Chapter 112: Chapter 112: Altar in the Forest

Henrik’s actions seemed casual, but the bullets he fired consecutively formed a net that sealed off an entire space.

Then, a muffled groan came from not far away. The air dispersed like mist and the Prophet staggered into view from another location.

Meanwhile, her original running figure disappeared without a trace.

“Such a strange ability!”

For Henrik, the Prophet’s ability was a significant limitation. Although his first shot missed, he quickly adjusted his aim following the sound of footsteps.

Even though it was just a rough estimate of the area, one of his shots grazed the Prophet’s shoulder.

A large patch of fresh blood seeped out, staining the front of her shirt red.

“Hand over the girl, or the next bullet will hit your head!”

Henrik still remembered the admonitions before setting out, to try not to escalate the situation to an irreparable level.

But what answered him was the Prophet’s cold snort, “Kill them all!”

“Kill them all!”

As the command was given, a group of armed black men surged around them. This time, they didn’t even consider the risk of friendly fire and started shooting indiscriminately into the area!

Ratatat!

Bang bang bang!

No matter how fast Henrik was, he couldn’t instantly kill more than a dozen people. His face turned extremely ugly as he dashed for nearby cover, shouting as he went.

“Ertuya, have you lost your mind?”

“Kill us and the Hunters Guild won’t let you off. Even if you seek refuge with the Voodoo Queen in Bordeaux City, it will be meaningless!”

Only a moment to catch his breath, the Prophet vanished from sight again. However, this time she didn’t fall for Henrik’s trick.

If she dared to speak, the next second Henrik would blow her head off following the sound of her voice!

Roger dashed ahead the fastest, dispatching a black man with a single slash, but before he could surge forward again, a large group of gun-toting burly men emerged around him.

Cursing under his breath, Roger turned and crouched behind the burly black man, dragging the man’s body in front of him as a shield while he jumped back behind the car.

He carefully opened the car door and took the Steel Sword from the seat.

At that moment, the Prophet’s voice came from a distance.

“Thinking of punishing me? Let’s see if you can make it out alive first!”

Bullets rattled around the car, pinning Roger down so he couldn’t raise his head. He could only shout loudly, “Henrik!”

What was supposed to be a negotiation had turned into a senseless gunfight, and Henrik was infuriated. If not for the pressure from the upper echelons of the Hunters Guild, he would have had the chance to capture the Prophet earlier.

Bang bang bang!

Amidst the intense shooting, Henrik’s gunshots rang out rhythmically, each one claiming a life. His marksmanship was frighteningly precise, seeming not to require aiming at all, with each gunshot followed by someone falling.

With the pressure greatly reduced, Roger also pulled out his Flying Dagger that he always carried.

Whoosh whoosh!

Soon, they cleared the surrounding gunmen, and Peter had somehow reappeared from somewhere.

“You sure got away fast,” Henrik remarked with a sneer.

Peter nodded, “Teacher said that an excellent Exorcist should know when to join the battlefield.”

This time, Henrik didn’t argue with him. “The next move is up to you.”

The Prophet’s witchcraft had caused him great disturbance; for a marksman, precision was as crucial as life itself.

“They must have gone to that ceremonial site in the forest. I have been there before and still have some recollection of it.”

Roger pointed toward the swamp at the far end of the gathering place.

“Let’s go!”

“This woman must have some plan, doing such a thing, the Hunters Guild won’t let her off, but since she knows the consequences, she still chooses to do it.”

“That can only mean that what she is about to do is very important, important enough that she’s willing to risk being surrounded and attacked!”

Roger rushed into the woods first; that night, he had arrived there accidentally while being dragged by the Water Ghosts. Although he knew the approximate direction, finding it was still somewhat difficult.

But soon, Roger noticed some clues, disordered footsteps, the fresh blood dripping from the Prophet’s wound.

After using the Spirit Communication Water for several days and continuously meditating, his spiritual power had increased a lot, and his perception had become much sharper.

In a highly focused state, the redundant surroundings seemed to be peeled away, and a faint trail appeared before him, leading deep into the swamp.

The direction was completely consistent with the place he had been to before!

“Follow me!”

Roger concentrated, trying hard to maintain this state, and didn’t even notice the faint glow emanating from the Hunter’s Cabin in his mind, nor the prompt that appeared on the notice board.

“Hunter Vision activated.”

Meanwhile, the Prophet and others finally arrived deep in the swamp after a frantic run.

“Mother, give her up, so many people died today, I’m afraid there will be…”

Betty said, somewhat frightened.

“Shut up!”

The Prophet harshly interrupted her. Henrik and the others’ arrival was completely unexpected. In the Prophet’s plan, after Betty brought Amanda back, she could complete the ritual.

Even though Henrik made harsh demands, she temporarily agreed, because she knew that once today passed, her ritual would be complete.

By then, there would naturally be no Array, and if they really pursued the matter, she had ways to cope.

But now…

“Damn it!”

A flash of annoyance crossed her face, followed by the Prophet seemingly having an idea.

“Take her inside, we’ll conduct the ritual!” the Prophet said to Betty and the other, pointing at Amanda.

“Mother…”

“Do as I say!”

“To arrange the entire ritual, I’ve spent countless efforts. If the ritual is ruined after today, you’ll never have another chance.”

“The terrain in the swamp is incredibly complex. Even if they know the exact location, they won’t be able to find this place quickly, let alone that they are a group of outsiders.”

“Don’t worry, relax your spirit.”

“By the time they find this place, our ritual will have long been over, and then we can leave this place together.”

“To start a whole new life!”

Reassured by the Prophet’s words, Betty’s emotions stabilized a lot. She hadn’t been in the Transcendent World for long, and the witchcraft she had just controlled was only barely managed.

After being dispelled by Peter, her spirit was reflected upon, and her emotions were naturally a bit unstable. After some time to buffer, her spirit calmed down, and she seemed to be in a much better state.

Betty and the one-armed woman carried Amanda into the house made of black stones.

The Prophet pulled a lever on the wall, and the entire stone house began to shake, the ground trembled, black rocks cracked open, and a rectangular stone altar slowly rose from the ground.

Numerous bizarre patterns were carved on the altar, each line as if soaked in blood, leaving behind black and red marks.

The Prophet glanced at Betty, her eyes conveying a sense of urgency, “Come on, let’s start the ritual!”
