Chapter 59: Chapter 59: Wendigo

Sam and Sanchez left Adrain sitting there, they went to where he lost the scent of the couple.

The hell hound whimpered as soon as they got there. " What’s wrong girl." Sanchez asked with worry.

" It’s the scent, it’s probably her nose." He also closed his nose.

Sanchez could also smell something terrible in the air but she didn’t think it was that bad until she remembered these two had senses much stronger than hers.

Since Sam couldn’t use scent to track their target he followed the footsteps, the Wendigo was large and heavy.

It left heavy footsteps everywhere it went, tree branches broke when it brushed past them.

Most obviously were the dead plants, its scent was that terrible, it had transcended just smell and bothered on rot itself.

They followed the tracks and they led them to a cave on a hill. " If things like this had always existed, why haven’t we discovered them?"

Sanchez asked with confusion, she couldn’t understand how something that leaves such clear tracks haven’t been found by normal humans.

" They always get covered up, mysterious disappearances, unexplainable natural disasters.

You hear about those in the news all the time, the organisation controls the government and the media.

You’re a cop, you’ve probably come across cases you were told were out of your jurisdiction and you weren’t even allowed on the crime scene, who do you think has that authority?"

" How do you know all of that, aren’t you also new to this?" She asked.

" Meggie left notes on what we should look out for and the organisation was explained in extensive details in her notes, that how dangerous they are.

By the way, don’t let them know you know of the supernatural world, they’ll either wipe out your memories, lock you up or outright kill you."

She shivered, " They..they wouldn’t do that would they, they’re the government not savages."

Sam laughed, " Aren’t you a bit too old to be that naive? Stop."

They stopped Infront of the cave, the scent was much much stronger here. " It’s inside." He whispered.

He could hear its low growls, Fluffy reacted aggressively as her, she could also sense something in there.

Sanchez brushed her neck to calm her down and she sat down and waged her tail. " Lets go in."

Sam led them inside, Sanchez pulled out her gun, she was extremely nervous and so was Sam.

Unlike Adrain he didn’t read the book detailing types of monsters so he knew nothing about Wendigos.

The cave entrance was long, they felt like they had walked for hundreds of metres, which fog blocked their sights.

Of course Sam could see just fine after his turned grey, he had immediately taken his second form.

As an omega werewolf, this was the strongest form he can take freely, he can only go full wolf on a full moon and lose control as a result.

Fluffy also transformed into her true form, she grew to the size of a large horse with a burning tail, eyes and paws.

Her footprints left burning marks on the ground, she looked nothing like the cute doggy she was before.

Sanchez brushed her yellow fur and strangely the flames didn’t effect her, that was because hell hounds had perfect control over their flames.

After some time they came out to a large opening, it was an underground cave, bioluminescence moss covered the cave walls and lit up the cave with red light.

Sam couldn’t recognise this moss but he could feel esper energy inside it. Sanchez just thought it was pretty.

But her mind changed after what she saw, inside the cave were bodies, dozens of human bodies.

Some were hanging from the roof while others were stuck to the cave walls and what was holding them up was the moss.

It pulsed like a heartbeat around them and it was sucking their blood. Sanchez could see that these people were dead.

" He..lp." she heard a whisper, she turned and saw a the man they were searching for, moss was growing all over his skin.

Next to him was the girl but unlike the guy she wasn’t surrounded by moss but laying on floor unconscious.

" Take them." Sam whispered, " And run." His eyes were locked at the back of the cave.

There Sanchez saw a creature straight out of a nightmare, a head like of a twisted moose with sharp teeth.

Antlers they branched like tree branches, the red moss grew on those antlers giving them a sense of twisted beauty.

The creature looked skinny, it was sitting yet its body not counting the antlers was nearly three metres tall.

Its humanoid body was covered in greyish fur, it raised its head and looked at them with red eyes devoid of any emotions.

Its low growls reverberated across the cave and shook her heart with endless dread, even more than the one she held for Adrian.

After all Adrian was intelligent and could be reasoned with, all she saw in the eyes of this thing was hunger and endless violence.

A primal savagery that made her bones chill with the cold of old. She legs shook and she almost lost her footing.

She regretted not listening to Adrain and staying next to him. Then it stood up, its body towering nearly seven metres tall.

Its presence alone was too imposing, silver light covered Sam’s feet, this was the first time she saw him use his abilities.

She had seen Adrain but she had a feeling he wasn’t even serious back then but Sam looked serious.

A bit apprehensive in fact, " I told you to go.." he shouted, before she could move it moved first.

All she saw was a blur and the hundred metres distance was covered in a second, she couldn’t understand how something that large could move so fast.

Its giant hand pressed down on Sam, he raised his arms to block and the force sent him flying to wall like a blur.

Bang, stone shattered and his body was embedded there. His arms were broken and his head was bleeding.

She screamed thinking he was dead, she pointed her gun and fired multiple shot at the creature.

Her bullets simply bounced off its body, it turned its head towards her then slapped down.

The wind hit her first and she closed her eyes and waited for death, she deeply regretted not listening.

She heard a bark and the temperature spiked then BOOOOM.
