowly disappearing again into the air.
Yu Sheng also saw another type of shadow, possibly people from this research facility—yet they were trapped in those pitch-black webs.
The unsettling dark shadows were ensnared by the webs, hanging on walls or ceilings, showing no signs of struggle, instead quietly staying inside black silk cocoons like they were asleep, occasionally wriggling slightly, emitting whispers akin to dream murmurs.
Yu Sheng gingerly walked through a cabin filled with numerous cabinet devices, seeing over a dozen of these "sleepers" hanging by webs from the ceiling, swaying like wind chimes in the air, producing indistinct murmuring sounds.
...Are these Algredians within this research facility? Are these people still alive in the real world? Or have they already been swallowed by this mutated space station?
Yu Sheng frowned, cautiously avoiding the shadowy figures caught by the webs, and continued towards the next area.
He felt himself getting closer to his destination, while vaguely perceiving that the dimensional boundaries seemed to become increasingly blurred as he approached Zolda Black Stone.
He began to see more frequently the shadows seemingly projected from the real dimension, hearing the voices of people conversing in the real world, sometimes even catching glimpses of normal lighting shining down from the real world, like light spots passing through the cracks in the curtains, occasionally illuminating a small area around him.
These changes seemed like good news—Yu Sheng internally breathed a slight sigh of relief.
Right then, a small figure suddenly entered his view.
It was a puppet clad in a black dress, crouching near a gate, focused and intent on doing something.
Yu Sheng’s heart stirred upon seeing the figure, quickly walked towards it, but cautiously slowed his steps as he got closer, breaking the silence from a short distance: "Erin?"
The small puppet remained crouched, as if not hearing the voice coming from beside it.
Yu Sheng carefully stepped two more steps closer, looking down at what the puppet was busy with.
"Erin" was holding a pencil, writing and drawing in a notebook that looked too large for her.
The notebook was filled with dazzling symbols and equations, the unrecognizable text was like a chaotic noise, jostling within Yu Sheng’s vision as if trying to escape from the notebook.
Yu Sheng swallowed hard, the extremely strange scene made him wary (the main oddity being Erin actually calculating something): "What are you...doing?"
"The end of the world is near."
The small puppet suddenly spoke.
It did sound like Erin’s voice, but an indistinct, unfamiliar tone mixed in.
"The end of the world?" Yu Sheng felt a jolt in his heart, while remaining vigilant, he quickly organized his words, "Is it...’Omen,’ right?"
"That’s the name ’they’ gave me," the small puppet said slowly, seeming not to care where Yu Sheng came from, her whole demeanor akin to sleepwalking, "They were very fearful, fearing from the first moment they gazed upon the stars, so they named me this... They thought fear had sources and shapes, thus they fashioned such an object of awe and worship..."
Yu Sheng struggled to comprehend the puppet’s words, squatting beside her, looking at the notebook’s contents.
"You mean, a group of people, because of their fear of the apocalypse, created an object of worship for themselves, and then this ’object of worship’ was born? That’s your origin?"
The puppet did not answer, only kept focusing on her sketching.
Yu Sheng remembered Anka Aela, remembered the Inference Star Body—even in the last moment of falling, deep within that ancient shattered memory of the Dark Angel, there was still the immense and despairing shadow reflected at the end of all things.
"What do these equations...mean?" he asked seriously.
The small puppet finally paused for a moment.
She raised her head, Yu Sheng could not make out her features shrouded in the black mist, but could see a pair of crimson eyes.
"The ultimate solution of the universe—as soon as it’s calculated, the Sanctuary can be activated."
