Demon Tamer's Ascension-Chapter 29: Unmistakable Twist 2
There was no doubt it was her, but Alex needed confirmation.
"Adoff, come back," Alex whispered. "It’s not working..."

Now it was obvious that he would have to defeat the women in front of him first.
"Cassie..." Alex nervously sneered, "What has gotten into you?" He stared at her, gripping tightly onto his [Abyss Blade], "Has somebody taken control over your body?"
She stood right in front of him, and a table lamp flickered on and off until it finally shed the fewest bits of light across the middle section that remained between Alex and the women who stood before him.
It was definitely her. The same look. And for some reason, she dropped her metal sword.
"What could you possibly mean?" She spun her head sideways, "Do you still not understand your current situation? You found out about something you shouldn’t have, now I have to kill you. It’s as simple as that."
Alex cut through the air, getting a good feel for his weapon, "Oh, is that so?"
"Why?" Her tone shifted, "Wanted to hear my cutesy version instead?" She sounded exactly the same as how former Cassie sounded, " How about now? Do you like it better?"
"Actually..." Alex raised his weapon, aligning it with his chest, "I don’t really know how to say this, but um..."
A large pause filled the room, and Cassie watched over him menacingly, not blinking even once.
"Ah, fine, I’ll just come out and say it," Alex bitterly sighed, he forced out a grin, "You just are... You were just never really my type to begin with."
Cassie’s teeth jittered with one another, almost like she was actually angered by Alex’s words. Then, a small creature on her left, lavished in white fur, crawled up to her side.
"Luna..." Her gaze remained on Alex, while her C-Rank white fox beast appeared, growling and hissing at him, "Interlock."
’I need to get to Adoff quickly,’ Alex thought, ’But first, I can start by giving him a boost, hoping that there won’t be any interference.’
A bright white light poured across Luna and Cassie’s bodies, which soon bound them together.
Alex widened his gaze; the light in the kitchen at the back remained, "Manifest."

Beneath that bright light that poured across both of their bodies, Cassie looked back, ’Why did I just sense an influx of demonic energy back there?’ She wondered, ’I need to go and check it out, she might not be safe...’
Alex didn’t wait for that light to vanish, and he commenced, his first move being swift and sharp. Cold Demonic energy radiated off of the [Abyss Blade] as he rushed forward.
Cassie and Luna vanished, but one person still stood there. No, it wasn’t that either one of them vanished, that was now obvious.
Rather, they became one being, mana poured across her body, large amounts of it. That individual took on Cassie’s mind but held some of Luna’s features, just like the fox she is.
Alex had only ever heard of this type of occurrence happening in short stories of top-rankers. To resonate both your core with your tamed beast’s core, you must have both of your energies, in this case, mana, to merge into a single, united flow.
To do this, your mana core must reach the same rank as your beast’s core. In this case, that would mean Cassie had already become a C-Ranker individually.
This would also mean she’s an Elite already, same as Alex. But, considering her beast is of a higher rank than Adoff, she’s possibly stronger than both of them now. This also meant one more thing...
Their bonds have almost reached their limits, and they cannot expand much further.
The light collapsed into Cassie, tightening until it snapped into place. She looked the same, but the tension in the room rose.
White streaks formed along her arms as fox ears rose from her head, a tail of flowing mana swaying behind Cassie. Her eyes dulled into a cold silver, still her... but no longer just her.
Cassie smiled. The interlock has finally been completed. But she was still curious to find out what was behind that door that caused the influx in energy levels.

Alex didn’t have any appraisal skills, but he was intelligent enough to realise what had just happened.
"Soul-resonance already?" Alex whispered, "Guess you’ve upgraded faster than me."
Alex moved first, his foot pressing into the ground as the wooden tile beneath him cracked from the force. His body surged forward immediately after, blade already cutting through the air in a sharp arc aimed cleanly for her upper body.
"Step back," She said, "I need to leave."
Cassie didn’t listen, nor did she brace herself. Instead, she shifted forward into his range with a level of precision that caught him off guard. Her hand shot out and caught his wrist mid-swing, stopping the blade completely as the impact sent a jolt up his arm.
"I said, get out of my way!" She was anxious, protective of whoever it was back in the kitchen, afraid for their life.
Cassie drove her knee straight into his ribs. The hit landed clean, forcing the air out of his lungs as his body folded slightly from the impact. He hurtled back, hitting the wall across from Cassie, the impact echoing with a sharp creak.

"Use a healing potion," Alex whispered, catching his breath.

Alex’s wounds healed, and he had regenerated again. By the time this happened, Cassie was already on her way to the back.
She didn’t bother to battle with Alex any longer, but he didn’t let her escape.
"Quick-Step."

In a matter of seconds, Alex stood in front of Cassie’s view again, moving around her with instantaneous speed.
"It’s crazy how two-faced some girls can really be."
