Descending Into A Novel-Chapter 43:Convergence of Realms
Raymond awoke to find his body sore all over, kicking off his robes he had used as a blanket. He groaned as he got up. The box he used for a pillow crushed under him.
Seeing the outside sky still dark, Raymond knew it was still too early for class to start. Yet he had woken up anyways.
Cautiously running his senses through his body, he sighed. He still had trace amounts of mana burn, he shouldn’t have been surprised by it but he really wanted it to surprise him.
He really wanted to go brush his teeth right now, and a shower. He also really wanted to eat something since he had skipped dinner yesterday.
Fighting the urge to throw up, he summoned his staff. Leaning on it for support as he tried to function like a normal person.
Which was a bit hard when you were on only a few hours of sleep, with a sore body, empty stomach, nausea and just all around bad things.
After several minutes, when Raymond decided that he was okay enough. He gritted his teeth as he channeled his dimension-attuned mana from his core, casting a basic teleport spell.
The uncomfortable burning feeling ran through his body as it left his core. Rushing through his veins and arteries like a stream of fire.
Collapsing onto the ground, Raymond weakly opened his eyes and found himself on the floor of the lobby in the special class dorms.
He had been aiming to teleport into his apartment but he supposed this was fine as well. 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮
Quietly recovering on the ground first, he forced himself to stand up again. Entering the elevator and pushing the button for his floor. His legs threatening to give out on him as he stood.
The elevator ride felt arduous, when he finally entered his apartment again. He hobbled over to his bedroom before collapsing on his bed.
He had wanted to take a shower and brush his teeth first but honestly, he just wanted to sleep more.

"Good morning class! I hope you all ate a good breakfast just now because you’re going to need that energy today. Since we finished a very quick rundown on the history before the Convergence of Realms, today I am going to start on the history after the Convergence of Realms."
His teacher spoke with too much enthusiasm, the kind that expected you to also follow along and be as excited as him over boring history.
"Well first of all, I’m sure you all know but the Convergence of Realms or also known as Day of Clashing. Is the event which introduced mana, monsters and the other realms on Terra. While we are unsure of the exact date it started, our first recorded mention was of June 11, 1771. Marking the next year as the three hundredth anniversary of the Convergence of Realms."
A realm was essentially a mini dimension, the entire universe that Terra was in previously was a realm, the demonic realm, the heavenly realm were all mini dimensions located within the larger dimension. With Raymond’s travelling focusing on crossing between these larger dimensions.
"The Convergence of Realms did much more then just introduce mana, although that is the biggest change. As the name implies, the realm we live in—that being our universe and other realms converged together. Clashing into one singular realm now."
"yes, the planet we live on. Terra, previously was a regular planet with no mana! Our universe was completely ordinary before this event! Can you believe it guys? Imagine trying to live without mana!"
Raymond was desperately trying to listen, he really was. But when he already knew about everything and felt extremely sick, it was hard to muster up the energy required.
"The Convergence of Realms caused each of the realms to fuse into one new singular larger realm, it is unknown why this event happened in the first place but the best guesses was that they simply grew too large and were attracted to each other. Similar to how gravity works."
"Our realm has now been fused with the demonic realm, the heavenly realm, the elven realm, the dwarven realm, the merfolk realm and many many more! Previously none of these realms had even been in contact with each other! We didn’t even know they existed! But now its even possible to travel between realms!"
Raymond suddenly perked up slightly, the elven realm?
If there were elves then that meant she was definitely there as well.
One of the four users of the system that he knew of.
Raymond mentally added to his list to visit the elven realm sometime.
"Although our realms have fused, its not a true fuse as you might think it is. Actual travel between them can be a bit difficult. The elven realm is notorious for only being accessible if given permission to by the elves, the demonic and heavenly realm is nearly impossible to enter—with only demons and angels being able to enter and leave at will. And the dragons are famous for killing anybody who dares to intrude into their realm."
Well, that confirmed it. They were the same old elves that Raymond knew. Elves were extremely picky about who they let in, looking down on most other races and viewing themselves as the superior race.
"In contrast however, the dwarven realm and merfolk realm are the easiest to enter by far. Humanity has a very good relationship with the dwarves and merfolk, allowing for easy entry as long as you have the necessary requirements."
"Due to the hundreds, if not thousands of realms fusing together. Every single realm underwent massive changes. For us, the most notable is of course the introduction of mana. But the Convergence also brought along with it billions of new types of wildlife! It changed everything that we knew about science! It changed the very geology of not just Terra but the very universe!"
He seemed to have deflated a little bit after his excited outburst, coughing to clear his throat. He continued with his explanation, his face turning somber.
"Ahem, but the Convergence also brought with it war. When the convergence first occurred, chaos erupted. All of a sudden, we were in a brand new world. With brand new things and brand new people. War erupted between the races, fighting over territory and resources from each other. Even now, countless demons still remain within our realm. Strengthening themselves on the demonic continent."
Raymond honestly found it a bit embarrassing, out of all the races. Humans were definitely one of the weakest. Despite it being their realm, countless demons and other races still resided within. pushing humanity further and further away. All within their own territory!
They were giving humanity a bad rep! Back in Raymond’s home dimension, humans were the top dogs but here? They were amongst the weakest!
Well, they had been introduced to mana only recently so he supposed it wasn’t entirely their fault.
How sad for humanity, it was like if your neighbourhood suddenly gained hundreds of new extremely violent people.
They will rob you! Take your money and your food! Then they will break into your houses and...
Raymond suddenly remembered a scene from the news back when he was on Earth.
’...no way right?’
"Raymond, are you sure you don’t need some rest? You’ve been dozing off and I can see that you have eye bags."
He was snapped out of it by Ellen, noticing he looked even more tired then usual.
"Just a bit tired is all, I wanna attend each of the special class lessons at least once so that’s why I’m even here today."
"Today’s special class is Special Class Fighting Skills. Are you sure you’re gonna be okay?"
"Well, maybe he won’t make us spar or anything. Maybe he’ll just do something else for once!"
***
"Split into pairs and start sparring each other!"
Wasn’t it Special Class Fighting Skills? Why did they only ever spar each other?
More pressing was that they were an odd number!
He cautiously raised a hand, he wasn’t as familiar with teacher Venkyl Forsan but he probably wasn’t like their teacher for the basic fighting skills class right?
"Teacher, we have an odd number here."
"Hmmm, you’re right. Give me a moment then."
Venkyl pulled out a phone from the inside of his jacket. Dialing a number.
"Hey Quinn...hey yeah...teaching...class...now right? Any troublemakers in your class?"
Raymond only caught a few brief words but he heard that last sentence well enough.
"I need someone... Yeah special class students... It’s for sparring...you do? Send them over then!"
Wow, who was the poor bastard that was being sent over. Raymond mentally said a few words of prayer for them.
Actually, the teacher said biggest troublemaker so maybe they deserved it?
He took his prayers back first, better safe then sorry.
"Alright you’re all in your pairs right? Who’s the lonely one?"
It was unfortunately Audrina. Thomas and Noelle had paired up, with Raymond and Ellen naturally pairing up as well.
"Alright well I asked for a class A kid to come. He won’t be as good as your other classmates here but he should be good enough."
In a moment of perfect timing, the door to their training hall opened. A guy with short messy blonde hair strolling in.
"Good afternoon Mr. Forsan! Teacher Quinn told me you were looking for help. What d’ya need me to do?"
Arthur Findsor.
Raymond should have realized it, class A? Troublemaker? There were a few but the first one to come to mind was definitely him!
"Well Audrina here needs a partner to spar with you see, get dressed and grab a weapon. I expect you to be ready in five minutes or less."
His easygoing smile quickly faded from his face. Replaced by a look of dread as he stared at Audrina.
