Chapter 93: 93:Ellen’s Squatting

"Ellen."

"Yes?"

"...why are you in my bed?"

"Because I live here?"

What a perfectly natural response—if not for the fact that this was Raymond’s apartment (technically the academy’s).

Raymond should have realized something was wrong when he first opened the door to his place. He had expected it to be the exact same. Maybe a little dusty, but seeing it still squeaky clean. He had thought that the academy had cleaned it up for him.

Walking past the living room and towards the kitchen, he couldn’t help but notice that the kitchen and dining room looked used. Lived in, something he had simply brushed off as when he lived here in the past.

Why didn’t his perfect memory catch that everything was slightly different? Mainly because it was more of a conscious act rather then a passive one. He had to actively search through to recall something.

It was only when he finally entered his bedroom, with the sounds of the TV still on—that something finally ticked him off.

Sure enough, he was greeted by the view of a certain somebody lying down on his bed. Watching his tv. With his blanket. In his room.

"Ellen. This is my apartment though? You live on the floor below me."

"Ahem. I thought it would be a waste, it was vacant...and it’s so much better then mine!"

Because Raymond spent some of his points to improve his apartment. Most first years were still scrambling for points, doing their best on every assignment or project given by the teachers. It was only when they became third years—able to undergo missions that they finally managed to earn a stable source of academy points.

In contrast, Raymond could just breathe and earn 7500 points a month. How unfortunate, you could work as hard as you wanted. But being born with a silver spoon trumped all of that.

"So. While I was in a coma. You decided to move into my apartment."

"You weren’t using it."

"..."

He could feel a headache coming in already. But that was a fair point honestly.

"Then, can you get out of my bed now?"

"Why should I?"

"Because it’s mine?"

"No thanks."

Ellen gave him a teasing look, patting the other half of the bed that was unoccupied with her hand.

"If you want. You can join me~"

Raymond mentally weight the pros and cons in his head.

pros: He got to sleep on his own bed—that he paid precious points for.

cons: Sleep in the same bed as Ellen.

"Move aside."

"Eh?"

Not waiting for Ellen, he climbed onto the bed. Pulling away his blanket from her and covering himself, a pillow in his arms as he got comfortable. Ignoring her several squeaks of embarrassment.

"Y-y-you actually?!"

Ellen felt her own face heat up. The nonsensical scenario only now registering in her head.

But what bothered her the most, was how nonchalant Raymond was about this!

’Hey! How come you don’t seem to be bothered by this?!’

She mentally slandered herself for that offer. But it was too late already. What was done was done.

Ellen sighed, getting ready to stand up and leave. Only to immediately stop when she heard Raymond quietly mutter—the sound slightly muffled under the thick blankets.

"That’s what I thought."

There must have been magic in those words. Because Ellen immediately felt her own spite flare up within her. For just that moment, devil Ellen took over her body. Against her own better judgement, she bit the bullet and lay back down. Pulling the blanket back towards her. She refused to lose this time!

The two awkwardly maneuvered as they both got comfortable. A silence filling the air.

Raymond actually felt really surprised—internally, he made sure to keep his face as calm as possible as he attempted to fall asleep.

Keyword was attempted.

"Jonas...you. are. NOT. the father!"

Raymond’s gasp was louder then the collective gasp of the thousands of live spectators. This damn reality TV show was unbelievably interesting. With four people, all trying to win the hearts of one woman. Each having to compete in several minigames to win more time that they could spend to be with the woman.

Two entire episodes. Spent to build up her relationship with number one. Only for it to be revealed that she was pregnant with number four?!?

Raymond could feel a gaze boring deep into his soul coming from his right. Making him release a small cough.

"Ahem. This show is quite...entertaining."

Raymond closed his eyes and tried to fall asleep again. Only to immediately open them again when he heard the television get turned off.

"Why’d you turn it off?!"

She fired back, "Weren’t you going to sleep?"

"Ahem. You’re right."

The next morning was unbelievably awkward for the two of them. Despite the bed being big enough for Raymond to roll over five times, Ellen somehow took up at least three rolls worth of space.

But it was what she did next that really infuriated him.

"Raymond."

"...hm..?"

This she-devil. Woke him up.

He had just gotten out of a coma, and she was forcing him to attend classes. What the actual f-

"It’s time for class now."

"Five more minutes..."

She shook him again, causing him to release a groan as he got awoken from his sleep for the third time in a row now.

"I’m skipping today..."

"No you’re not. Now get up already or we’re going to be late."

"I can just teleport us...you don’t need to walk anymore..."

Ellen had forgotten that. Raymond knew how to teleport them. So they didn’t need to spend some fifteen minutes just to walk to the classes. Or having to walk all the way to the academy cafeteria.

"You still need to wake up early. "

"Mhmmmmnnn..."

She shook him awake again.

"Ellen...just let me rest..."

He made his puppy face at her again. Attempting to pull on her heartstrings, unfortunately—she had hardened hers into stone. He had done it too often lately to the point she had developed a small resistance to it.

"You already missed out on a lot of class."

In the end, he got dragged out of bed by Ellen. Despite his hands desperately trying to hold onto the bed frame, his meagre just-woke-up strength was nothing in comparison to Ellen’s. Like a pet owner dragging their dog away on a leash, Raymond could do nothing to resist.

Groggily searching through the wall in closet. Raymond frowned, his own clothes were all pushed into a corner. While Ellen’s took up the majority.

Finding his uniform, he lazily took off his shirt and put it on. Once he was done, he turned back. Finding Ellen staring at him.

She asked, "You have a tattoo?"

Right, this was probably the first time she had seen it.

He nodded, "Yep, It’s a mark left behind by a good friend of mine."

Raymond smiled fondly as he reminisced on the past. He hadn’t talked to the World Tree in a while. But since the Elven Realm existed here, she was definitely there as well. He made a mental note to go visit her sometime soon, he hadn’t talked with any of the other system users in a while. 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦

Her eyes turned soft, quietly apologizing. "I see...I’m sorry for asking."

Raymond didn’t hear that last part, still busy trying to make his crumpled uniform look good. Before giving up and deciding to use magic to iron it out. The wrinkled clothes appearing as if it had just been freshly ironed and straightened out. Thus, he was unable to correct Ellen’s misunderstanding.

Unbeknownst to what he had just caused. He proceeded to also clean himself up using magic—styling his hair, brushing his teeth and shower all at the same time.

After a quick breakfast, Raymond teleported the two of them to their first class of the day.

There weren’t many people around, likely since there was still half an hour before class started. But Raymond definitely felt several stares from the few that were diligent enough to show up early.

Raymond looked around the auditorium style hall for a bit. Since they were now in their second years, they had different locations for their classes and a completely different timetable. But their teachers were still the same. That would only change in their third year—unless the course you took also had the same teacher.

It felt a bit weird, Raymond was now the senior for some four hundred something juniors. While the fifth year students had graduated, with only a few staying to continue their studies further.

He mentally went through any notable juniors, but as far as he could remember. There weren’t any particularly noteworthy. Heck, there weren’t even any students who got into the special class.

Whereas they had a total of nine in the special class! A record for the academy considering there was usually none or 2-3 maximum.

Just then, he felt a particularly intense gaze on him.

His eyes met her purple ones. Her more eastern features made her stand out compared to everyone else in the class. With smooth black hair that was cut short, falling just above the shoulders. 1
