Demon CEO's Hidden Love: Mr Grayson Stole Me From My Abusive Husband-Chapter 225: Don’t Tell Me You’re Here To Ask For A Dowry...
Chapter 225: Don’t Tell Me You’re Here To Ask For A Dowry...
Brooke wasn’t sure what she would find out when she went after Gilbert to Hannah’s room. She didn’t want it to be true, that the woman she considered her close friend...her best friend would do something like that.
But now, with nothing but Gilbert’s back in front of her, she couldn’t find the words to say. Thane was with the doctors, fighting for his life, her filming might be placed on hold, and now Hannah turned out to be someone entirely different.
"Gilbert! Don’t you think you’re being too assertive about this? I’m speaking with Mrs Grayson and not you!" Hannah clapped back at him.
Gilbert sneered, "Mrs Grayson is overwhelmed right now! I’m taking it upon myself to protect her from a liar like you. Be grateful I didn’t call the police."
But Hannah did not back down, "How did you know to search me today of all days? Don’t you think you’re suspicious too?"
"Suspicious? Is this your attempt at taking the heat off you? After conniving with Matthew to take Master Grayson out, you have the nerve to try pushing the blame to me!" he turned around, facing Brooke directly.
"Mrs Grayson, you can leave this matter to me, I’ll send her out of this house, and make sure she doesn’t find work anywhere ever again!" he said, then signaled some maids over to take Brooke away.
The maids flocked to Brooke’s sides, but when they tried to escort her out of the room, Hannah was not having it!
"Brooke wait!" she called out to her, she stood in front of the door, blocking her way out.
"I admit that I was the one who helped Matthew with that scam, but I didn’t know any better. I was blinded by my feelings back then, I didn’t see he was using me! But right now, I just want you to trust me..."
"How lofty of you Hannah. If you could lace something in Mrs Grayson’s food, just confess to tampering with master Grayson’s medicines. Confess so we can notify the doctors and find a cure!"
Hannah ran her fingers through her hair, "Old man! Could you just butt out for a frickin second-"
Brooke held her palm up, cutting them both off. She sniffled, "Right now, I just want to be with my husband, I don’t care about any of this. So until I say so, nobody leaves this house."
"But Mrs Grayson she-"
She sharpened a glare, "Am I understood?" she demanded, sending cold shivers down the spines of everyone present.
"Yes ma’am!" They chorused, slightly bowing their heads.
Brooke took one last look around the room, at Hannah’s hopeful expression, at Gilbert’s deep frown and at the fearful maids stationed next to each other in the middle of the scattered bedroom.
She shook her head then left by herself to her room, where she did not come out until she was summoned by the doctors for the jaw breaking news she would later receive...
Kayden arrived at his house at the same time with Serena and Scott, who had just come to pick up Cassie. He stepped down from the car, and spotted them at the main entrance, in conversation with his aunt.
As he got closer, he soon discovered that they weren’t having a conversation, but rather a full blown argument!
"You damned woman! Can’t you see my Cassie is going through so much?! How heartless can you be? Let her stay a few days!" Serena demanded in a loud voice.
But Susan stood her ground, "If that’s the case let her stay with her family, she can’t stay with people she doesn’t know."
"The nerve! Cassie deserves to stay here just as much as anyone else! Julian is her father, why can’t she?! I’m not going to take her away from him!" Serena yelled, attracting Kayden’s attention.
He didn’t need anyone to explain what was going on. He could see that Cassie was hell-bent on staying, and knew getting rid of her would be difficult.
Susan caught sight of Kayden and turned her focus to her nephew. "Welcome home, you must’ve had a long day. Why don’t you go inside and have the maids heat up dinner?" She suggested, completely ignoring Serena and her brother.
But Kayden refused to leave. "Where is the spoiled brat? Why hasn’t she left yet?"
Susan folded her arms, "Cassie has locked herself in her room, and refuses to leave. I’ve tried calling my brother but I can’t reach him-"
Serena cut her off. "So you want to kick her out?! Is that how little you think of her? The heiress of the business?!"
Kayden couldn’t help but laugh, "You people are such clowns." He turned to his aunt, "You said she’s locked herself inside?"
Susan nodded, "Yes, and her mother here insists she extend her stay for a week."
Her nephew laughed, he looked over his shoulder at his driver and said to him, "Get me a frickin hammer! I’ll break the door down if I have to!" he announced.
Ethan instantly regretted going to the office, the whole day he could feel everyone’s gaze pointed at him. He pinched his temples, Serena’s request was nothing but pure torture.
"Sir, you have a guest-"
The employee was cut off by a pen holder thrown at him! Fortunately, Ethan missed him terribly and ended up hitting the door!
"Didn’t I tell you not to let anyone in here?!" He raged, getting up from his seat.
However, his anger subsided when an older looking man walked into his office, and announced himself, "Ethan, is this anyway to treat your future father-in-law?" Julian asked, standing in front of the cowering employee.
Ethan stopped in his tracks, "Future father-in-law?" he mumbled. Gathering his senses he asked, "Do you mean you’re Cassie’s father?!"
Julian nodded, "Yes, and you’re the one who brazenly announced your engagement to my daughter."
Ethan quickly hissed at the employee and had him leave them immediately. Once he was gone, Ethan slumped on his chair, taking a good look at the old man Serena had told him about. ƒгeewebnovёl_com
The one she was fooling.
"So? Did you come to break us up? Well sorry to break it to you, but she’s knocked up with my child, and I don’t want to birth an illegitimate heir." He said, crossing a leg over the other, a cocky grin on his face.
But Julian shook his head, "No, I’m afraid that’s not what I’m here to discuss."
Ethan rolled his eyes at the old man’s polite tone. Although his voice was courageous, his eyes held a superior aura to them, and as he watched him standing up, it was almost as though he was looking down on him.
He didn’t like this old man.
"Then what? Don’t tell me you’re here to discuss a dowry-" Ethan was cut off miserably by Julian’s announcement.
"I’m here to ask you about Brooke."
